Kane used to be great, but then went to shit. It started earlier, but everything after unmasking was just awful. A real shame.
Foley, well. Is he a glorified stuntman? Yeah, but entertaining as fuck. I really didn't like the way he walked as Mankind, cause he looked like he had polio, but I usually liked his matches. Wasn't really a fan of Rock'n'Sock connection, because it was like a team consisting of a star (The Rock) and an obsessed fan (Foley). Still, Foley had many more memorable moments than Kane, so I go with Foley. Fuck bald Kane and fuck wig Kane. |

Kane had a few years of greatness and then slowly got worse and worse.
If this was just Cactus Jack, his body of work and influence in the business alone would be enough to beat out Kane. Then you add on his brilliant run as heel Mankind and how loveable the character became during the most popular era in wrestling. Foley by a landslide |

Very close for me. I had to go with Foley though because his Chef Boy-ar-dee commercials were more memorable.

Big Kane fan, right here. That said, Foley's body of work is just more memorable, both in ring and out.

I like both but I went with Kane.
I really liked the Kane gimmick until he was unmasked. That was probably the worst thing you could have done to the gimmick and it was, as it effectively killed the gimmick. Unmasked Kane was alright, I guess, but it was just the beginning of the end really as Kane went from being unmasked, to masked, to unmasked in a suit and back to masked. The character of "Kane" just didn't make sense anymore and everything that was built up over the near six year period from Kane's debut to his unmasking was just shat on and dumped in the bin, with the only thing still remaining being that he and Undertaker are brothers. The gimmick was a good one however, and I feel one of the last classic wrestling gimmicks as you're never going to get another gimmick like Kane again in today's world of professional wrestling. You're never going to get a character with such an in-depth and compelling backstory and a wrestler who carries so much intrigue with him like Kane did back during his original masked days. I don't know about everyone else, but as a kid, I really wanted to see Kane's face and I would almost freak out when he would lose his mask as I wanted to see if I could catch a glimpse of his face, but I never did. You get a masked wrestler now and all you have to do is jump on the Internet and you'll either get a picture of him wrestling before donning a mask or thanks to social media, you'll get a picture of him from years ago before he started wrestling. Finally, he was and still is a good wrestler. He's not as good as he once was but that's what happens when you get older so that's pretty much unavoidable, but he can also surprise you sometimes and pull out a good match every now and then. I always enjoy Kane's matches and there are some matches that I've watched and thought, "wow, that was a really good match". I don't think I've never said that about Mick Foley's matches. Foley is a good guy and his matches were pretty crazy at times and because of that, they're memorable, but they're only memorable for that one moment/spot or two that happens during his matches. Everyone remembers Undertaker throwing him off the cell but that's about it for most people. They can't recall what happened during the rest of the match. Some people can and mention him being Chokeslammed through the top of the cell, but that's about it for those people. People remember him being punted down some stairs by Randy Orton or The Rock smacking him across the head a few times with a chair but most people only seem to remember moments when it comes to Mick Foley. Mankind was a good gimmick, it was somewhat dark and interesting, but it didn't last very long (about a year or so?). After that, he was this happy little freak who stuck a sock on his hand and spoke to it. Sure, it was different, but (in my opinion) the new happy Mankind didn't really stand up against the others at the time. Guys like Undertaker, Kane, Austin and even Goldust. He didn't catch my attention like the aforementioned did. To me at the time, he was just some happy burly dude with a sock on his hand. If Mankind was around today, Micheal Cole would be telling us all that Mankind likes to have fun. Briefly on the subject of Foley's other gimmicks, I feel Cactus Jack and Dude Love were just Mankind's most well known aspects turned up to eleven with each one basically being "Mankind 2" depending on what aspect was turned up. Cactus Jack was the better of the two in my opinion. He was Mankind's hardcore side turned up to eleven, whereas Dude Love was Mankind's happy goofy side turned up to eleven. I will give props to Foley's promos though. Out of the two, Foley's promos are miles better. Mankind, Cactus Jack, Dude Love or even as himself, his promos always caught your attention and made you listen. That's something Kane has never really been able to do. So overall, my vote is for Kane because I feel his gimmick, wrestling and even his look has always been better than Foley's. Foley only wins it on promos and his niceness for me. |

Really surprised by that take tbh. I think Foley's match catalogue surpasses Kane's by a distance.
The Cell match does him a disservice, because like you say, it's what people remember first, but he had so many good matches. HHH, HBK, Rock, Edge, Orton, Austin all had super matches with Foley. Not to mention stuff like Vader and Sting in WCW. Understand liking the character better, but surprised me that someone would think that Kane had better matches. |

Foley has more memorable matches because he was always going against top tier talent. Kane was a better wrestler though.

Really? I think Foley's hardcore stuff hurt his reputation. I think he was really good in ring, especially in his more mobile years.
Kane also went against all the same guys over the years and the majority of those matches were pretty forgettable imo. Interesting take, would never have even thought that who was better in ring was open to debate. Genuinely interested though, what big Kane matches were there? |

Kane makes me turn off the television....can't say Mick ever did. Kane since the first mask can fuck right off, and current Kane is abysmal.

Both have had some really great moments and got really into their characters.
I have to say that Foley's worst is nowhere near Kane's worst, though. (Granted I never saw Foley in TNA) Overall I think Foley is just that much more memorable and ultimately had the bigger impact. Foley is also much better on the mic. |

Gotta go with Mick Foley. Kane is one of the most consistent hands out there and has been for the better part of 20 years, but when Mick Foley was at the top of the game not many can match up. His classics with Triple H and The Undertaker are very hard to top.

Foley.
Felt he was better in more areas, more influential as a star, and had a better legacy than Kane. With Kane, his longevity in the WWE hurts him a lot more than it helps. Him and Big Show are the biggest offenders in the WWE of having way too much useless padding in their careers and their legacies would have been a lot better off if they retired years ago. |

Kane I've enjoyed him as a wrestler and a character waaay more than Foley his promo ability is criminally overlooked. Foley was a good wrestler prior to the hardcore stuff problem is I was introduced to Foley at the age where all I wanted to see him do was find a new way to nearly kill himself. He was great at making you feel what he was saying when he talked too.
IMO Kanes feud with Shane was cool and memorable. Kane was basically an unstoppable ax murderer Shane hit him with everything and he just kept coming it was so much fun |

Foley.
Guy was a franchise in and of himself. Amazing work in all his gimmicks, he put on immensely entertaining matches that hid his in-ring limitations and exaggerated his positives. A lot of my favorite attitude era matches and moments are tied to Foley in all his various personalities. Commisioner Foley is still my favorite WWE authority figure, the guy is just a natural entertainer and can make anything work. Kane was an average big man in his early run who benefitted immensely from a very well done monster gimmick and association with the established legend in The Undertaker, but I never felt he was that entertaining in the ring and could never be a real main eventer. Starting from his run as the dastardly evil dentist, Kane had always been a great guy to throw in the midcard and his matches while solid, have never really been memorable. I think Kane showed a lot of improvement later on in his career but at some point stopped giving it 100% and just coasted on his reputation and status in the company. WWE had a real good chance to cement Kane as a bigger name in their history when he lost the mask, but naturally, I felt that the angle had an outstanding start that WWE totally lost focus on and it ended up fizzling out. You could always count on Kane to have a solid match and make his opponent look good, but I don't think anyone's really ever said, "Man, I really wanna go and watch some Kane matches after work tonight". Also Kane let his unborn child get murdered by Gene Snitsky, you wouldn't see Foley letting that happen. Actually kind of want to see a Foley vs Snitsky match. |
