Why wouldn't you look back at the table? You want to put your opponent through it for extra damage so of course you'd make sure they're going through it. It's not supposed to be an accident.

What makes Cornette look like more of a dick is that Omega seems like the nicest guy ever. I've heard him respond to Cornette's hate of him a couple times and it's always him just saying he likes him and doesn't have any ill will toward him. lol

The little kid and the blowup doll things were stupid as shit. Omega says the little girl thing was meant as nothing more than entertainment for a crowd of wrestlers and their families though. If that's the case, he deserves a pass for that at least.

The time it really took me out of the match was either Gotoh or Ishii, he was attempting a springboard attack into the ring. He looks back at the table to make sure 's in the right place then does the springboard, gets blasted and falls through the table.

It cut his back, but didn't really factor into the finish, as Omega went over. I was like "that was fake as shit."

I actually give Omega a pass on the blowup dolls and wrestling little girls thing in DDT, because he has progressed beyond that. But I would be wary of giving a main event push unless he changed his name.

Ibushi is worse than Omega, IMO. While Omega stopped doing stupid shit, for the most part, Ibushi is STILL DOING STUPID SHIT.

And I argue that Cornette is the most powerful man in the business. It seems every rant he goes on is newsworthy. I don't always agree with him, but if I ran a promotion, I would have him be a short term consultant, at least to learn the ropes of running a company. Raven would be my lead booker.

The little girl had actually wrestled for Stardom loads of times before this against adult women and never got hurt because they put her with trusted workers and practiced all the spots. The Omega match was her send off from the promotion that they booked as a "thank you" because her family wanted to focus on her education. It was an exhibition for family and friends, not an arena full of marks. It wasn't just some random 9 year old that Kenny Omega brought in and told the booker they were having a match because he wants to kill wrestling.

Cornette is working his gimmick. I love his podcasts and interviews, but if you think he doesn't play up his ang batshit crazy old timer gimmick to make money you are nuts. He's made a living the past 10 years doing podcasts and shoot interviews.

I do absolutely believe that he truly hates that kind of wrestling and knows that his core audience is the ones who watch this shit, so he goes on these rants to elicit a reaction and drum up listens to the podcasts or buys for his 100th shoot video. All of this shit is a shoot turned into a worked shoot. Eventually, a 1,000 + smarks will cram into some convention hall to see a Russo vs Cornette round table and will pay to see it thinking it may actually end in blows.

If it is not a work, he doesn't need to be so aggressive all the time, but stuff like this definitely contributes to how bad wrestling has gotten.

Maybe it isn't Omega and Ibushi that's ruined wrestling. Maybe it's Youtube.

Think about it. Before Youtube, you could do something incredibly stupid that exposes the business and the repercussions would likely be, you get fired from that promotion. However, you could change your look, change your gimmick, change your name, and a few months down the road, go right back to that promotion and folks wouldn't remember. Or, just go to a different territory in a different part of the country/world where people didn't see the stupid thing you did and you could rebuild yourself as a solid hand like that.

Now? You do one fucked up thing, and that's your legacy forever and ever. You have awesome matches night after night? Yeah, but here's a video of you super kicking an 8 year old and the kid not selling it from 5 years ago. One of the top draws in the world? Yeah, but here's you losing a match to an umbrella.

Society has shaped the current product more than anything else. We live in a fast paced world of instant gratification. The in ring product reflects that.

As far as Omega and Ibushi killing the mystique of wrestling, well you can't kill something thats already dead. It was shot in the leg during the vince steroid trial, and the rise of thevinternet finished it off for good. Instead of bitching about it and stubbornly refusing to move on, some guys have adapted to the new audience, and discovered a new way to entertain an audience. That's all comedy wrestling is to me.

I can watch a classic 70's wrestling match, a high impact NJPW main event, and DDT comedy match, and aporeciate all of them for what they are, seperately.

That could very well be the case, but I still think there are enough fans who would willingly be invested and suspend their disbelief given the right circumstances. I think wrestling fans in general want to buy in. I knew from an early age that it wasn't real, but because it was presented as such, it allowed me to "buy in"
