Edge pretty easily here.
Ambrose is a far better wrestler than he's been permitted to showcase on WWE television, and like Edge he is actually quite good at multiple styles of wrestling. But Edge was always way more crisp in the ring than Ambrose. |

Pretty easy, Edge. Ambrose WWE career is young but I dont see him having the same impact that Edge did.

Hmm. I think if they were both put in the same exact position, Ambrose would be a bigger deal than Edge. Better in the ring, better on the mic, bigger personality. Going with him.

All of this has made me realize I don't love Edge I just like him ok.I pick Ambrose I'm so serious when I say the dude has an untapped well to draw from.
I've been waiting since he went solo for the WWE to let him cut loose. The closest he's gotten to Jon Moxley IMO is his match with Brock Lesnar and that wasn't nearly long enough. |

Edge quite easily, Ambrose might have got his start in WWE too late in life to ever close the gap.....He's got a shot though....

Edge. The TLC matches are so much better than anything Ambrose has done. Edge has made way more of an impact in the business and was much more "I've gotta see what this dude is doing" than Ambrose.

Plus, during the shield I thought Dean Ambrose was gonna be huge coming out of it. Honestly both him and Seth have been flops since they broke up. Both have been pushed pretty hard and aren't very over.
Edge took the ball and ran with it when he got the opportunity. |

When I hear Lesnar didn't want to do anything for Ambrose at WM that year I wonder how hard Ambrose tried to really get him to do anything. Lesnar prob just said "were gonna do some suplexes and take it home kid" and Ambrose prob just shook his head yes and said nothing

Ambrose hasn't gotten over as a solo act. He is mildly appreciated at best and any title run has been poor.
Edge was very over. He was able to get over as an opportunistic heel, but also as a comedic face...and I mean, actually, over. He had as good a tag run as Ambrose had, whereas that tag run was just him getting started, before he built seriously on it, it has been Ambrose peak until this point. He is, like, a 10-11 time world champ and one of the most decorated superstars in the company's history. He was one of the last genuine stars on the roster. His peak level, popularity and star power were not just one, but several tiers higher than Ambrose. He has had so many great matches over his career too, for me, he just blows Ambrose away. Speechless that people would put Dean Ambrose over Edge on current evidence and career up to this point , but i guess that is the beauty of these threads, everyone has a different perspective. |

All perspective i guess. That's what makes me always look in these threads. Always surprised!
One thing accolades do tell us is the confidence the company has in the individual, particularly if those are multiple reigns. Having 5+ world title runs still means the company has faith in you to carry main feuds on your show and to bring in gates at house shows as a main attraction, or at least as part of a/the main storyline of a show. Edge had the ability to be the main star on a brand back in his day, the guys feuds could revolve around. I think that still means something even now and I don't think Ambrose is their yet. |

I would say Edge was only over as a comedic face due to Angle. And Angle could get anyone over.

I firmly believe the only reason edge ever got to the main event is because wwe was starting to lack big names, more were leaving, and less were coming in. He had a recognizable name and image from his tag team work and it was easier to elevate him than to make a new star. I don't think it had much at all to do with his in ring skills or mic work because there are and have been many people better in both departments that never got the opportunity edge got. He simply benefitted from being in the right place at the right time.
If wwe had picked up aj styles and Samoa Joe and Daniel Bryan and cm punk back in the mid 2000s, edge would have probably never gotten his opportunity. |

Edge. Ambrose has been very good and maybe one day the vote will be different. He's young and hungry. Does more house shows any anybody in the WWE.

I think Ambrose may be better, but he just hasn't had the opportunity to show it. I think if he was around in the Attitude Era he would have been way bigger than Edge.
Was gonna write out more stuff and then eventually vote for Edge..... but the more I thought about it, the more I just want to vote for Ambrose..... Kind of unfair in a way because I am thinking of all those times that Edge has bored me and I disliked him, and Ambrose hasn't really had times where he has bored me..... Ambrose def not living up to his potential, but that has more to do with the booking and the era he is working in than with him...... I dunno..... it is late and I'm super tired..... voting Ambrose..... |

Edge mainly because of his body of work being better overall and like others stated, Ambrose hasn't reached his potential yet as a big star because of various reasons.
Draft might have done more to hurt than help Ambrose considering he went from being the top face and Top 2-3 star on Smackdown to now the 4th face and 5th-6th star overall on RAW. |

Its been said the current era is no excuse for performers inability to get over huge"if you are good enough you'll find a way to get over."
I really question that I mean look at how much Edge was able to get away with.A massive part of his solo success is because of the freedom he had to get his character across. Look at what passes for Roman Regins promos Not every word needs to be an f-bomb but Ambrose just doesn't seem nearly as dangerous as he should be, he's more just fun crazy guy who if you anger him gets slightly more erratic. He never gets to put across just how messed up his character is. I will say this: the difference in Pillman and Ambrose is that Pillman just kinda lost it one day Ambrose/Moxley is more like a desperate, violent, drifter. The gore was awesome.
And say what you want about Edge's spear, but the WWE Universe bought it as a credible finisher for a decade. Sometimes you still hear crickets when Ambrose hits the headlock driver |
