Rate the Game: Week 58
Good morning, y'all. We're 2 months into the new batch of games and I think we've all grown and learned from one another. We've all become better people...maybe. I'm getting an early start on this week's edition as I'm not sure how my schedule for the day is going to play out so better play it safe. Now is the time to check up on how Nathan Drake's first outing in the realm of gaming fared as we tally up the votes and work out the average rating for Uncharted: Drake's Fortune. What say you, leaderboard? What do you have to show us this week?
Well, the good people of TPWW continue to surprise me as Uncharted: Drake's Fortune barely cracks the top 40 with an slightly above average score of 3.22, getting enough fractions of a point to edge out Quake. It seems fortune was not with Mr. Drake this time around. Hahahahahahahahah, get it??? You see what I did there? Laugh, damn it! Well with that out of the way let's get down to the draw as we move onto this week's title. What ever shall it be? Let's go to the .gif! Hmm, another interesting omission from the original list. I remember this game being the talk of the town at that time. Well, anyway, your game to rate this week is the FPS smash hit Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. This is the original 2007 title we're talking about here not the recent release with a similar title in 2019. I'm actually kind of curious how Call of Duty games fare amongst the TPWW crowd so this should be fun. Rate, share, discuss, and hug the cuddly animal of your choice! Until next time.... No matter what may happen to me, just remember Lzzy Hale gave me the bedroom eyes... ...again. |

Rated 4, not as good as MW2 but still pretty nice.

Plot and characters were good, multiplayer was addictive, cemented it's place as a cornerstone game for Activision for years to come.
But, I agree with Savio. Modern Warfare 2 was better. This, gets a 4 from me too. |

Disagree on 2 being better. I think the first one had the better story, and more memorable missions. I liked the multi-player maps better as well. And I kind of liked when the multi-player was simpler as a whole. |

Easy 5 for me. Remember this being HUGE when it released, and playing the fook out of it more than any other CoD. I took the time to play on Veteran and clear every achievement. Mile High Club was hard AF but felt so good to get.
Seemed to strike the perfect balance in multiplayer as well. |

Multiplayer, for me, is only fun when I'm playing with people I know. Call of Duty 4 didn't allow you to do split screen and not all of us had our own console or copy of the game so we invested more time into games that did allow us to sit around one screen. Playing with strangers is a crapshoot. I'm either dealing with idiots or assholes who have all apparently had sex with my mom.

I actually feel like the bad reputation of the COD community stated with MW2. I don't remember many people being mixed, let alone talking trash. Rarely, if ever got any messages either.

I think I'm going to have to go with a 5 for this one. I don't know about it being better or worse than the sequel as I played through this one more than I did with Modern Warfare 2. I think I only went through the second game's campaign twice and did the Spec-Ops missions. I'd have to play them both back-to-back one more time to really make a call. But just judging this one on its own, everything fires on all cylinders. It's got an engaging story, memorable missions, side characters that I actually care about, excellent gun play and movement controls, and it's got some of the best graphics from that generation. Maybe the music is the only thing that's a miss as I can't really recall anything that stood out for me but in a game like this that's a minor complaint. I can't judge the multiplayer but I never really consider that component as part of a game anyway. It really did a lot for the genre and helped kick the series into the stratosphere as a force to be reckoned with.
