Oh well, I'd rather Ronda get her first Women's title via steamrolling a chickenshit heel Bliss anyway, rather than this confusing mess with Nia. Alexa's "OMG, my elbow is sooo floppy because I can dislocate it!!!" Trick is made for an armbar finish.

I watched a highlight video of the show. Pretty glad I skipped everything except for Styles/Nakamura. That looked like it fucking rocked. I love the finish to it. Nakamura screaming "Come on!" and then getting kicked in the nuts before the Phenomenal Forearm through the table (which I loved when he did it against Reigns too). I like the psychology of using the announce table to stand and how that played into the finish. I can't wait to watch the whole match.

It looks like AJ Styles might surpass The Rock with more days spent as WWE Champion.

Just saw a video of fans during Reigns/Mahal, and tweets from guys like Bubba Dudley and Charles Robinson condemning the fans.
It's got to ridiculous levels now. Not only do fans need to like who they are told, but they have to passively sit through shit too, even though they have bought their tickets. Fans do not want to see Roman Reigns as a top guy and fans do not want to see Mahal as a major player. They are entitled to think they both suck and have been pretty vocal about that for a while. So the company throws them together and then cries when fans revolt at having to see them. It's stubbornness to an unbelievable degree. Just crazy how this company is run nowadays. |

Yeah I don't get why these fucking wrestlers get so upset that fans don't like Reigns. Everyone knows he's decent but everything he's involved with stinks.

Reigns is a good wrestler but he just isn't (and hasn't) cut it for me personally as "the guy". I'm just not interested in his character. Boring promos. Boring feuds.
Let fans choose 'their superhero' and if most fans choose a Seth Rollins or Braun Strowman common sense is to push that person for the time being. One of the reasons NXT does so well is they cycle out their top heels and faces (granted it's by design of call-ups to the main roster...but it works). |

Just watched the rest of the show (watched half yesterday)
Overall, really enjoyed the show. Zayn/Lashley and Reigns/Mahal were the only "really bad" things. Rollins/Elia and Bryan/Cass were "not very good", but "not bad". Really loved the Styles/Nakamura match..... really liked their whole feud even though people here like to be negative and poop on everything...... Really shocked at Braun winning the MitB, but I ain't mad at it. Just seemed to me that he was maybe "never going to win" the big one because he "didn't need it". |

Worst part of the show was when Becky Lynch clearly had the briefcase, but had to just stand there not taking it off the hook because Alexa Bliss was late

I really thought she was going to win it due to how long the camera stayed focused on her trying to get it off.

Didn't get a chance to watch this last night but just finished watching a replay.
* Skipped the pre-show and just going to assume the Bludgeon Bros actually smashed someone with their hammers for once. * at Bryan beating Cass. Should have never been a feud to begin with but still laughing at Vince/WWE getting cold feet on a big push for Cass. Match itself was pretty good as an opener. * Lashley-Sami match was meh. Didn't really do anything for Lashley besides show his lack of strength holding his finisher. * at "we are scumbags" chant after being called a town of scumbags by Elias. Elias-Rollins was pretty great overall. Need to think but that might have been Elias' best singles match of his RAW/WWE career. * Ouch at Sasha and Moon getting powerbombed onto ladders. at the ladder being in the wrong spot for a while and only Becky noticing it. Much better Women's MitB match than the last time but really dumb for Bliss to win since she's legit the last person who needed it. * Reigns-Jinder match was meh and still don't care at all about this feud. * The booking of this Carmella-Asuka match has been horrendous. Same for the ending. 2nd time Asuka gets overshined for what should have been her big moment. Going to laugh if Vince/WWE didn't want an Asuka victory to overshadow Ronda again. Whatever was left of Asuka's aura got flushed down the drain and now she's just another person on the roster. * at Nakamura begging for mercy from his low blow attempt. Nakamura eventually hitting his trademark Nut Punch. Nakamura's facial expressions after every time Styles breaks the count has been great. Holy Shit at Nakamura's head almost hitting the steps on the Styles Clash. at the thud from Styles low blow to Nakamura. Amazing Phenomenal Forearm through the table. That was one of the best ever Last Man Standing matches but Nakamura really needed to win. He's just like Asuka now in terms of being just another person on the roster now. * Ouch at Ronda's botched fall to the outside. Add Ronda to the list of people who have a better knee strike than Rollins Kneemaker. Ronda-Nia match was a lot better than I expected. Bliss has pretty much become the female version of Triple H with her Reign of Terror 2.0 on the Women's title scene. * Pretty cool swerve to reveal which New Day member is in the Men's MitB match. Holy shit at Owens' toss from the ladder. Coup de Grace from the ladder was pretty cool by Balor. Match was pretty good overall and cool that Braun won since maybe WWE will finally give him a Universal title reign he deserved. Braun is like Bliss though that he was the last person who actually needed the case and sort of useless to give the case to a RAW guy. |

For those who want to read my thoughts of results/impressions on the snippets I've seen. And sure, you can consider that I didn't watch the whole show as a detriment to me even having an opinion, but they've turned this once loyal viewer's interest off, so there's that:

That's because Alexa Bliss is pushed way beyond her current skill level. I heard from RP that she has a nice ass though.

Actually realized I didn't talk much about the results up there, but that's because none of them really matter. Braun could challenge Brock or Roman without the briefcase. You have to make yourself care about this product to head canon any real stakes.
I want to reiterate that AJ Styles and Shinsuke Nakamura are great though, because I know I will get criticized for being too negative and asked why I bother to think about wrestling when I hate this particular brand and philosophy of wrestling so much. |

I watched a highlight video and read the results, which gave me impressions of the night and the overall direction. I haven't reviewed the actual match quality, other than the work I've seen.

I don't understand how you can grade a show watching a highlight reel. It'd be like scouting a pro athlete prospect on his highlight reel instead watching his performance in its entirety.

It's being lazy yet some how expecting to take your opinion seriously.
Like whatever, I don't mind if he doesn't like the product, (neither do I) but don't come here writing essays about shit you didn't even watch. The notion is asinine. |

Hell I even understand watching the one or two matches on the show (which is what I do a lot) and then talking about what you liked/didn't like about those. But no, "I watched a highlight package and somehow decided the only match I liked was the match with two guys I like" that honestly wasn't the best match on the show. The best match was Ronda/Nia because Ronda is fucking amazing and it was laid out well.

I'm imagining watching a highlight reel of my fave baseball team and thinking "wow they had a pretty good season" only to find out they were a 65 win team because a highlight reel presents no context or storytelling.

I'm not offering a professional review. I'm offering my impressions of the general creative direction, the atmosphere and the work I actually saw. You're projecting this idea of a "full review" onto me entirely. And as I said, if people don't want to take it seriously...fine? There are critics who give their impressions from trailers and review television series based on a few episodes. It's a part of the content's role to hook people. When WWE content gets better at that, I can give "full reviews" with a lot more nuance. But I don't think there is anything wrong with saying "I've seen this spot" or "I've seen this match" or "I heard this promo" or "they are going in this direction" and giving my thoughts on that and whether it makes me more or less likely to get back into the fold. |
