Owen was great in the ring. Very exciting to watch early on and extremely well rounded later in in his career.
Where Owen has Benoit beat though is his personality. I think Benoit had a more quiet understated charisma and was underrated here. He was super intense and had his little nusances in the ring that made him great to watch. Owen was on another level though as a personality. Him vs Bret is my favourite feud til this day and Owens heel character was so good to watch. As a personality, I have such great memories of him and miss him a lot more as a performer than I do Benoit. |

I actually really like Owen, and found him subjectively more exciting than Bret. My favorite Bret match is his match against Owen. That being said, I just can't objectively rate Owen better than Benoit. Maybe he would have been, but I don't think he quite got there.

That being said, if I could do my "who would you rather book?" test, then having Owen Hart show up would certainly get you a lot of attention. Benoit would be your top heel too.

While Owen did fall short of the heights that Benoit achieved in his career, I feel like he made a bigger impact.
Biggest thing Benoit did was his title run, and end of the day it is pretty forgettable. Whereas Owen vs. Bret still stands up today as one of the best feuds ever. So while his career may have been shorter, I think he did make it mean more. |

Owen was way more of a Jack of Stats than Benoit.
To me WWE missed the boat on Owen he was better than his brother imo in pretty much every way (his commentary was actually really funny) He was just gold and WWE never realized what they had in him |

Owen didnt achieve anything in his career. If bret wasnt his brother and had hed not died publicly no one would remember anything he ever did.

Voted for Owen mainly for feeling he was better as the overall package. Both were great in the ring and had several memorable moments but Owen gets the nod in terms of promo skills.

Anyone saying Owen was more of a complete package or accomplished more than Beniot is a liar though.

He's way more of a complete package than Benoit. Benoit has better achievements. Although his World Title runs were awful

Beniot simply for the fact that I felt he was more edgy and related more with people during his time when the dynamic of the wrestling fan was changing. Owen Hart RIP always and forever was a great talent but was more catered to a family oriented and friendly product and when they tried to change him to the fittings of the attitude era, he just got lost in the shuffle to me and I couldn't relate. For that reason alone, I give my nod to Benoit, I enjoyed watching him more during his prime than I did Hart.

To those arguing that Benoit achieved more, I can't argue that. He won a ton more titles, had more runs on top, won a royal rumble, main evented a Wrestlemania etc..
if you are going to add all that in, (which it should be) you also have to understand Benoit had more time to do all this. Owen's career really didn't take off till end of 93. he died in April 99, so it's about 5 years. Benoit got big in the US about 1995 and went till 2007. and we had Owen not died, maybe he would of been done anyway by 2000 so it's hard to say. too many what if's to bother. But for me in picking Owen, i based it on if i was running a company, who would i want and it would be Owen for me for the things I originally stated. |

Owen had only turned 34 a few weeks before he died. While we'll never know for sure, I feel like he would've wrestled into his early to mid 40s.
So he could've been going for another 5-10 years and presumably would've spent a good deal of time in the brand split era with two World Titles. I definitely think he would've gotten a run near the top of one of the brands at some point. I'd say Benoit was better in the ring, but only slightly. Owen however steamrolled Benoit in the promo department and he was more versatile in what you could do with him. |

I'll clarify it. going big was a bad choice of words. Benoit became something to the US audience at the end of 95 when he joined the Horsemen. you can even give him a few more years and say 97 when he was feuding with Sullivan in early 97. i think he was fairly established by then.

Owen Hart had a better Raw tribute show. Plus Chris Benoit was missing a tooth. Don't like that look. Trashy.
