Ok, so... Not super thrilled about character clones (Wolverine AND X-23? Why.) but I'm still pretty amped for some of the suspected Marvel characters.

Taskmaster? HELL YEAH.
Deadpool? AWESOME.
Thor? ABOUT TIME.

I'm still hoping Thanos is still in, especially with th Infinity Gauntlet showing up in the Thor movie somehow... speaking of movie tie-ins, anyone want to speculate about Hawkeye?

Silver Surfer is perfect for a Vs game. He's crazy powerful and has a fairly vague enough power set to make a lot of moves without Marvel saying "Nah, he can't do that."

If they can have Thor and Hulk in it, I see no reason why Surfer can't be in as well. It's certainly not a power-level issue, as most of the Capcom guys wouldn't scratch the Marvel guys in a fight. Balanced to some degree for a reason.

I mean really, what prayer would Ryu actually have against Thanos or Juggernaut?

That being said... I'm interested to see who all is in it.

I still say X-23 would pretty much be a Wolverine clone. Remember beastial/bone claws Wolvie? Similar move set but faster than regular Wolvie? That's all I see X-23 being, if she ends up being in it.

Still hoping for Taskmaster, one of Marvel's most underrated characters.

It's because Thor and Hulk's fighting style are melee based, where as silver surfer mainly just zips around on his surf board at ridiculous speed, shooting stuff from his hands.

WOuld be great for a 3-d rail shooter, but it would be kinda weird to see him in a fighting game.

True about Surfer, but Storm can just hang back up in the sky far out of reach and Lightning Bolt you into oblivion. Don't get me started on Magneto.

All I'm saying is they already have characters who sit far out of reach and rain down energy-based doom. I don't see Surfer as an issue. They'll adjust him for the format -- a fighting game -- and he should be fine.

That's if he's even actually in it, of course.

Except that would suck. Surfer is capable of telepathically controlling his board while away from it, using the power cosmic (basically the power of god) and cosmic strength augmentation to (possibly beyond) Hulk levels. Check it.

It would be a waste not to make him play a lot more like the giant characters in Tatsunoku vs Capcom (he can only be by himself, but it retardedly strong.

Firstly, Power Cosmic is NOT essentially the power of God. It's very, very potent yes... but not THAT potent. (See The Infinity Gauntlet and The Living Tribunal for that level of power.)

That being said... telepathically controlling his board can be represented with moves. So can augmentation (a la Juggernaut's "Power Up!" move). As for going beyond Hulk levels of strength, that's difficult since Hulk has no known limit to his potential strength.

Again, most of these things can be represented by moves, and of course it would be balanced. Otherwise, playing anyone BUT Surfer would be pointless.

While he's not gonna go creating universes any time soon, he can easily create and reshape matter. That's what I was getting at. Numerous people have kicked the surfer's ass. Frankly, he's just a scientist with a crazy power set.

I definitely feel you with the game stuff. I see him as more of a midboss for the sheer fact that he's up there with Hulk and Juggy for strength and Magneto, Doom and Storm for sheer energy projection. Plus he can fly. So it's like when he is in play, he'd be a one man team like the really big characters in TvC.

Who else must be a guarantee given the current roster? 16 confirmed, at least 14 to go.
My guess is the remainder has to at least include Spidey, Ken, Akuma, and Megaman. That leaves 10 to go and they're a little light on the women... my money is on Sakura and Storm.

I was hoping Cage would make it in. He seems to have gained some popularity in the last couple of years. Personally, he has grown in me as a character. The roster seems pretty good at this point regardless. Can't ever please everyone with fighting games. Can only hope for awesome DLC packs.
