This is an easy one for me. Sting is one of my all-time favorites. He always got me invested into his matches by being so damn good at playing the babyface role and being ridiculously likable.
I really haven't seen too many Sting matches that were absolute clunkers, at least not prior to his TNA run. He seemed to be able to hold his own in there with just about anybody, and obviously all of those late 80s/early 90s matches with Flair were magic. Sting not getting a clean, decisive win at Starrcade 1997 was a travesty. Fuck you Hogan! |

Sting is gonna win this one easy. Feel like it should be closer than I'm imagining it will be. Intrigued to see if anyone can campaign for $$$ Man.

Sting easily. My all time favorite, didn't catch a lot of surfer sting when I was young but that's one thing that's great about the WWE Network. Sting vs the NWO was the shit as a kid. Watched his TNA runs and was disappointed in his WWE run but at least he had a Wrestlemania match. Still wishing for Taker vs Sting though.

Wasn't a big Sting fan growing up, but going back and watching him now I can't understand why, Sting was awesome. DiBiase is very entertaining, but Sting is awesome. Sting.

Have to go with the Million Dollar Man. While Sting was more prominent over the years, he just didn't cut it for me with promos and his in ring work seemed sloppy and uninsipred. To me Sting's body of memorable work was more about who he wrestled and what they did rather than how Sting performed.

Going to go with the Stinger even though he was a shit World Champ and didn't draw. Had to throw all the money and power at Hogan's feet in desperation mode. Sting's fault he was out of shape at Starrcade 1997.
Wait did I still vote for Sting? Yeah but he's way overrated. Still better than Ted though. |

Sting is like the Undertaker of WCW, he is the face of one of the biggest companies in history.
Million Dollar Man is a personal favourite, but Sting is on a whole other level of stardom for me. Peak Sting was fantastic in the ring too, really exciting to watch. |

I went with DiBiase....not because I don't like or respect Sting, but because I was always a WWE guy, mainly out of circumstance...WCW wasn't shown where I live for many years so I never got to watch it....and when I did, it seemed second rate so I always stuck with WWE (F)

Stinger was the face of WCW during their peak in the late 90's. He was involved in tons of huge angles and memorable moments. People still want him back for another match. He has had multiple successful gimmicks. Carried all kinds of titles for multiple companies. I could go on. I am not a huge Sting mark but I can not deny his place in wrestling history. There is no way MDM can compete with that.

I don't agree. Sting was a bigger draw imo. Goldberg didn't even debut until the end of 97 and wasn't a big deal until sometime in 98. He wasn't there long enough for me to consider him the face of the company. An undefeated streak against mostly jobbers with an occasional decent opponent does not qualify him as the face for me.
Sting was the one with the better gimmick, better on the stick, better in the ring, part of bigger angles imo....Honestly you are the first person I've ever heard claim Goldberg was the face of WCW. |

Let's also not forget that the numbers on the streak were super inflated and fans back then even started to realize it and sour on the Goldberg shtick.

Remind me how many title reigns Goldberg had again? I'd have him 4th at the absolute best in terms of who was the face of the WCW. Hogan, Flair and Sting all go above him in that pecking order. I'm not sure that Nash and DDP don't belong above him as well. Edit: Forgot Booker T.

I will admit however that by WCW standards, especially for the late 90's, his title reign was incredibly long. You didn't get long reigns in WCW if your name wasn't Hogan or Flair.

I dont know how that is relevent. Im not saying goldberg was better than sting (not the belts means anything toward that to begin with) but Goldberg was the top draw in that company, the face of wcw, for that period.

That's like saying Austin/Rock were faces of WWE during who certain periods, but Mr Wrestlermania, Mr WWE, the guy who was there through everything was The Undertaker.
Sting is similar to that. He was present in every era of WCW and while there were times that others superceded him as the man, he was also relied on by the company at certain times. He was always there, in good times and bad and if you think of WCW in any given year, Sting is one of the first, if not the first, name that comes to mind. He is Mr WCW and that, for me, transcends anything that Dibiase ever did, as good as he was. |

Sting IMO was never really a "top draw" in an Austin/Rock sense, but like brought up before, more of an iconic attraction ala Undertaker.
Taker couldn't draw as top guy either. But is still one of the biggest stars ever and synonymous with the company. Sting WAS wcw. But much like Taker, as good as both of them were, limitations whether it be booking or ability, prevented them from being the tippy top. Ted had all the tools, but less of an it factor than Sting. You give Ted, Sting's it factor, or Sting, Ted's promo ability and ring generalship, you have the perfect wrestler. |

I have many more memories of Ted DiBiase than I do of Sting. Maybe it's just because I was so pro-WWF, but I think DiBiase deserves more love here. That moment when Virgil finally turned on him was some really gripping stuff. And that kid with the basketball. Basically any time he tried to hold black people down was compelling television.

Sting.
Dibiase gets the nod in terms of character/gimmick and promo skills. Sting gets the nod in terms of in-ring skills, bigger stardom, more memorable moments, and also for watching a lot more of his work than Dibiase. Agree with others about Sting being the Taker of WCW in the sense of rarely being the top star but more as being the "face" of WCW alongside Flair. |

Sting.
He just had an effortless charisma and some classic matches. Also one of the few to still be working hard in WCW towards the end. |

If you brought that back right now, it already has more credibility than the US Title.

I didn't really start watching WCW until around 1996, so I missed a large portion of Sting's run, but regardless, I kinda have to go with Sting.

Unfortunately for Ted he doesn't stand a chance. I would put Sting as a better worker in his prime but what sets Dibiase down is The Stinger's charisma was second to none. Loved this man as a kid, respected his longevity and the fact he was able to tweak his character enough over the decades to keep him relevant.
