So has it REALLY changed? (205 Live)
So it's been a few months since HHH "supposedly" took over control of 205 Live and I'll be honest..... I still don't watch it (sorry guys, I just prefer wrestling featuring big sweaty men )
So I wanted to ask you guys, because let's face it the TPWW opinion is the only one that matters, has your opinion on the Cruiserweight Division and the 205 Live show changed since the supposed management change? Has the show gotten better? Is it worse? Did you not watch it before, but now you do? Have you noticed any change at all? FEELS LIKE I'M WEARING NOTHING AT ALL NOTHING AT ALL NOTHING AT ALL |

I've heard it's better, but I do wonder how much of that is just the perception that now Triple H is running things, and Triple H = good? It does sound like the silliness and geekiness of all the personalities have been removed, but it still just comes off to me as matches for the sake of matches.
You're probably more interested in the opinions of people who watch, but I think it's valid to consider people who don't. That it hasn't been able to generate that compelling word of mouth to draw people in, or that it hasn't been able to hook hearts and minds with its solid (allegedly) content, is a statement in and of itself. |

Don't really watch it myself. Feels like the matches are more important with stuff on the line. WrestleMania's match seemed important until they put it on like 2nd on the preshow. All that work to get on the Mania Card and it's preshow.
So, don't know. |

It feels like Cedric's run is like an attempt to take them back to the CWC when he was over.

I'm not an avid viewer of WWE these days. Raw and SmackDown fatigue and bother me, because so many guys work the same. And then someone who doesn't isn't very good, and people cream their pants, and I feel like it's just not my jam anymore.
I like the more serious competition stuff. I used to watch NXT regularly. That began to fall into familiar cycles too. Guys would come in, get the "Holy shit!" chant or whatever because, guess what, Triple H signed them, and then they win the NXT Title. "You deserve it." Then they get called up and suck. The old 205 Live stuff was goofy and make everyone a joke to me. Well, except for Neville (who was awesome) and Jack Gallagher (who I got a kick out of). But there's just not meaty reason for me to invest. Oh, and I cancelled my Network subscription after Jinder won the WWE Title, because if they openly tell me their product doesn't matter, why should I pay them money for it? So it's not as simple as me signing into the Network to see stuff. They have to win me back as a consumer, and they don't appear to be anywhere close. I know that all sounds very cynical, but that is my response as a guy who has been obsessed with wrestling for the majority of my life. Discovering older wrestling, realizing how well it worked, and appreciating that you can have logic, sensible progression and stories that matter in wrestling didn't help. And also discovering that Vince's carny family circus mentality towards sports entertainment was hated by a lot of people, and that now he has the monopoly? My ironic fandom and basically sitting down and watching shit that makes fun of itself because it is too self-conscious to even consider trying to make an audience invest any genuine emotion or that there is a point to it, is dead. That was a privilege I had when I was more optimistic and just respected anyone who got into a ring, because hey, that's more effort than I've put in. But bad artistry can ruin industries. I've seen it happen in local music and comedy scenes here. There's no consistent wrestling. Sorry to spiral there -- I've had a few scotches (no work tomorrow). Basically, I really wish that a bad-ass billionaire with a taste for old rasslin' would invest a bunch of money for a no bullshit approach to a promotion. Or for The Rock to start up one, because he loves it, and he knows that there needs to be an alternative to make things matter again. I don't know. I'm waiting for something to right hook WWE, because they fucking suck. Their main event after the SmackDown guys are fucking cruiserweights who wrestle just like the SmackDown guys, but they're smaller. Someone destroy them. That's ultimately my point. |

After Raw on Monday and Smackdown i'm pretty much out of energy to watch wrestling. That's if I watch them.

I've started to watch it regularly. It seems to be focusing more on "competition" and "wanting to be the best". Even the feuds that they have had going haven't been about stuff like "You stole my girlfriend" or "you refused me as a teacher", etc....... they have been more "I want to the best and you are in my way" or "you will respect me in the ring", etc.......
Always usually guaranteed at least one great match too. |

If you showed up in NXT though, Paul, I will chant "You deserve it."

I'm working on it, got a few irons in the fire at several companies domestically and internationally. I was told that I had "everything" and they wanted to send me for a WWE Tryout..... but I have a few "lingering injuries" and I gotta go through physical therapy before they recommend me. Hopefully by July I'll be 100% and I'll be able to finally get a tryout.

It's changed a little for the better in the sense most weeks they don't waste segments on Raw with 205 garbage.
Honestly there is no point to 205 live. We see great wrestling and high flyers all the time on Raw and Smackdown with AJ, Finn, Seth, Jeff Hardy, ect. Even big guys like Joe and Harper dive through the ropes. Cruiserweight worked in WCW because they had nobody outside that division wrestling that kind of style. The other big truth is that since they launched that division they lost their 3 biggest stars, who were the only ones that had any kind of draw. Neville and Aries both knew that division was a dead end, and of course Enzo got fired. If you watch Raw, Smackdown, and NXT, that is 6 hours of wrestling. A 7th hour with a bunch of guys that are uninteresting guys who happen to do a few more flips just isn't appealing. Also feel the same way about the U.K. wrestlers getting their own show it I am being honest. Pete Dunn has great matches, but an 8th hour of WWE wrestling during the week, no thanks. |

Its gotten better but the changes made were not as drastic to completely change the tone of the show. They mostly went in a more wrestling-focused direction for the brand while gutting the junk Vince added.
Vince trying to shoe-horn the WWE style for both the in-ring stuff and show itself did serious damage to the brand. Being stubborn on not wanting to have the show taped before Smackdown was another big blunder for the brand as well since crowds were not sticking around to see the gimmick-based stuff he was presenting. It still doesn't feel like classic WCW cruiser quality but its a lot more closer to what people hoped the division would be after the CWC. |

Get some of the old WCW cruiserweights. I know Juventud still wrestles. Hell, put Rey Mysterio in the division. WCW cruiserweight division was entertaining. 205 live is still boring. They need to do something to make cruiserweights great again.
