Not good enough then......but would of heen now?
What i mean by this is, back in the 80's and 90's world titles were not passedvaround so often as they have been say in the last 10 to 15 years. When they were it was normally to the same select view.
So my thinking here is, a wrestler who wasnt given the top prize when they wrestled but if they had wrestled say in more recent times they would of more likely had a world title run. Im thinking, Mr Perfect Curt Hennig. Im not including his AWA run he was given when the fed was going down hill fast and it was done to stop him leaving. In the WWF he was a two time IC champ, but came up short against Hogan and Warrior. I think he would of had a world title run if a prime version has been in the WWE in the mid 2000's. |

Everyone who was an IC champion back in the day would have been a world champion today.

Yeah. Pretty much the moment Triple H got handed a second world title and there was no longer a title signifying THE best, it was over. Literally split the prestige in half and there's no going back.

The Patriot.
Could see a potential title reign occur during the early to mid-2000s when WWE became a lot more overtly patriotic or nationalistic on television. Also the brand split making it easier to get a World/WWE championship. |

Scott Hall for sure. How cool would it be to have someone that would be over for actually being cool?
Then there was something separating him from Hogan and Savage, Flair and Sting. Still though, he could've been that for WWF if they'd have ran with it. He was over in a very Magnum TA sort of while for a while when he turned face in the 90's. Meaning the fans that he did have were very loud and passionate, and because they ran small buildings, when he comes out it's like the roof blows off. |

I disagree. I liked The Patriot's run, it was a fresh breath of air during a long term Austin/Hitman program. There really isn't a time more fitting for that character than the time it was in, to play off of The Hart Foundation's heel in the US/face in Canada angle. Plus he wasn't a great talker by any means, charismatic yes, as should anyone who wrestles in a mask be. But he was too southern to ever get anything more than a dash in the title scene.

Yeah that was the moment. I was growing up, probably about 18 or so, and I was getting tired of watching every week, and when Triple H got handed the new Heavyweight Championship a big part of me as a fan checked out.

Scott Hall for sure.
I was a fan of Rick Rude also. And to think, Sgt Slaughter got to wear the WWF belt! |
