The Strikes and Raids tend to boil down to Halo's old Firefight mode with traveling between set-pieces. This seems like Bungie is being more honest with its roots. Interesting to actually see the Prison of Elders, too.

By new bounties, you mean new objectives you'll be doing in the same, boring areas, and new faction that'll reward you with nothing more than outdated items and commendations.

I don't think outdated items will be an issue now that they're adding ways to upgrade your own gear. I've gotten 331 weapon drops from Vanguard and Crucible as well, so I never really ran into useless items in terms of power since the Crota patches.

I'm more excited for new kinds of weapon perks.

Osiris trials I think go live too. Which means everyone's got a shot on getting The Fate of All Fools exotic scout rifle.

Almost lost a control game because we had a pretty big lead and then the game kicked somebody out and had us playing defense to pick up a slim lead. Hate that. It's like the game knows we have a big lead and tries to handicap.

Destiny could learn a thing or two from Bloodborne's Chalice Dungeon. A procedural generated Raid would break up the repetition of it all.

- The new Reef social space has an NPC that will give out Quests like the goth chick back at the Tower.
- You can 'Ascend' all Legendary weapon and armor to the new highest ATK level.
- Armor too.
- And Exotics.
- The Iron Banner 'Reforge' perk swapping thing will now be a mainstay at the Gunsmith. It will still be random, though.

How heavy is it on "the grind" still? I mean, I know it is a grind for loot type of game, but is the variety improved as well?

Grind for armor crafting materials is the worse. They should sell the stuff like 10 for 500 glimmer or something. Circumvent all that bullshit hoping that green engram is a armor piece you can break down, not a weapon on your second playthrough as another character.

They did it with the planet specific materials. I think 10 marks for 10 pieces.

They shouldn't limit marks to the degree that they do. I've got two commendations for Vanguard and one for crucible but have to wait awhile for the marks to use them. Pretty dumb. If you want people to grind then don't have these limitations.

What could also be of help is some sort of currency exchange. Giving up X number of item A for X number of item B would make everything worth something again.

The grind is real in Destiny. Usually in regard to the final upgrade steps for a weapon or armor. The game does not give out ascendent shards and energies like that. XP and planet resources are kinda easy, though I'd ask for more resources per chest.

I'll be playing today if anyone wants to rock. Been playing way too much Hardline and I've been getting back into Destiny.

Upcoming update for the game will be dropping the Commendations system. Any commendations earned by the time the update arrives can be redeemable for reputation points.

Instead, we're getting the Prison of Elders three-player PVE feature (which hasn't been fully revealed yet), and Trials of Osiris, a new PVP event. We just got some new information on the latter activity today, and it is catering to hardcore players. It's strictly 3v3, with no respawns (revives only), and there will be no matchmaking.

Every round will feature a new team, and three losses results in an automatic removal -- you'll have to re-enter the trials again to get back into the hopper. It will feature the same map throughout the entire week, resetting on Tuesdays like other PVE events, with a Friday through Monday window. The rewards will be great, with 34-Light (the max) armor being offered, and max-365 weapons.

The idea is that you'll keep playing in the Trials of Osiris hopper over and over if you fail, looking to net more rewards if you win more subsequent matches. Matching up with new teams every time ensures that you aren't killed by the same players over and over. Bungie is teasing a special reward if you win all nine games in a row.

Aside from the lack of a raid, House of Wolves sounds like Bungie finally ironed out all crap from launch to Dark Below. Making Crucible better, and giving us a challenge in Trials of Osiris.

Excited to play it. Hard part is prying my fireteam away from Witcher 3.

Trials has a gambling element to it. Sounds like the coin challenge modes in SmashU. Interesting.

Bungie also revealed a new weapon type called Sidearms, which are fast firing pistols for the special weapon slot. Not to be confused with Hand Cannons, even though that's what will happen when Wolves drops.

Already chirping on how Sidearms are gonna eventually rule PvP. Out of ammo, switch to a side arm. Who the hell needs a shotgun or fusion rifle?

Sidearms look significantly weaker than primaries and loaded up Fusions and Shotties. No way in hell will they dominate anything. They seem like a last ditch weapon for PvE situation.

Weapons
  • Fixed an issue in which Vex Mythoclast was not respawning with primary ammunition
  • Fixed an issue with the Hive Disruptor perk, which now appears in the Black Hammer perk set again

  • Commendations are no longer required to purchase gear
  • Commendations can now be converted to receive +250 gains in Vanguard, Crucible, or Faction reputation

User Interface
  • Vendor Interaction Panel has been updated to support Quest chains
  • Vendor Interaction Panel now has better animations and fewer popping issues
  • Number of buffs that can be displayed on the Character screen has been increased
  • Inventory item stacks that have reached their highest possible count will now display gold numbers along with an alert in the tooltip that maximum quantities have been acquired


Audio

Companion

Technical
  • Addressed a crash on Xbox One that was induced when too many explosions/projectiles were generated
  • Fixed an issue that affected the network quality user interface
  • Indicators will no longer display persistently bad ("red") quality after a user's connection recovers from a temporary quality issue
  • The quality indicators should now always correctly reflect a user's live connection quality


*Addendum
  • We have discovered that Legendary Engrams will drop in 1.2.0 that the Cryptarchs will not recognize
  • Hold on to all newly-acquired purple Engrams until May 19th to benefit from their upgraded decryption skillset

I have no clue where these post target Ether Key chests spawn. Feels like a literal easter egg hut, only the egg disappears after 90 seconds. Hell, the event itself seems a bit "unreliable" timewise. I spent about 30 minutes hitting one up 3 times, then tried with another character and wasted an hour with no appearance. In both cases, I dont know what I'm doing wrong.

Also, seems to be an issue with using the companion to vault/retrieve items on the fly.

It actually is a pain in the ass, unless you gangbang the target with a bunch of helpful strangers and then everyone scatters in different directions. Relic Iron is red rocks among a bunch more red rocks.) The glowing box jumps out against all that "black and white" where its harder to spot on Earth or Venus.

And they seem to have had enough people bitch about the app issue that it has been rectified within a 24hr timeframe. So, there's that.

I feel like an anti social slacker as far as this game is concerned, though. I grind. I attempt solo nightfalls (they seem to have changed up Omnigul's behavior and escort patterns at the end to make that one more difficult, but still not technically impossible). However, I have yet to truly run VoG , and only got in on a group that actually killed Crota once. Its a monumental task to get my crew of people I run with to even get on, as I was the late comer to even getting a One, let alone playing Destiny. I don't like the idea of continually seeking out random strangers, though. Its always a crapshoot of kids who spend the better part of two hours trying to cheeze one section or grown ass men who take their pursuit of a Vex Mythoclast WAY too seriously.

Not sure how this Osiris deal is gonna shake out for me on that front. Having actual stakes is likely going to work against the guy who doesn't live and breathe team based PvP, let alone with strangers. I feel like I'm going to get an influx of dickery because i'm not as twitch shooty as Douchebag McNeckvein or the kid who's out of school for the summer and has literally nothing else to do.

Skywatch has treated me pretty well, because there's only like three or four places it can be. If it shows up behind the gate right by the entrance from the Lunar Complex, you can conceivably go in and out of the area and reloot it like four or five times.

Still nothing but probably shit blues, but hey.

Yeah, some still work, but others are presumably DLC centric loot and "unrecognizable" by the Cryptarch til the expansion update proper.

It seemed before the Wolf reward chest locations spawned according to event location. Now, it seems pretty random. So of course the one on Archer's line likes to spawn on the damn rail on the opposite side from where you have to climb onto it.

Also, the companion seems to have gotten an overhaul. Looks/functions more like the full Bungie.net site than it used to.

I do NOT have HoW yet so I can't do the Strike, Prison, Osiris, or story missions. But it seems the gear, new power levels, and bounties are available. As well as the Reef. I just put a bunch of my exotics on 365 ATK earlier. Don't have any Sidearms yet.

We should get together and do stuff. Stuff I can do at least.

Only have done Queen's bounties so far (which are fun). Only real drawback to those is the high priority ones will make you wait a while until the drop ship comes in. Most times I'm sitting away from enemies giving me trouble until they show up. And players will be doing the same thing. Maybe 5 minute intervals would work?

Besides that, I'll tackle the story tomorrow. Today was screwing around with my characters, cashing in radiants and commendations, and upping whatever gear I could.

And THANK GOD I stashed away my Vision of Confluence and my old Queen's Wrath gear from the first event. Gonna come in handy.
