This is an easy one for me. Punk in every way. I know a lot of people will dock him for his personality/coming off as a dick a lot of the time but as a performer, he was on another level.

Where as Edge's feud with Kane hurt Kane's character, Punks feud with Kane revitalized it.
Winner: CM Punk |

Edge. Punk was always okay to me but that's it. 1, maybe 2, legit amazing years. Few decent years. He had epic matches with Cena but that's not enough to carry him past Edge.

I forget that Edge even had a WrestleMania world title match against Chris Jericho until the subject comes up. And even then, I remember nothing at all about the match.
Come to think of it, every rivalry/match they had against the same person, I find WAY more memorable with Punk as the opponent. Cena, Jericho, Taker, Kane... |

Douchebaggery and hottest wife goes, it's a close one but Punk takes it.
As for the rest Edge takes it. |

Edge, better body of work at a higher level, greater achievements and a better range of characters as a performer.
He was a key player for longer and I think he was a bigger star than Punk and much more memorable for me personally. |

Punk shook things up and changed the game. Joe, AJ, Daniel Bryan, Cesaro. Not sure if any of those guys would have had a place in WWE if not for Punk being the first ROHguy to switch.
Punk wins. |

CM Punk on an entirely different level than Edge, in my opinion. CM Punk just felt like a "big deal" in a way that Edge never did.
I can remember being invested in so many Punk stories/moments/matches. I remember Edge being good, and I can remember the odd feud here and there, but none of them are on the level of Punk. Say what you will about CM Punk personally, but in his career as a rassler, he brought something that has yet to be replaced..... While Edge brought something that was easily replaced. |

Good Lord I would take punk over edge every day of the week. Their in ring skills are definitely comparable but Punk was just on another level on the mic.

Edge spear sucked. GTO sucked.
CM Punk though was smarter, and better on the mic by a mile. I only really liked Edge for his ladder matches. Punk had way better matches throughout his career. |

I really think Punk is overrated by people and I am not sure why. He had a good run for a few years and some great matches but I remember a lot of crap too. ECW, Triple H, Jericho feud, stuff with Ziggler, new nexus etc...
His feud with Cena and "pipebomb" seem to have defined him, but i don't think his career shapes up to Edge's in any way, shape or form. Edge's was longer, had more success. He had great singles and tag runs. He also had way more memorable feuds than Punk imo. Christian, Foley, Angle, Matt Hardy, Taker, Cena etc... A FAR stronger body of work than Punk overall. |

CM Punk. One of the top three of all time.
Edge is amazing, and easily up there as one of the best, but whatever feud he was in, whatever match he was involved with or whatever promo he was cutting, CM Punk ALWAYS managed to entertain me. |

Pretty easy pick for me. Now that's just me personally. I wasn't watching wrestling during Edge's initial singles run like when he first got the rated R moniker. Then again, I also missed punk on ROH and his entry to wwe. So I missed him getting shit on in "ecw" and becoming more and more of a cult favorite and his world title feud against Jeff Hardy. Basically what I'm saying is that I'm immune to being part of the internet markdom that propelled punk and that, if that does exist for me, it would favor Edge because I was watching for Brood, E and C and those epic dudley/hardy/EC feuds and matches.
All that being said it was an easy punk pick for me. When I came back to wrestling, I was pretty captivated by the Straight Edge Society and Punk on the mic really brought me in where as I thought Edge was kinda slow and boring. I wanted to like him and knowing his love for the business I wanted to love him even more but I was really forcing myself to. Never had to do that with Punk. His career isn't over yet, either. |

Punk.
Both were pretty good in terms of promos and characters/gimmicks but felt Punk was better in terms of in-rings skills and in star power since he managed to reach mainstream status. Probably could have been even bigger as a star had things turned out differently between him and the WWE near the end of his career. Only real bright side was it did lead to Bryan getting the chance to shine as a mega star even if it was for a very brief moment in-ring wise. |

Edge was awesome but Punk just took one moment and reinvented WWE 2011-13. His promo skills and matches with Cena. Also thanks to him that we have guys like Styles, Rollins, Joe, Zayn and Owens on the levels they are at. |

Edge's Ladder/TLC match legacy is bigger than Punk's legacy, yeah Punk helped all the indy guy's get in WWE, and all those indy guys are now always in Ladder/TLC matches.
Edge was also a better in ring performer. |

Edge's matches against del Rio, Cena and Jericho are some of the more forgettable WrestleMania world title matches ever. His match with Taker is one of the more forgettable WrestleMania main events ever.
Punk's matches against those same guys were fucking fantastic. Mainly, the Cena one at MITB is an all-time classic and his street fight against Jericho was one of the best non-big 4 PPV matches I've ever seen. |

I voted for Edge out of sympathy. CM Punk is greatness. Wish he wouldn't have burned bridges and failed at MMA.

Were all those talents specifically brought in because of CM Punk though? Punk's pipebomb when he was at his hottest was July 2011. Bryan was already there. Cesaro was already there. Tyson Kidd was already there. (That's all I'm gonna mention since I'm running late but I'm sure there were others.) No NXT wasn't like it is now, but the cream of the indy crop was signed before Punk got at his hottest.
