Baseless stereotypes. If anything, people invest in deeper and more interconnected television content than ever.

Probably, in the end it makes no difference. They have replaced pyro with Led's .. probably safer and maybe less for insurance

I have to agree with Road Dogg. I'm sure in three months nobody will care because we'll all be used to it.
A good chunk of wrestling fans seem to be very protective of what they watch and along with some of them wearing their nostalgia glasses, they don't like change unless it's change that they want. When the ropes changed to white a few years back, some fans complained. About a month or so later, nobody cared about the ropes. When the stages for Raw and SmackDown changed to the HD setup, people complained. Again, a month or so later, nobody cared. When Titantrons were scrapped in favour of what we have now, people complained, but now nobody cares. And I really don't need to go into detail about when changes are made to the designs of championships. But that's (some) wrestling fans for you. Personally, I will miss pyro and I'm sure guys like Kane and special appearances from, for example, Batista (if that ever happens) will have their pyro but to me, it's no big deal. Anyway, with the amount of cold openings Raw done before the second split, I'm used to not seeing pyro all the time. |

It's not that nobody cared about the set designs. Every so often, things will come up like "How do you set the shows apart" and people say "different sets." It was like one of the most common pieces of input you'd see around the place. I STILL hate the championship belt designs, but hate how they are booked even more. There's a difference between people not caring and people just dropping an issue because it's done and they have to deal with it. People get sick of homogenization, and they eventually do things like stop watching show in enough numbers that you drop from #2 to #6. Besides, the point isn't actually about the pyro, it's about Road Dogg being a public figure and talking down to audiences. Even if you do hold contempt for people, you don't go public with it and air it. "Unprofessional" isn't even the right word. It's Russo-level shit. Plus, it's more of that Vince McMahon/CyNick-spouted (in the wrestling sense, you see it all over the place) millennial trope bullshit that has been myth-busted time and time again. No, they're not lazy. No, they aren't dumb. No, their attention spans aren't worse. It's an old dude myth that gets perpetuated because it feels intuitively true to old dudes without anything to back it up. It fucks with every logic center in my brain. It's talking out your ass. Someone in Road Dogg's position should not be doing that on Twitter. Period. Talk out your ass as a punter all you want. People will bust your balls with facts and data when they feel the need. But when you are in the position of representing the creative direction of a stagnant company, don't show yourself to be an ass-talker. Fuck's sake. |

Pyro is definitely noticeable. It definitely gets the crowd to react, even if it was just for the opening of a show. Definitely adds to "characters" to, when properly applied.
They should still do shit like that for "PPV's". Something needs to set them apart. If the PPV's start to feel like weekly program (as they are more and more), I will be inclined to cancel the sub and forget about it altogether. I stopped weekly over a year ago and it increased my enjoyment of what I did watch when I watched PPV's. But if they get bland like weekly programming, yea.... |

It's just another symptom of how boring and samesy it all is. It might be a small thing, but it's all those small things together that make the product to boring and unimaginative.
Making everything look the same is not going to help that |

No, it's not, and it's a symptom of them needing to cut costs. I personally don't give a shit about pyro, but it reminds me of when the crowd was chanting "Fire Russo!" and Dixie Carter's response was to say "It wasn't even Russo who wrote that segment!". Um, there is a grander point here being missed...

I admit I dont follow that avidly anymore but arent ratings down quite brutally across time? It seems a bit of a narrow view to think no one cares about those things if ratings are down. I'm not saying thats necessarily the reason but any business taking a "they will get used to it approach" when one of its key metrics is falling seems short sighted to me. |

Yes for RAW but not really for Smackdown.
Them removing pyro is just going to make their usual show format even more bland or sterile going forward. Cool King and WWE's Road Dogg are right about the complaints not being an issue after a while but WWE also keeps giving less reasons for people to stick around for the long term. |

Do you think they should attempt to make the PPV's "different" or stand out or anything? Perhaps use pyro/effects ONLY on PPV's and/or mix up the set design just a bit. I dunno man, it is all starting to blend and become same same. |

Pyro has its place in wrestling. Maybe not for every RAW or SmackDown or entrance, but if someone really calls for pyro -- give them pyro. It should come about organically as an aesthetic decision. |

I think we're potentially putting the cart before the horse; I agree that pyro and unique sets would help the appeal of PPV/specials but there's far more pressing issues that would help more.
The shoe-horning of feuds into gimmick matches to suit the theme of the PPV is a big issue for me. As are the throw-away multi-person matches, or rematches of luke-warm programmes (looking at you Mahal/Orton). Or needlessly racing through hot feuds. |

Oh, I don't think pyro is the biggest issue. It's just the attitude around the homogenization that bothers me. And the reason they need to cut costs is because their product is cold.

Lol, I don't know how wise that move of Emma's is. They tried making her a star, but she couldn't pull it off. She's lucky to be there, given they fired her once.

Rey Mysterio would be a welcome attraction anywhere, but I can't really see where he fits into the current WWE landscape, to be honest.

How is Rey's work right now? is he working his more plodding wwe style he worked towards the end of his run, or has the time off given him some more oomph?

I have the impression he's had more oomph, but I cannot bear witness to this myself. I don't imagine that anyone who hires him expects him to go full-time.

Given the shit AAA pulled by screwing over Morrison and Taya, I can't imagine that either of them are long for the AAA/LU world. I imagine that Morrison is locked in, but I can see him getting out of it, because AAA are notoriously shit at contracts.
If he does, it wouldn't surprise me to see Morrison pop-up in the WWE for either a feud or partnership with The Miz. |

Speaking of Rey, he'll be headlining a nearby indy show next month with Cody Rhodes.
That same promotion ran a show here in town last Friday that saw Cody and Ricochet have a banger of a main event. Jack Swagger and Dijak had a fun match earlier on the card too. I'd go see that promotion again. |

Download a browser addon called "Hola". It will let you get around any geo-location based DRM. It will give you a little icon in the right-corner of your browser, you simply select what country you want to "spoof" your network settings from and viola. |
