Anyone playing Doom (2016) online?
Really fun game, old school FPS. I wish they had weapon pick up like in Quake Live but other then that Ive been having a lot of fun with it. Picked it up on Steam sale for $20.

Doom seemed like an alright multiplayer, but nothing really special. Too many other superior shooters imo, to devote any time to this beyond single player.

I think quite the opposite is true. Doom is a breath of fresh air in that it is a throwback to old school FPS games that are more arcadelike with fast movement, smaller maps and fast action as opposed to modern shooters with enormous maps and slow gameplay like Battlefield. The only bad thing I can say about it's multiplayer is that it added a layout system like in modern games instead of having weapon pickups like in Quake Live. Other then that I think its a very unique game these days.

I love the throwback feel of Doom's gameplay in singleplayer, and how they meld it witj modern mechanics, but as a competitive multiplayer game, I feel it's too shallow to sustain it's fun factor in the face of games like Titanfall 2 and Overwatch, which just have a lot more depth, imo.

More complicated not necessarily better. Sometimes you want to play a more simple experience to relax after work, imo. Also, games like Doom and Quake Live are not "shallow", they work well to isolate pure skill in movement, aim and other base mechanics, while games like Titanfall and Overwatch let you compensate for not having the best pure reaction time via using abilities or different classes. Map knowledge is also crucial in Doom as is timing. Its that kind of pure isolated skill based gameplay that makes it so much fun for me. For the record, Im not some sort of game master and I rarely top the scoreboard but I love going against another player where all that matters is our pure fps skill. I like the free to play Dirty Bomb btw, much better than Overwatch for class based deep games. Overwatch's graphics and art style are a huge turn off for me. Dirty Bomb isn't realistic either, but I played the Overwatch beta and couldn't get into its style at all. I bet you would like Dirty Bomb if you try it. |

Single player is phenomenal and worth the price of admissiit n alone
Played a bit of the multiplayer but never really got into it. They have been patching it regularly tho |
