Should WWE have one set of tag titles?
I was listening to Jim Cornette's podcast and (big suprise ) he didn't like either of the tag title matches at Mania. He did bring up a good point that there were 9 title matches on the card and he feels it "devalues" the titles. So my question is, should they just have one set of tag champs and have the titles defended across both brands on the main roster?

Are you saying the champs would change shows like the Undisupted champ did?

No. With a roster that big, there will be too many teams not doing anything. The titles are an easy prop for the lazy writers to tie into a storyline....

They should have US Tag Titles too like they used to have in WCW. Also a six man tag team title would be awesome. More belts please.

I would also like the women to have 1 champ who floats from show to show. |

they should have 1 major men's title, 1 major women's title (all the girls are RAW exclusive), 1 cruiserweight title (all the cruisers are SD exclusive), and 1 tag title
then each brand should have the IC or US title that's on TV all trhe time and defended often. |

Yeah, having two world titles/tag titles/women's titles despite it being one company is really stupid.
Wadding's idea is the way to go. Though I don't think it's necessary to have the women exclusive to one brand. Just bring the US and IC titles up as the main titles for each brand and have one champion looking down over both brands. |

Yes. Outside of a few moments, WWE's Creative has been generally terrible with their booking of the tag divisions.
Also doesn't help there isn't enough real star power to support 2 divisions on the main roster. |

They don't have enough creative wherewithal to have one deep division. Right now the easy booking is have a team beat the champs in a non title match to build them up, then have the title match. It's an easy, albeit lazy way to keep the title picture going.
If they combine the division, they'll have too many teams they won't know what to do with and it'll make things worse, even though booking multiple feuds on 5 hours of television shouldn't be that hard, but we know they won't do that. |

I'd keep these teams and toss the rest: The Bludgeon Brothers Gable and Benjamin The New Day The Usos The Authors of Pain The Bar Gallows and Anderson The Revival Maybe split Gable & Benjamin and add either Breezango or Titus Worldwide for a better face-heel balance. |

Hmm, a six man tag title would be interesting if they only had one set of tag belts. Undisputed Era, Sanity, New Day, Miztourage, Balor Club.... is Akira Tazowa still apart of Titus Worldwide? Then they can always have Braun or Bray reunite with the Bludgeon Bros for a run, or create some new teams out of "similar gimmick" guys (EC3 or Tye Dillenger with Moss and Sabatelli, reunite American Alpha with Shelton) it would just give more guys directions they could go with their gimmicks.

Damn that Cornette for wanting logic in his wrestling. Grrr. Doesn't he know it's supposed to feature children and people the size of children?
The brand split is dumb. If you want to focus on different people on different shows, you can do that without boxing yourself in and having 4 unnecessary championships. Philosophically, having multiple champions for one things makes no sense -- being the only one is what being the champion is supposed to mean. There should be a singles belt, tag belts and a women's belt. If you want to keep going with the bullshit cruiserweight thing, they can have a belt, I suppose -- but I just don't get that experiment. If you want to do six-man tag belts and a women's tag belt or whatever -- cool. At least they mean different things. When everybody is a champion, what does being a champion mean? What does it actually add to a guy? Who was the last guy to even get over by winning the "World Title?" It doesn't make anyone anymore because it's an arbitrary role people fill on rotation. |
