WWE 2k16
Stuff about this year's version is slowly trickling in with the big announcement so far being Stone Cold getting the Showcase treatment for WWE 2k16.
Quote:
Earlier in the week, 2K Games revealed the logo and release date for the game. October 27th to be specific and arriving for the Xbox One, Xbox 360, PS3, and PS4. Like WWE 2k15, PC version will arrive at a later date.
Besides those two, its been mostly wrestlers revealing they got scanned for WWE 2k16's roster (ex. Sasha Banks, etc.) and the scanning tech being more advanced than in last year's game for info about the game. |

I miss the days of a decade or so ago when I genuinely couldn't wait to hear about the next WWE game. I don't think 2k15 was a bad game by any means. In fact, it had some genuinely nice gameplay improvements. But I still got bored of it in almost record time and it'll take more than just the "largest roster ever" (which will probably have loads of duplicates as always) to get me interested.

Also, an Austin Attitude Era-themed Showcase mode is extremely meh. They already covered all of it thoroughly in WWE13.

Exactly @Vito Cruz. They even had a completely unnecessary Off-Script chapter that unlocks when the end of the campaign is done!
They've done 30 Years of WM with 2K14...I wonder how a similar story mode highlighting big SummerSlam, Survivor Series or Royal Rumble feuds would go over with fans? |

The fact is there was just too much removed for it to be a good game, imo. I don't fault them for that, as things had to change on the gameplay and visual side, and working with a new console especially one as complex as the Xbone and Ps4 is extremely difficult. But it is what it is.
I'm still glad they did it, as I found the gameplay much more enjoyable. If they fixed the pin meter problem, and put back all the features they took out, I would go as far as to say it would be the greatest WWE game ever. |

Also echoing everyone else on the austin thing. I liked that they gave us feuds we've never played in story mode before.
Bryan vs The Authority Zayn vs Neville/Owens Those would be good. |

I knew 2k15 would be bare bones and I gave them a year to tighten up. 2k16 should be when things look like how they were feature wise. No excuses now.

In other words, if 2K is sole developer I want it to FEEL like a 2K sim, I don't want it to feel like there's any teace of THQ in there. Time to move forward. |

The game will have a pretty good chance of sucking on the XBox 360.

Wish they'd fuck off with last gen. It will probably just hold current gen back.

It still makes sense to have games for the 360/Ps3. Way more people to buy the game and at the same price point.

Last or second to last version for the older consoles. I think. They should have two different teams working on both versions though. No need to strip down one version at the others expense and vice versa. No need for custom soundtracks to be eliminated on the 360 if they can't do it on the newer versions yet.

Bought 2K15 at launch with the season pass and I've never regretted anything more. The game was amazing graphically but they stripped away so many of the things that made the games worthwhile for me. CAWs were really limited and you couldn't even create Divas at all, and then the lack of the ability to put in custom entrance music. I mean the whole thing was just a fiasco in my opinion. If this one doesn't bring those things back then I'll be taking a pass on it.

They announced that wrestlers would be appearing in this game. At least 6 of them in fact.

Still no game play talk. Are they stupid? That's why people are still going back to SDvR, DoR, and No Mercy...

Yeah, I thought last year's was a great step in the right direction, and if they add a few more improvements to the sim style gameplay, it could be really great.
Just had way too much content removed for me to give the game as a whole an endorsement. |

Each year always has the largest roster as a main selling point, doesn't matter if they look like crap.
Not liking they are focusing on Austin for the showcase mode, that was pretty much the Attitude mode from a few years ago. I'm still working my way through 2k15's Universe mode, haven't made a year yet. |

There's not a chance in hell that there aren't a ton of duplicates on the "largest roster ever" to make up the numbers.

I know it's not the best comparison, but even Lego Marvel had around 90 charecters, and they had TONS of duplicates with different attributes. SURELY, they could have done better.

So much for the duplicates theory. Looks like it actually will be the largest roster ever.

Now that that's settled, it's all about what they're bringing back that they took out from last year's. I'm honestly not expecting everything to come back, and won't be upset if it doesn't, but at least over half the content absent from 2k15 would have to return for me to give a thumbs up. Honestly feel like WWE games should go the Call of Duty route and have two different developers that alternate each year. WWE gets their annual profit, and fans get a better quality product that had more time in development. Honestly don't know why more annual franchises don't do that. |

Also, rather than a bunch of legends, I'm hoping this big roster includes every contracted main roster guy, and a full NXT roster.

Yeah, Match types, Create-an-Arena, and more CAW slots were probably the biggest omissions that absolutely have to be returned to the game.

In addition to more CAW slots, I'm hoping against hope that the default roster will have their own slots for edited costumes.
Longshot though, I know. In the end, I would begrudgingly accept an increase to 50 CAW slots. Though I'd be happy with at least 75. Still think the best idea is tying all created content to the hard drive, so you can just make as much as you have space for. Then we wouldn't even have these problems. I mean that's possible, right? |

Really wish they'd deepen and fix CAW/CAC/CAA and either also fix and flesh out Universe Mode or click and drag that thing to the trash can and hit delete.
