About friggen time. He was so ridiculously over in late 84-early 85 until he broke his leg chasing Johnny V around the outside of a ring.
From what I've heard he's probably the nicest guy in wrestling. Good for him. |

Seconded. Hillbilly had that odd Face charisma where he didn't need to cut a killer promo or work a ☆☆☆☆☆ match every night to make the crowd root for him. He also passed the ultimate test of being popular in the 80's - I can remember arguments over who got to be him when we played "WWF" during recess

Yeah but he was never getting a legitimate push. Keep him strong enough to stay over deal. They did a lot of that back then. Gimmick guys like Hillbilly and Koko could get as over as anyone and they were never going to d more than their 12 min act.

Only remember him as being the manager of the Godwinns. Didn't realize he was around for a lot longer in the WWE.

I always wondered what took them so long. He was crazy over during WWE's hottest period, he's always been on really good terms with the company/worked backstage. Seemed weird they were taking their time inducting him.

I think Jim would've gone in during the 1996-2004 years when the HOF was dormant. By the time they reactivated it though they had a massive selection of candidates and it's clear they've never based it on who's been waiting the longest.

Oddly, I thought he was in already as well.
I was pretty big on Hillbilly Jim when I was a young'un. I seem to remember him doing a lot more vignette stuff than in-ring things, so to me, it kinda felt like a treat the few times I saw the guy in a match. |

The mixed midget match with King Kong Bundy is low key one of my favorite special attraction matches of all time.
