I'm trying to watch some fire ass matches on the Network tonight.
Who's got some lesser known sleeper hits for me?

I watched Bryan vs. Ziggler from Bragging Rights 2010 earlier. Haven't seen it since the night it aired. Forgot how good that one was. Very early in Bryan's WWE run and back when Ziggler looked like he had the potential to be a huge deal.

You know any NXT sleepers from like before the Cesaro/Zayn feud? That's when I started watching NXT "full time".
Any matches will do, though. I watched all of Survivor Series 2002 today because they talked about it on Prichard's podcast, and that Jamie Noble/Billy Kidman match was super good. |

Eddie Guerrero vs RVD, Ladder Match for the IC Title on Raw 5/27/2002
siiiiiiiick feud with both guys on top of their game, this is also the match where the fan tips over the ladder & Eddie goes apeshit. Post-match has a big pull-apart brawl with Benoit sneakattacking & Eddie hitting a frogsplash on Stone Cold just before he walked out of the company - I may have to check this out on the network to see how much they hacked it up for obv reasons |

Oh my god, stop. I was thinking EXACTLY about that match earlier and was about to look up the date. I remember watching live and some idiot ran in the ring. Definitely starting there.

I think I went to a house show around this time and saw RVD v. Eddie in a cage match too.

Something to look up more as an oddity than for work rate -
Crush Girls vs Leilani Kai & Black Venus, Superstars of Wrestling - 4/12/86 Crush Girls were getting a tryout from Japan, & it was odd as Fuck seeing them try to fit into the WWF Women's mold of pearshaped Moolah trainees hitting 10 minutes worth of slowmotion hairpull takeovers. |

I'd rather watch some lesser talked about good matches than some completely obscure no rope match with William Regal and Samoa Joe.

Seeing Benoit's name in here.....Benoit/Raven from Souled Out 1998 was really good.
For a bonus, watch the 8 man cruiserweight tag right before it. Crazy WCW luchadore stuff in its prime. Oddly enough the Jericho/Rey match on that same show isn't very good mostly cause Rey's knee was balky. They obviously had far better matches down the line. |

Was that Halloween Havoc 98 when Raven and Jericho had that TV title match that opened the show and was really good?

Speaking of WCW in that era, Randy Savage vs DDP @ Spring Stampede 97
Really fun, well worked No DQ match with both guys hitting big spots all over the ringside area. I'm trying to think if good examples of "Gimmick" matches to showcase |

If you're talking gimmick matches, not sure if you watch NXT, but that DIY v. Authors of Pain ladder match is fucking FIRE hot. Not super long ago, but really, really, really good.

There's dumb enjoyment in watching that just because it's Kanyon in the middle of his Positively Kanyon phase, he was a hoot in that kind of stuff

Man, what a fucking moron that jumped in the ring during that ladder match. He could've fucked Eddie up bad knocking over that ladder.
I guess he's immortalized on the Network now, though. Idiot. |

There's a lot of WCW stuff I haven't seen because I would only watch the first hour of Nitro. Once Raw came on, I stayed there the whole time.

It's one of those matches where if a non-wrestling fan were like "how do you watch that shit?", I could put on and be like "how could you NOT watch this shit?".

Eddie beats the shit out of him, he was pissed - I thought it looked less like the security was trying to apprehend him than just trying to get him away from Eddie's latino heeeeaaaat

Austin v. Eddie would have been a great feud if Austin had stayed and managed to keep his heart in it.

Supposedly not long before Eddie passed, Vince was planning on following up the excellent HBK/Angle match from WM21 with HBK/Eddie at WM22. Basically Mania was going to be viewed as a way to get HBK dream matches from guys on the SmackDown brand.
God damn Eddie/HBK would've been so fucking good. |
