Hawk on his own would have been fine. D Von would not.

Oh yeah definitely, for whatever reason I decided to base this on Animal and Bubba not existing. Whether it makes sense is another thing.

I'll admit that Reverend D-Von was a guilty pleasure of mine. It's not that it was good or anything, I just always had a soft spot for over the top gimmicks in the undercard and by the time D-Von showed up I think you had The Hurricane and Goldust as the only real "gimmick" guys in the company. D-Von cutting a serious promo deriding masturbation and having to do it with a straight face made me laugh so much.
That being said, while I thought it made for a nice comedy heel gimmick, that's the furthest extent D-Von ever could've reasonably gotten on his own. A serious D-Von solo push would've gone over like a fart in church (pun intended). Hawk at least could believably make something of himself on his own, and as mentioned in the last thread he was a much better wrestler than he was allowed to showcase when siloed into a tag team. |

I just could never really get into D-Von for any reason at all. I at least laughed at a few things Hawk said. So Hawk gets the nod.

Whilst I do appreciate the points about Hawk not making it on his own, I do think that there was a lot more potential there. Hawk wins for the big paws alone. Not a knock on D-Von. I've always liked him more than Bubba and he's always seemed like he puts the effort in and whatever.

Hawk had a really good NWA title match against Flair in 1988 in the finals of the Bunkhouse Stampede. I understand that it's Flair and he can make anyone look good, but Hawk held his own

Voted for Hawk although was pretty much a toss up for reasons.
Felt both were a lot better as part of a tag team and seen very little of Hawk's non-WWF era work. Reverend D-Von wasn't terrible but the only real memorable thing about the gimmick was it being associated with the debut of Batista. |

Yes, Destor, I understand that @ your rep message, however, it doesn't change the fact that they are world-renowned tag champions. Just sayin'.

Hawk....decent worker and one half of my favourite tag teams....I liked the Dudley's but I dunno about D-Von on his own, and the gimmick of the Dudley's kinda wore thin once in a while, where I found the Warriors never did.
