Had to sit through a Becky Lynch vs Tamina Snuka match at a house show over the weekend. Tamina is fucking horrible. Becky's entrance is awesome though.

What do you expect? Tamina never fucking wrestles. She just stood around other people who wrestle for like 85% of her WWE tenure. Can't get better if you never do squat.

Still better than Eva Marie, though. Tamina might be the shits, but isn't a legit danger to her opponent.

According to the Observer, WWE rumored to have given the Rey Mysterio treatment to Daniel Bryan's contract in the sense it can't end unless the WWE grants his release. Likely would have to threaten a lawsuit like Rey did multiple times in order to get released now.

He has 2 years left but is taking a big paycut as a result and has to make up all lost time if he ever returns as an active wrestler. WWE's way of making sure Bryan can't be of any use to any other wrestling company any time soon.

That particular edition of RAW averaged 3.89 million viewers, which, in itself, was down 11.67% from the same week in 2014.

The rating for the 2016 show was a 2.36, down 12.92% from the same week in 2015, and also the lowest January rating since before the Monday Night Wars.

The 2015 rating was a 2.71, down 12.86% from the previous year. It’s important to note that 2015 was the first year that of the current format of the NCAA college football playoffs, meaning that the championship game was later than it had been in previous years and had never gone up against RAW prior to that.

The average for the month of January is now 3.451 million viewers, well down from January 2015's 4.035 million.

If this trend continues, it would be the 14th straight month that RAW viewership has dropped year-over-year with most of those months seeing a decline of more than 10%. Similarily, the combined rating so far in January is 2.43, down 17.8% from last year’s 2.95 rating in January.

Fantasy booking is the modern day wrestling fan’s favorite past time but that is not the subject of this week’s blog. Predictions and speculation about the outcome of the Rumble are everywhere but what is generally never discussed is the preparation by all involved that put on a match with this many working parts. So instead of going the traditional route and giving my crystal ball picks for the Rumble, I have decided to give readers a little peek behind the curtain.

There is so much preparation that goes into a match such as the Royal Rumble. Getting everyone from the superstars, referees, producers, camera men, guys in the truck etc. on the same page takes a group effort. I have had the pleasure and honor of officiating many Rumble matches in my 20+ year career as a WWE referee including the first ever Royal Rumble match, so I thought I would focus on what the Royal Rumble day is like for a WWE referee.

Arrival time at the venue for referees depends on which time zone the event is taking place. Regardless of location, referees are at the arena approximately 7-8hrs ahead of the start time. Once the production meeting ends, the guys in stripes find out their assigned matches for the evening. Referees selected to participate in the Rumble now have to attend a meeting with all the talent and producers to go over the match. Everything is discussed from order of elimination, who eliminates who and of course who is slated to win the Royal Rumble. The referees are given a list with all this information on it to go over throughout the day. This list must not be passed around to prevent any potential “leaks” such as surprise entrants and of course the winner.

I remember during the 2008 Royal Rumble that there was to be a huge surprise entrant at #30. So that afternoon, 29 superstars, 4 referees and the producers assigned for that match met in a conference room to go over the match. Once the discussion got down to the final 4, the 26 superstars that were scheduled to be eliminated up to that point were excused from the meeting.

I remember the 08 Rumble very well. It's not often in this generation that we get surprised and it's becoming even less of the norm due to WWE's desire to have a social media and regular media presence (aka shameless self promotion)....That was one of biggest real pops of the 2000s.

Also super hyped to see Ciampa get a singles win. Maybe means he's close ro signing a contract. Guy has unique look and personality from what I've seen of his indy stuff. In ring work is fantastic.
