Jake was the better character by far, but his personal issues kept him from accomplishing anything of any real signifigance in the industry. And while I've seen a few good Roberts matches, I don't remember any 5 star classics, the likes of which Bryan put on on a regular basis.
Easy vote for Bryan. |

I was never that big of a Jake fan. His matches were kind of boring for the most part.

I feel like Jake would have had the better career if he would have kept himself together. He really set the bar for mic work and character work. As it stands though, DB has had the better career.

I'm going to go with Bryan here. Jake was great at what he did, but I do feel that he's kind of overrated. Some of his matches were boring, and his character work is something I may not appreciate as much in retrospect, but Bryan himself had a great character too. I think Jake's is just the more roguish one, which is easy to grab a handle on.
Bryan as the asshole boyfriend to AJ Lee is some of my favorite character work in modern WWE. |

Jake was a great talent but halfassed it in the ring. He did have some amazing matches with steamboat and savage but was never motivated enough to carry anyone
Bryan had better matches and accomplished more. |

Jake was great for psychology but he was never the same after Honky got him with that "gimmicked" guitar. Honky is a real shithead. Jake never really had the matches to match his iconic status.

So? Then say that in the first place. Dont try discredit Danielson because of your personal taste. You tried to say he was only something in the indies when he achieved mainstream success, predetermined or not. Dont try back track.

If Jake performed every match like he performed at the Heroes of Wrestling PPV I'd probably vote for him, that was VERY entertaining. But Bryan has entertained me a lot more and was in top performance mode for a lot longer than Jake The Snake. Plus I can't think of one classic Jake The Snake match. Awesome promo. But so is Dbry. Dbry here.

I can't remember one Jake Roberts match I actually liked. There are hours upon hours of Bryan matches that I love and can always be entertained by. Jake was a great promo, but I'd be bored just listening to his promos after awhile. A Bryan match will always be entertaining. Voting Daniel Bryan.

I had to give this round to Jake Roberts. Yes, Bryan is better in the ring than Jake, but I was a huge Jake Roberts fan as a kid. His promos, his entire persona was so creepy and well done. Jake's matches I think were underrated as well, I think he was a lot better of a wrestler than credit is given to him. If it weren't for his personal demons, I think he would've been a much much bigger legend. That's why I voted for Jake.
Not to take anything from Bryan, I'm a huge Daniel Bryan fan but call it nostalgia goggles or just remembering good times from when I was a kid, but if I had to choose to only watch Jake's work over Bryan's work for the rest of my life, I'd go with Jake Roberts. btw, found it really sad that I wasn't 100% sure if Jake was still alive. |

Bryan. I love jakes whole persona and psychology but thats kinda it. From him I have a lot more moments than matches like him taunting Elizabeth after DDTing the shit outta Savage
falling victim to Undertaker. Little spots in his blindfold match. DB has matches and moments that I love. He can't touch Jake in the promo department though,no sir Jake should be teaching classes on that shit. |

Jake did a whole lot with a little and was probably one of the top five promos of all time, but an easy win for Danielson.

This one is hard. Bryan has def done more with his career than Jake did. Bryan is better in the ring too. But Jake is one of the best characters and promos ever. If Jake wouldn't have gotten in his own way I don't think this would even be close. Gonna have to think on this one some more.

Had to go with DB. Jake was great in his own time and invented the DDT, but I just feel like once again, DB's accomplishments put him over the top FTW for me.

Going massively against the popular opinion here, but I've always felt Jake's promo skills were mega overhyped. His promos (what I've seen) aren't bad, but they're not the be-all-end-all of promos and psychology that people make him out to be.
Maybe it was different in 1989, but watching any of his promos today don't seem any different than what most people are capable of doing. |

Bryan.
Give the nod to Roberts for promo skills but feel Bryan was better in more areas. Bryan managing to reach the top even though it was brief and Roberts never winning any gold in the WWF also helped sway my vote towards Bryan. |

Character and promo and psychology matter more to me than in ring ability and Jake was a better overall performer in my mind. Made me care a lot about stupid angles by being unbelievable on the mic and completely believable as a character.

Largely because daniel bryan brought much more to thw table than Jake. At some point the bell rings and being able to consistantly deliver does hold some notable weight.

I was never into Jake as a kid or even now. He just never did it for me. Kind of like Tito Santana, although I just watched his feud with Savage in 86 and have started to come around.

No one does a good DDT but some people take a good DDT. RVD and Angle spring to mind. A few unknown indy guys too.
Now Arn Anderson had the best set up for the DDT by far. |

Outside of Roberts, Raven's version of the DDT was pretty good.
