When Anthem Entertainment announced they’d officially acquired Global Force Wrestling (GFW) earlier this week, many people asked what it was they were acquiring.

It was an easy joke, yes, but GFW didn’t have much in the way of tangible assets. What they did have, however, was a name that wasn’t a double entendre and that wrestling fans didn’t often say with LOL in front of it.

So, according to a story just published in The Tennessean, the newspaper which covers TNA’s headquarters city of Nashville, from here forward Anthem’s wrestling company will be known as GFW. Their weekly show on Pop TV, Fight Network and other outlets will keep the title Impact.

Obviously, Anthem also acquired Jeff Jarrett, and this announcement confirms he remains in charge of all creative aspects of what is now GFW.

We’ll surely be hearing more about this as Anthem and GFW use this as a fresh start for their branding, and attempt to build off recent ratings increase and the social media success touted in The Tennessean article to grow on across the world with new initiatives like a new on-demand streaming app they plan to make the centerpiece of their video strategy.

Also, I'm pretty sure this is the most TNA thing ever.

1) Start company
2) Get forced out of company, but keep a percentage
3) Start new company
4) New company flounders and starts selling gold bars to idiots on the internet
5) Old company begs your new company to work with them.
6) Old company gets bought out and you get put back in charge.
7) Old company buys your new company which is basically a webpage and some title belts.


All it's missing is a midget in a trash can. Fully expecting a backstage angle on an upcoming show of someone throwing TNA logos into the trash, only for Swoggle to pop out of the trash can and chase them off.

Interesting. Mildly interesting. The GFW brand was just kind of hovering about, it's hard to get excited about it simple being renamed, you know? I'm curious to see how TNA rebuilds, but it's going to be long and arduous, if even possible.

So its now GFW Impact and not just Impact Wrestling? Honestly I think they should have stuck with Impact but this gives them a acronym thats not a joke at least. Still need to find tbeir identity though. They have TNA branded titles, a Impact branded title, and all the GFW titles which the tag titles have already been unified.
