Does the WWE have an agenda when it comes to who they elect as a HoF'er ?
The list of people not in the WWE HoF is astounding, especially when you look at who is in the WWE HoF .
Snoop fucking Dogg and Kid Rock got elected before Owen Hart Demolition British Bulldog Sting is in and he had a fucking cup of tea with the WWE. The motherfucking Godfather is in the Hall of Fame, but not Owen Hart or the others. I've been saying this all to often lately, but i'll say it again. FUCK YOU WWE. It dont matter who did what to who at this point. The fact is, we went to war. And now there aint no going back. It's what war is you know? Once you're in it, you're in it. If it's a lie, then we fight on that lie, but we gotta fight! |

Does Owen's wife own the rights to his likeness or something? I've never been clear on what the issue is there.

Considering he died performing one of their stunts, a lawsuit over this would not do the WWE any public favors.

Speculation is that the lawsuit required them not to promote his likeness. they didnt want them making money off the tragedy they caused. details arent public though.

Whoever can sell tickets and make for a good show. If there was a legit process there would be a miles-long list of ppl who would be in. Shit, you can induct a class or two w/ people from the CWC years alone. Snoop and Kid Rock were inducted into the Celebrity Wing and the legal issues w/ Martha prevented the Hart Of Gold DVD 2-3 yrs ago so just imagine a HOF induction.

The standards for induction are who will garner mainstream attention (the celebrity wing) and who will draw the hardcores who come out for WrestleMania weekend to the ceremony (everyone else). It's all an agenda.

Wasn't Bill Eadie part of a lawsuit against WWE recently? That probably pushed Demolition pretty far to the back of the line as far as a HOF induction.

100%, they book it as a show. The NFL doesn't make Brian Urlacher wait until next year because Ray Lewis is going in this year.
The fact that they have a "headliner" tells you everything you need to know. In terms of agenda of blackballing certain people, I'm sure they do. Guys like Demolition and Honky Tonk Man have said they won't do it unless they got paid like $100,000. So if they think they are gonna hold McMahon up for a payday, I'm sure that they won't be asked a 2nd time. If I was WWE, I also sure as hell wouldn't want to work with people who are trying to use me. Lastly, the fact that WWE can remove somebody from the HOF after they have already been inducted, ala Hulk Hogan, just shows that it really isn't real, and all part of WWEs agenda, whatever that happens to be at the time. Once Hulk comes back, he won't have to be reinducted again, he will just be a HOFer again. |

She has sued them multiple times, including recently when WWE put out a DVD on him. They always settle, probably cause it's just the easiest thing to do.
WWE doesn't own his rights exactly, but they own the rights to their footage. They own the rights to all their footage, with the only exception I can think of being Bret Hart's Stampede Wrestling matches as he owns those. They own the rest of the Stampede footage, just not Bret's matches. Legally though there is a difference between archived footage and using Owen's name to promote future events, i.e. a Hall of Fame show. WWE could probably get away with adding Owen's bio to the HOF webpage with no announcement or fanfare, but in terms of a show that sells tickets, airs on TV, etc. they would need to get a release, which Owen's widow has been unwilling to do. |

Criteria is probably just don't be on Vince's or WWE's blacklist. Macho Man used to be on Vince's list for a very long time while CM Punk is likely on WWE's list for the foreseeable future.
The celeb and Warrior Award wings are pretty much just blatant PR moves by the WWE. Doesn't really add or take away anything from classes in terms of prestige. |

Marty Jannetty is an interesting fringe HOF guy. If not for the lawsuit, I'm still not sure I see him being a Hall of Famer. Maybe if they wanted to induct The Rockers as a team.

Havent they inducted tag teams and a guy from said team as a singles competitor? I think that makes sense. Especially for wrestling.

Are you thinking of Flair going in on his own and as part of The Horsemen?

If Marty Jannetty wasn't such a mess, he'd be in. I don't see them putting Shawn Michaels in with him again, because The Rockers was such a preliminary stage of Shawn Michaels' career. The Horsemen were built around main event Flair. Shawn Michaels would induct him.
Demolition would have gone in years ago if they weren't part of the lawsuit against WWE. Of the people who sued WWE, I think they might be the ones Triple H works hardest at repairing the relationship with. I can see them being bonus characters in a video game within a few years time. The New Day will probably induct them. Personal reasons leave out others and they only like one posthumous entry per year. Plus they also like box-ticking with their entries. It's why they will induct D'Lo Brown and Torrie Wilson within a few years. Yes, they absolutely do have an agenda. |

Martel is a weird one. He left on good terms, kept his nose clean, hadn't bad mouthed the company, yet for whatever reason he has gotten the call. He's more than deserving. Hillbilly Jim was another one that I had in that category for years and he ended up getting the call last year, so I'm hoping Martel is going in soon. |

Yeah, Martel is the most glaring example of someone not being in and nothing really holding it up. Honestly, Vader was probably in that camp for a while too, but even with him you could say that he was always a bit of a shit-stirrer and was working indies and such.

HTM's story isn't that far-fetched. I mean, is there really heat between him and the company? I can imagine them not wanting to give him a live mic though.

Oh yeah, I'm not saying that he's a reputable source, but he's kind of the perfect under-card inductee.

Yeah he has said a lot of things against the company, but he isn't being kept out for that. He turned WWE down once, I doubt they ask a 2nd time unless a guy is like Randy Savage or Bruno. |
