Yeah. The Orioles didn't win the division, the Jays didn't choke away their wildcard spot either. I'm certain you can't count.

It's not like predicting a wonderful Indians team with the best manager in the game were going to do very well is all that bold either.

I'm still thinking that the extended layoff is going to hurt the Indians a bit. I know that the pitching was knackered and could benefit from the break, particularly Andrew Miller. But starting pitchers are creatures of habit and I've just seen teams struggle after a long break a lot in the past decade. More importantly, the Cubs' bats have started to heat up and they haven't had a long break to cool back down - so if Cleveland's arms do have any rust they could be in trouble. Cleveland's bats were already pretty cold to begin with and now they'll have to try and win a series in which the buzzsaw Lester could probably start 3 games if necessary, not to mention they'll be able to throw Hendricks twice.
My gut says that they split in Cleveland and then Chicago takes care of business at home. Here's hoping Wrigley will still be in good shape after that all-night celebration is finished. Cubs in 5. |

I think long layoffs in the postseason are deff real. It's all timing in rhythm in baseball, or any sport really. A few days, maybe 3, is fine. After that I think you're pushing it with guys not getting game action.

I'm not worried about the layoff. It would be amazing if Schwarber comes in as DH. It's a great move. I'm clearly for the Cubs, but what a story book season man. Seriously. Cleveland vs Cubs. I hope when this ends, both teams meet at the mound and hug this out. This is special guys. Two fan bases who have no hope and here they are fighting eachother. This is so special. I'm besides myself.

Two moves to keep an eye on tomorrow: Schwarber for the Cubs, Salazar for Cleve.

The exact nature of Sianis' curse differs in various accounts of the incident. Some state that he declared that no World Series games would ever again be played at Wrigley Field, while others believe that his ban was on the Cubs appearing in the World Series, making no mention of a specific venue. Sianis’ family claims that he dispatched a telegram to team owner Philip K. Wrigley which read, “You are going to lose this World Series and you are never going to win another World Series again. You are never going to win a World Series again because you insulted my goat."

Weirdest part of the curse is people thinking eating goats or putting goat heads on statues somehow would break it.
If the curse is based on someone insulting a goat, killing goats seems really counter-productive. Maybe even added more time to it which is why Back to the Future II's prediction ended up being a big fat phony. |

For sure. Jays were a very streaky team and just started getting offense back on track versus Texas, had they not swept them and had less days off, the Cleveland series would have been much different.

After all this talk of layoffs especially in relation to hitting, would you add Kyle Schwarber to your WS roster?

That being said, you do lose a bullpen arm, but with the DH spot, another bat of the bench could prove more useful, especially when their starters are so good. |

Curious choices to not only go high risk high reward with Schwarber but to sacrifice defense and putting Coghlan in right.

Schwarber's six month recovery from a torn ACL is impressive, but John Cena would have been back in three.

Cubs getting caught looking over and over. Only 3rd inning and first time through the order though. |

Up to 45 pitches already. Only going 6 innings anyway with Miller and Allen waiting in the pen.
