One of two things.
Either A) leading to the debut of a new team for them to feud with (seemed to be the plan for a while, but they've clearly backed away from it.....they've been teasing it since June.) or B) The Usos wind up in the story and Breezango end up as their next challengers. But I think the New Day feud will carry on through Survivor Series which is still a ways away. Don't get me wrong, I love the segments and think they're hilarious. I'd much rather have this than not see them at all. But I don't get the impression that WWE actually have any real plans for them when it looked like they did when the segments first started. Case in point how many times have they teased the case being closed on a PPV only for it to continue with no resolution? They even seem to be poking fun at it themselves by saying "this would be a huge waste of time if it's The Ascension again" |

How can you possibly follow that match though? That has to be the blow off...

They'll probably have the contractual rematch on Smackdown and then I reckon they'll tease a break-up, even if they don't pull the trigger on it yet. |

Just finished the main, enjoyed the story it told but it felt like they took too long to hit each beat.
Samis facials are incredible though. I fucking love the way he looks like he can't believe what he just dead and looked at Shanes kids with that face. He's always been so good at that though. I loved just before the final Helluva Kick against Neville he just did that one look as he gets ready like he knows he's about to win the title, save his career and he's thinking about all the people that told him he couldn't do it. Weird how someone who spent most of his career in a mask picked up that aspect so quickly. |

And yes it is time for Breezango to get into a program. They're over. Usos are red hot too. New day can do whatever.

Breezango was the title program right before the New Day, right? Feels like Gable and Benjamin fail next.

Didn't like the idea of Chad Gable & Shelton Benjamin just being American Alpha Beta, but I actually liked them together. There's something about how...just two guys they are. I dunno, I find it charming. But I've always had a soft spot for Shelton Benjamin and Chad Gable is pretty great.

I think there's money in Gable as a singles dude, but I definitely don't hate this team at the moment.

I have been preaching it for months, and now I think much of TPDub is behind me on this:
Jinder Mahall needs to feud with the New Day. The logic is actually simple: Jinder always has his underlings helping him out. With the New Day, the odds are even. Fans will get into that. And you can stretch the program out until Wrestlemania. Jinder vs. Xavier for Survivor Series. Jinder vs. Kofi at Royal Rumble. Jinder finally dropping the belt to Big E at Wrestlemania. |

I'm fine with Jinder and his sour face feuding with The New Day. It should be with Heath Slater and Drew McIntyre at his side though.

One of the other ideas I had was, during the feud, Jinder fires the Singh brothers before his match with Kofi. So, the New Day lets Kofi go alone... only to get dismantled by Jinder's new charges... the Authors of Pain.

That would be alright. I'm fine with a Jinder/Rusev tag team too.

Yeah, but who really cares. I mean, Owens & Zayn, Ambrose & Rollins, Becky & Charlotte, Matt & Jeff, Shane & Vince, AJ & Shane -- it's like everybody in the WWE right now.

Nikki wished Brie had died in the womb and they made up off-air weeks later as if there wasn't any real significant heat between them at all. I don't think WWE just brushing off whatever may have happened between Jinder and Rusev would be a problem.

Oddly enough, I was actually uncomfortable watching all the baseball bat swings with the kendo sticks; and the fighting on top of the cell. I kept thinking someone was going to fall through the cage and/or trip over a beam and fall off. When Shane climbed up and fought with KO to get up, as well when they fought while climbing down I thought someone was going to slip and fall to the floor. Legit, felt uncomfortable.
On a match note, why does Shane constantly jump off the cage? He has never hit anyone while doing so othe than the big Show off the titan tron, so there is no drama to me in him jumping. It's just an ego spot. |

This is a thing that just dawned on me, and it pissed me off...
Kevin Owens couldn't beat Shane McMahon by himself. Let me type this out again... Kevin Owens, a guy who is presumably one of the top wrestlers in the world considering his position on the card and his size and all that, needed HELP to defeat Shane McMahon, a man who is in his late 40s and is NOT A FUCKING WRESTLER. And people wonder why the arenas are half empty. |

The problem isn't that he is a heel. The problem is that, if a non wrestler can theoretically almost beat him, then Joe Schmoe in the Fifth Row has a shot. So, why is Kevin Owens EVER in Title Contention?

And that's a fair point, as well. But Steen is in fact a guy who has gone over John Cena and held several singles titles. He's a guy who is in a wrestling ring on a regular basis. If anyone should be interfering on anyone's behalf, it should be someone trying to help out Shane. I didn't like the idea of Shane getting any serious offense on the Undertaker for the same reason. It makes everyone else he faces look bad, especially when they can actually throw something that pretends to resemble a decent punch, which Shane can't even be arsed to do.
Also, I didn't realize how poetic "Joe Schmoe in the 5th Row" was until you posted it after me, with or without the E. |

Gertner made the Tank Abbott comparison with Owens and it's a fair one. You can book him as a worthless, fat fuck and he will come off as one. You can book him as a guy who doesn't look the part but is actually tough as shit and he'll come off that way, too. It's all about the presentation.

I go back and forth on Owens. The dude is such a good promo. So fucking good. He's also really good in the ring. But he does look like a normal dude. Dale and I got into it about Owens looking "tough." I think he looks like a geek. Something about his face and the way he is built just looks like "fat guy" as opposed to a "big guy." Like, Samoa Joe has got that aura of being a bad dude about him. Owens just doesn't have that. I'm sorry, he just doesn't.
Maybe it's also because he presents himself as eloquent and witty on the mic? If Owens presented himself like a dumber dude, I honestly think it would help him. Sheamus is another dude who I just think talks too damn much, even if he's good at it. Some dudes should just say one or two things and maybe spit at the camera a bit. More problematic than Owens' weight, for me anyway, is his height. I can't remember who he was wrestling, but I saw him use a Stunner one week, and he had to jump to get it. It was kind of cute, honestly. I dunno, I just don't think the dude should be doing things that highlight how small he is. And that's a problem to an extent. The dude is really small. Like, allegedly he was pushing for the Undertaker match that they gave to Shane, but it's like -- dude, for Taker to sell for you... I dunno, is that too old-school? By the way, in kayfabe Shane is tough. Like, he's a wrestler. You can say he's not a wrestler, but to them he's a wrestler, and he's a bigger star than most of them. And doing the eye test, if you told me one was a wrestler and the other was the owner, and I knew nothing about WWE, I'd probably guess that Shane was the wrestler. The gear is...fuck, I've always got a problem with wrestlers wearing non-wrestling gear. It just makes me think they think they're too cool to do what they're actually doing. I think it comes off as really insecure. I hate the jorts with Cena, the jeans for Ambrose, the swat gear for Reigns now. Like there's a time and place to dress like a gimmick, but they seem to indicate way too much with it now. If Austin were coming up today, would they have made him wrestle in the jeans too? Just give wrestlers wrestling gear, lol. Buuuuut, Owens dressing the gimmick with the shirts and the shorts and stuff sort of suits him. Because he's so good as a personality he manages to breath himself into it a bit. I can kayfabe get why he brands himself "KO" and has the logo and stuff and the KO Mania shirts make total sense. But it's dangerously close to "fat kid doesn't want to take his shirt off at the pool," and they've really got to avoid that with him. He's presented about as well as a dude with that look and gimmick can be. And he's so fucking good at talking. In another era, he probably wouldn't have made it as a wrestler, but he'd be a fantastic manager. Can you imagine him as a spoiled little fat kid talking shit? Holy shit. But yeah, there are problems with Owens. Look, size and aura being the big ones, and there unfortunately ones you can't really change. I also don't think the dude is genuinely charismatic on that star level either. That's harder to gauge and stuff, but I think his Universal Title push would have gone better if he were. But he's always going to have some sort of value as a dude who can talk and as a solid hand because he seems to have incredible timing. I just don't get "main event bad-ass" from him. |

He's doesn't have huge star potential. He's not someone you revolve the company around. But again, he's good enough in the ring and on the mic AND he's got a unique enough look that he can be a huge asset. It's all in the presentation. If you book him like a big, sloppy, fatass loser, he will come off like that. If you book him like an ass-kicker who doesn't look the part, he will come off like that. They've just gotta pick one or the other and go all-out on it and never look back.
Maybe giving him a mouthpiece and not letting him work the mic as much like Noid said is key. It seems like a weird thing to do with a guy who is actually comfortable on the mic but maybe his style of promo is just not what you want when trying to present him the way he needs to be presented. |
