The one plot hole I can see is that, presumably, Cena just cost himself a title match.
But I guess you can explain that away with Cena not wanting to take away that opportunity from Nakamura who beat him fair and square. |

I can't stop laughing at how much I loved that.
The best thing WWE has done, excluding Fashion Files, all year. So fucking funny. |

Hopefully this means the WWE has seen how boring Corbin is.

If MITB is gonna still be a thing, they need to change it up now and then. Just having a heel waltz in for an easy title win got incredibly stale a few years ago.
This at least establishes MITB isn't a guarantee for success. It breathes new life into the gimmick. |

Did you forget that Cena also failed his cash-in? Think it was against Punk. I do remember him giving a week's advance warning, and they gave that as the main explanation for his loss. Big Show interfered and got him DQ'ed.

Within 2 days, WWE gave away a title change (Cruiser), a high profile match with clean ending (Bray vs Finn), and an official cash-in instead of waiting a few more days for SummerSlam.

Cena won by DQ and only failed by a technicality since he didn't get the belt. Before today, Sandow was the only one to actually fail by pin/submission.

The titles look like shit partially because of it. it's lazy and doesn't actually get guys over now. It's broken.

Personally I loved the ending. Didn't see it coming and it made me laugh.
On a character note it made sense. Corbin was so obsessed with costing Cena the match he forgot he could have just cashed in. He made his way back up to the ramp, looked backed and then it dawned on him. He saw Cena out of the corner of his eye as the title match began and his goal once again became Cena. That lust cost him an easy title victory and I am hoping Corbin goes banana all over Cena at SummerSlam. |

I hope Cena squashes Corbin and he starts jobbing to Mojo Rawley.

Me, if I NEEDED Corbin to win a belt, was do it at Summerslam.
Wait for Lesnar, Strowman, Reigns, and Joe to kill each other. Cash in on whoever wins, or more specifically, survives. After all, does it specifically say it HAD to be for the WWE World Title? |

Eh, I wouldn't include him. Sure he won the briefcase, but the only reason he actually failed to cash in was because Edge won it from him, otherwise he was supposedly going to attempt his cash-in @ WM XXIV, however, since he never attempted to cash-in, I don't think he belongs on the list. |

Too frequent. Gimmick is buried. Helps no one. Hasnt helped anyone since edge frankly.

... thus the asterisk.
Outside influences had him drop the briefcase in a non cash-in. That angle didn't play out to completion, even if we are all wrong and he was never supposed to win, dropping it to Edge was as much of a change of career trajectory as the "Mr McMahon's son" angle also being changed from him to Hornswoggle. |

Also, I still wish there was a different outcome in the Sandow/Rhodes feud, where Damien still had the briefcase, but Cody took the contract out... if both men attempted to "cash in" and had legitimate grounds to do so.
But I also still want to see some fuckery where someone cashes in "mid match" and brings his own ref, so that the champion is in two simultaneous bouts: against the #1 ontender and against the MitB holder. Even better if both guys pin a prone champ. Who won the belt?!?! |

My point still stands that ONLY Cena, Sandow and Corbin have ACTUALLY failed to cash-in. |

Didn't really help Edge that much the first time since he lost the belt like 2 weeks later.

Edge was still a Bonified main eventer thanks to the run that starred with that moment.
RVD was posed to solidified with the case but he jinxed that |

RVD's was a legit match though. It's the typical "cash in on the knocked out face for heel heat" thing that's dead. Edge was the first to do it and it worked for him because it was new. He basically made a gimmick out of it ("The Ultimate Opportunist"). Since then, it's just been driven into the ground and used as a lazy way to get heels over and it just... doesn't. And it makes the title seem even more meaningless at the same time.

Only real bright side to Corbin as holder was he didn't get to do the typical multiple failed attempts that also got driven down to the ground. Last edited by Emperor Smeat; 08-17-2017 at 11:47 PM. Reason: Messed up thining there was an ECW case at one point |

Yeah I don't think ECW had one, are you thinking of the Sabu/RVD Ladder match?

I think the ECW had a "working relationship" with Raw at the time so the RAW MITB match was for ECW, too. Don't know if they could challenge for either title or what. It was all a big, convoluted mess.

Seriously though, Cena definitely needs to beat Corbin. Save the "OMGWHATANUPSET" Cena losses for guys who actually have fucking star potential. Enough with giving everyone a win over Cena in hopes of magically getting them over in an instant.

Good think about nak is they pushed it as a dream match so while him winning clean was surprising it wasnt some fluke upset cuz of naks reputation at leadt kayfabe wise.
