As much as I never liked McMahon family to actually wrestle I admire Shane's willingness and ability to take bumps like that. Guy is dedicated.

What is this "teacup" thing Becky keeps doing?

It's kinda stupid and a bit annoying.

I think it is because Becky and Charlotte are best friends again now and to show that they have imaginary tea time together

According to the Observer, WWE's newest plan for keeping crowds to stay for 205 Live is for AJ Styles to wrestle as little as possible on Smackdown and instead be the focal point for the post-show stuff till 205 Live starts.

The man is definitely certifiable...he's jumped off the top of the titantron twice at PPVs, once vs. Big Show, once against Kane, both Last Man Standing matches, IIRC. Also, I believe @ KotR 2001, Kurt had to do the spot through the glass to him not once but twice because it didn't break the first time.

That's just listing a few. I seriously wonder at times how he hasn't been dead for like a decade due to all the insane shit he's done.

Has there ever been an explanation on why they don't just do 205 Live first, and THEN Smackdown?

I've always wondered that myself. It's like if they filmed Velocity AFTER Smackdown back in the day. Seriously, it's pretty much the same thing.

In fact, why isn't 205 Live filmed before RAW?

Currently, they do a Raw B-Show, then Raw.

Then the next night, they do Smackdown then another Raw B-Show

Wouldn't it make more sense for 205 Live to take place before Raw so that the 205 Live crew can stick with the actual brand they're on and then Smackdown can have a B-show instead of giving 2 B-shows to the 3 hour show and none to the 2 hour show? lol

Not that I know of although I'd assume its probably related to them not wanting to start an hour or so earlier to set up the stage and prep work. Would be even earlier whenever they are on the West Coast.

Very likely they'd still be dealing with crowd issues except more in a PPV pre-show type of way.

Main Event is taped before RAW although before Superstars got canned it was taped before Smackdown while Superstars was taped before RAW.

Also because WWE wanted the show to be live for its namesake, 205 Live had to be done after Smackdown.

It airs on their own network though. They can air it live at any time they want. Why does it need to be after Smackdown?

Still angers me that Raw gets Main Event AND 205 Live tbh. SmackDown is the one that needs the B-show.

Order and logic ARE considered ridiculous in WWE world now that you mention it.

Having a brand with a 2 hour A-show and no B-show and another brand with a 3 hour A-show show and 2 B-shows, one of which airs live AFTER the brand that it's not actually part of is such a WWE-esque clusterfuck.

The cruiserweight division going to SmackDown gives you a chance to integrate the cruiserweight into SmackDown storylines when needed (Neville vs. Styles please) and might give people more incentive to stick around to watch the show since the cruisers are a part of the show you're paying to see.

Having a Raw B-show taped after SmackDown makes little to no sense.

Also cuts down on a travel day for the cruisers, which is cool because right now they're the only ones on the main roster getting fucked out of a day off.

How has Shinsuke Nakamura been doing? I was just thinking that since this Jinder Mahal title reign is dying a death, they should probably switch the title at Hell in a Cell. But it just doesn't feel "big enough." Maybe have Mahal vs. Nakamura close out the show with the big feel intros, and then have the match thrown out when The Singh Brothers attack Nakamura. Randy Orton makes the save for Nakamura, but then Daniel Bryan announces that they are going to lower the cell and they are going to have a Triple Threat for the WWE Title.

Nakamura can win it in a cage with some star power there. If you have AJ Styles lose the US Title to Corbin, then you can free him up to potentially challenge Nakamura. Do a Zayn vs. Nakamura title match on SDL one week and have a MOTY candidate on television and get the reign off to a strong start.

If you want Mahal to be the WWE Champion for the Indian tour, which I think is dumb, but whatever, you can always move the belt back to Mahal for that and have Nakamura win it back when they're in the US. Or move onto whatever is next. Fairly certain they will be doing Nakamura vs. Styles at WrestleMania. Why not have it be for the WWE Title and have one of them win the Royal Rumble and challenge the other? Reigns vs. Brock can be set up other ways and is probably going to headline anyway.

From what I was seeing, it seemed like Nakamura was actually being handled relatively well for a month or two. Then they had him cut the generic face promo and jobbed him to Mahal via the paint-by-numbers distraction finish and now he's just another guy. Could care less if he wins the title now.

It's a shame. SmackDown could be so good so fast with just a few tweaks.

I was thinking "What are the odds Khali comes in the rips to door off the cell to help Jinder retain?" And then I realized that match isn't in the cell.

Kayfabe-wise, if I were Nakamura I'd be pissed. You lose your title match via outside interference by these two guys who are always helping Mahal retain and the next PPV is fucking Hell in a Cell. You're clearly gonna get your one-on-one fair shake at the title now. Then Daniel Bryan's like "Nah. We're gonna put this other match that doesn't really have a logical reason to be inside the cell in it instead and just leave you to fend for yourself again. Also, we're gonna make that other Hell in a Cell match 'falls count anywhere' just to make the fact that it gets the cell gimmick more puzzling.

I agree, and I do think that the WWE doesn't put a kayfabe hat on enough. Why is Randy Orton just cool with The Singhs always costing him matches and shit? Shouldn't he have received some sort of cage match stipulation?

Given that they're not above whoring out their own concepts, it would not surprise me if the cell is lowered at some point during the match as a "bonus." I mean, it also wouldn't surprise me if Mahal just beats Nakamura the same way and it's just the #2 match on the card.

I just read that Nakamura apparently has the best win-loss percentage in WWE history. Promote that fact. Do hype videos showing all the great superstars of the past, and how Nakamura is still a cut above them. You don't need to clarify "this only counts Nakamura's main roster run." You don't need to qualify that this only applies to the WWE. Just point out that he's a cut above the rest. Have him win the WWE Title and then protect him. No losses in tag matches, no silly non-title bouts -- he's the champion and he's the most winningest guy they've ever had. Star. Try it. Hollywood is not going to steal Nakamura.

When The Rock comes to endorse Paige, have him interact with Nakamura at some point and have The Rock "feel the electricity." Tease Nakamura vs. Rock as a dream match and have them fight off some heels together. Fucking try something to make this guy a star. Why did you spend money on him just to get "Good Funaki?" Fuck.

Him having the best win-loss means jack poop because his career is what..... a couple months old to the majority of viewers? Even if they promote his NXT stuff more, it still isn't that long.

You sell it. Play to your strengths. Of course Nakamura has only been on the main roster for a few months. But you don't need to point that out. Why would you? Just point out that the dude has the best win-loss percentage in WWE history, is a 15-year veteran and is a record setting and undefeated Intercontinental Champion. All those things are simultaneously true statements. Tell a story where you can. Because viewers that are still watching are not going to be chased away by this, but it might help build his cache with newer viewers.

For example, when JR used to tell me that Billy Gunn was pound-for-pound the toughest man in the WWF, it had an effect on me. It earmarked the guy for emotional investment. Now imagine doing that with someone good.

And put Christian on commentary too.

WWE have a huge opportunity here. Time to ship out Mahal. Drew McIntyre is going to need back-up with Adam Cole in NXT, eventually. 3MB reunion down there; but a more serious babyface run for them. Heath Slater and Adam Cole can have a bay-bay off.

I know the fans are dumb, but even they are bound to remember that he hasn't been around that long.

By all means play up his career in Japan, though.

Just don't pretend that his WWE win percentage means anything. Certainly present him as dominant, but no need to mention the percentage.

Yeah, I think the best they could do is play up the fact that he was something special elsewhere. WWE fans have basically known him as the guy who got hyped up and got the "he beat Cena" rub (that everyone and their grandma has gotten over recent years) just to build to him losing in 10 minutes to Jinder Mahal via distraction. He's nothing special in their eyes. Tons of guys have done what he's done early in their career only to end up as midcard fodder. Hyping him as something special based on his WWE merits just insults people's intelligence.

Yes. If there wasn't a minimum match attempts, there would be a lot of people who are undefeated and technically have the best winning percentage in WWE history. Including Lawrence Taylor and Jimmy Kimmel's cousin Sal.

And obviously when someone mentions "WWE history" they tend not to mean only since the name was changed to "WWE". So Josh Matthews is not 2-0.

Eh, disagree. You mention whatever you can to get things over. No one who minds having their intelligence insulted still watches the show. They have told you time and time again nothing matters. You essentially have to start from scratch if you are going to make things matter there.
