Universe if probably the mode that needs most attention, it does nothing to keep me hooked and I get bored of it after a couple of months.

I went to great lengths to set up my Universe the way I wanted and then still got bored after a week's worth of shows. The mode sucks.

If the storylines progressed naturally, that would be one thing. But from my time playing through them it just seems wonky. The angles never seem to really amount to anything. And most of them are just the same two guys fighting each other week in, week out.

I only do Universe to get a CAW to win MITB for the achievment. Its time for the mode to be taken out. GM mode doesnt make sense anymore either. Id like them to go back to doing a Year In Review story mode. Try to make what happens on TV and PPV epic. The Punk/Cena mode was awesome. It was a like a year in review for a top time in WWE. They should do that and maybe have a redo of The Nexus. Showcase shouldn't br the main story mode though.

Universe mode is just so frustrating because the potential is there for something amazing, not a fan of the Showcase stuff overall though because it is so limiting, if the could open up my career mode like universe but actually have stuff happen every week not send me for tune up matches when I'm holding 2 titles it'd be a huge step in the right direction.

If two people are in a feud in universe, there's should be cut scenes that show interviews, backstage attacks, and run ins during matches that actually coincide with the feud.
I wouldn't mind playing a 12 weeks feud for example of there were twists, turns, allegiances made and things happened to tell a story. As it is, either there is a brief prematch attack or you literally have matches together for weeks before a PPV. How can I build The Rock and Lensar fighting at Mania if their feud consists of them having a one on one match every week before it? |

We're 12-13 years removed from Shut Your Mouth and Here Comes the Pain, and they haven't even come close to having a season mode as good as those games.
Unlike SD2, which was pretty much Universe mode 10 years before they actually put it in the game (endless matches with very little consequence) - SYM and HCTP had finite end times. SYM went 2 years, HCTP went for 1. Both borrowed some storylines from real life while infusing some original stories in there as well. You'd bounce from 1 storyline to the next, never going a long time without anything important happening to your character. And there was an actual end game, because the mode had an actual conclusion rather than just dragging on for ages. Even though you went through many of the same "major" stories every time you played...you could still shift around the people involved. You could alter the Raw and SmackDown rosters before you started your game, so you were feuding/aligning with different characters throughout. Also you could play the matches you weren't involved in if you wanted to give certain guys a "push" to give them a better chance at popping up when you got to different storylines. Oh and no voiceover too, which meant that you could play as anybody on the roster rather than a set number of 10-15 guys that the developers assumed were the only ones anybody wanted to use. I'd kill for a mode like that again. |

Even No Mercy's story mode was better than what we've been getting. It repeated real life events but allowed you to spin off into alternative tangents based on wins/losses. At least that felt less "on the rails".

The universe should have more freedom. Not GTA freedom, but pretty darn close.

It'll be Brock and/or Roman on the cover probably.
I guess you can never totally rule out Cena but I think they've been trying to not use the same wrestler on the cover in back to back years at this point. |

As noted earlier, WWE 2K16 will feature 120 unique characters, which will be WWE's largest roster in the history of any video game. The roster will be made of main WWE roster, NXT, WWE legends and possibly even some ECW originals.
PWInsider reports that 2K is working very hard to insure that they can include the most up to date WWE roster possible. They have already started working on recent signings like Samoa Joe. The plan is to give WWE fans the greatest potential gaming roster ever. |

Given how much they had to cut to make 2k15, they aren't going to match 2k14 in content let alone exceed it. They aren't going to be able to unlock that much of the console's potential in an annual development cycle. Will be at least til 2k17 before we see it. |

Well it's not their fault that WWE wants an annual game. I'll wait to see just exactly how much that was taken out is returned before I pass judgement.

I mean, this is discussing a game that in the last edition, they purposefully made modes unselectable, despite them actually being in the game. I'm sure they'll be back and will hype it up.

We're not talking about THQ handling any aspects of the game anymore. Sure, 2K gutted the shit out of 2K15, but they told fans they were doing so in order to work on those modes and tweak and fine tune them, maybe even revamp some completely. The series is on it's last gasps of O2, and could use a huge new "tank" of fresh air.

Well that's what they are trying to do by making the models look like actual current gen models, and not slightly-better-than PS2 models that we were getting, and revamping the gameplay.
Problem is, like I said, on a one year cycle it's tough to do that. On a brand new console that no one has really explored the depths of, nearly impossible. 2k15 was a no-win situation. This is the game where, depending on how much progress is made, we see whether 2k actually cares (as much as a company like 2k can care) about putting out a good product, or if they're just planning the same old shit every year with a few new features. |

If they are as attentive to what fans say as they are with their mobile card battle app WWE SuperCard, there would be little to worry about. Of course 2K don't work with CatDaddy Games either, and I'm not sure, but I think 2K gets most of the final say in what goes into the major updates of SuperCard,
Ugh, new "Ring Domination" sucks so hard. It's basically their new and biggest "give us your money if you want more nice things in future big updates" mode. But enough about that. I'll discuss it with anyone who cares in its thread. |

Hopefully I'm wrong, but with how shit 2k has been this generation so far with NBA and Evolve trying to gouge every last penny, I'm thinking it's going to be worse than THQ ever were. Hell, they already sowed the seeds with a season pass that didn't include all the content from the season and still locking an exclusive character to it. |

Austin being on the cover just kinda highlights how little star power there actually is on the current roster.

So rather than using existing, new, up and coming talent they use a guy who hardly has anything to do with the product, from a time that people need to let go.

For all the talk of the roster being overhyped...I won't lie, it's still important to me. Obviously it's nowhere near as important as features, gameplay, etc. but I've always needed a large roster to even keep me remotely interested in these games.
I think a lot of us have been in agreement in the past that some of the people left out of the game is total bullshit especially given the amount of unused space in the game. It always seemed to me that they should be able to get nearly the entire roster at cutoff into the game. And now assuming they aren't blatantly lying about having over 120 unique wrestlers in the game, they've given themselves no excuse to not get everybody in. If you figure the cutoff was around WM as it normally was, if you factor in the active roster at the time, NXT, some of the obvious legends, etc. you'd have something like this:
Left off a few really low card NXT people that I could see not making it, and maybe people nobody really gives a fuck about like Bull Dempsey are kept out. But by and large nearly all of those people should be in. Especially with the main roster. There hasn't even been a spring cleaning this year. It's been pretty much the same roster intact for over a year now. Samoa Joe probably will be DLC as rumored, but you can at least sell me on him as someone the casual fan would like as a bonus character. 19 divas is a fuckload and I never play as them, but I could see them trying to cram as many in as possible since the tards on IGN constantly complain about there not being enough. Also Rosa Mendes has said she's in the game, and if she of all people made it in...everybody else probably should be. But yeah, all of those and you still have at least 30 spots for other legends, random characters, or whoever the fuck else they're gonna include in the Austin showcase. |
