E-Wrestling as a kid

Did you or didn't you?

What was the name of your character? How were matches decided?

Interesting for me, and maybe only me is how nearly 19 years ago my nearly undefeated character Bobby Brawler lost a PPV main event to HBK clone Tommy Styles.

I brought him back as masked wrestler "Broken". Very different from Matt Hardy except in premise.

Had him kidnap a rival's girlfriend and gave her an abortion after brainwashing her. WTF?

It's time to make TPWW MEAT again!

Quote:
Unlike traditional grills which cook food from a single, direct heat source, the Pit Barrel® Cooker’s cylindrical shape and “Hook-and-Hang” method places the food in the center of the action, heating the meat from all sides at once, producing consistently great-tasting, perfectly cooked meat every time.

Also have some popcorn.

I did a bit of strat feds, email feds, and board feds over the year's I did it.

And there were various charcters. From Extreme Machine to two of his students: Runoff and R.W. and at the end I even had an R.W. student: Roshan Nocturne.

And they all had very different gimmicks: EM was a Taz/luchador gimmick. Very early, he was concept of late '90s cool. I would later joke that he inspired every indy mark of today.

Runoff was the biggest character, an MMA striker. He was based on Tajiri, but he is most easily described as Shibata before I knew who Shibata was (and since it was early 2000s, before Shibata really started wrestling.) Much of his gimmick involved him not speaking or saying very little in a trash talk heavy fed. Most of his insults were written on notebooks or chalkboards. And he was surprisingly successful.

R.W. had a nickname of "Hardcore Hick" and was a violent redneck who used shovels, but was well versed in traditional wrestling. The guy said Vato like Hogan said Brother. And he was Jake-like calm, and hid his accent for the most part with how he talked. When he was angry, he sounded like he was from Georga. He was by far my best character.

Roshan was a striker/aerialist that learned submission wrestling from R.W. She had a bit of a habit of letting her mouth get her in trouble, and was very judgmental. Her specialty was a thing invented by a friend of mine lampooning Deathmatch wrestlers called the Slopmatch.

Did the E-fed thing with WEW for a few years, the writing came quite easily to me in my teens but looking back I really dont know where the ideas came from.

Funnily enough I was looking back at the old boards the other night.

Yup, had a very pleasant efed experience with DVS back in the day (RIP PepsiMan)

Match outcomes were determined on strength of the RP, then simulated by the owners using RAW 2 on the original Xbox. They then uploaded the shows for us to watch. It was an awesome set up, until the inevitable passing of the site owner. After that, the site closed.

Played e-feds for many many years.....

Over the years, my main character was "Hardcore K"......

Started off at "Cyberslam" as "Kidman", but then I found out you didn't need to use an existing wrestler, so I had my guy "go crazy", change his name to "Hardcore K" and start talking to a chair and be all about "hardcore wrestling" since I thought Hardcore Holly/Al Snow hardcore feud was cool.

Eventually dropped the talking to a chair bit, and slowly started dropping being "hardcore".....

"Cyberslam" closed and I moved the character to "Wrassle.net".....

There my character would evolve into an egotistical heel, but like delusionally egotistical in that he legit thought everyone loved him and he was better than everyone else (they didn't and he wasn't). Pretty much had nothing to do with the name, and kind of just went by "HcK" mostly.....

Over the years became "less interested" in roleplaying "wrestling" and my storylines became increasingly about my character getting embroiled in various complicated plots/conspiracies where, despite still being a heel, he would end up saving the world from various villains.

Eventually killed him off in a huge angle that involved pretty much every member of his rogues gallery/supporting cast. Also time travel and a mutated duck clone army. Died sacrificing himself to save the world......

"Wrassle.net" shut down as well a year or two later...... Eventually I would "resurrect" my character at "Federation X"..... He thought heaven was total bushwa because everyone was "equal" and no one treated him like he was better than everyone...... so Nikola Tesla helped him bust out of heaven....... But then Nikola Tesla also had nefarious plot to steal cosmic powers to reshape reality...... but my character stopped him and saved all of reality, and was rewarded with being allowed to stay alive and not have to go back to heaven........

Nope didn't do that as a kid. I mean come on, the first two letters spell "EW".

But seriously, I don't recall being very much if at all into the WWF/wrestling in general in the '80s or growing up until my friend helped get me unto it by habitually watching RAW when I'd be visiting him because Mondays were his nights off and that was his way of relaxing. This was c. late 2001-early 2002ish, so I would've been in my early 20s by that point.

Oh fuck yeah I did e-feds. Loved it.

I was never really in the CAW feds or anything just because I'm not that clever and couldn't create my own. But WWF/WWE based ones I was all over them.

Didn't do the match-writing roleplaying, always did the promo-based ones. I had a riot doing them. They were so much fun to me. There was always goofs in those chat boxes but other than that I will always have great memories of my e-fedding days.

The very first time I saw an e-fed, it was just pick a wrestler and you got the Kenny's Krib South Park image as your guy and it was just random whoever wins. I was probably 12 years old. So thats almost 20 years ago. And then I probably was on and off for ten years after that.

5 years ago or so I tried it again, but the e-feds have kind of died out. At least the WWE style ones have.

Super fun times, super fun memories. Nerd alert.

I used to run mentioned e-fed.

I really enjoyed doing it, and the whole character development, but running one was just so much work for so little reward. Didn't help that the person who was meant to be helping me was incredibly unreliable.

However I was still the TPWWE Internet Champion for nine months, and no-one can take that off me dammit.

Never liked those ones where the people running it would write all the matches....

The ones I played you wrote your own matches during "card days". There was a "sim" aspect to the game, and sometimes your writing would get you points as well (and sometimes there would be no sim at all and it would be all judged on writing). Then when the winner was decided, that person got to post the end of the match.....

I also hated e-feds where it was "forbidden" to use other people's characters in your posts...... that was like half the fun.... interacting with other people and building off each other's posts.......

It was really collaborative, honestly. They'd give us their move sets, spot ideas, and I'd incorporate them into each match.

I always wrote them to look good, unless they "no showed". AOL efeds were pretty fun.

Brawler's finishing moves were a double arm impaler DDT called "Fatality" and a Burning Hammer onto a steel chair called the "Tour de Force".

He used to do a spot where he'd bring a hacksaw into the ring to open up a guy's forehead. I remember way too much about his move set to this day.

I don't remember the circumstances that lead to this, but I remember there was one angle where for whatever reason a bunch of the rasslers were on some island doing something.....

And one rassler dug a hole to set a trap for another rassler....... but then a whole bunch of rasslers, including myself, ended up falling into the hole and a whole bunch of us just spent like a week roleplaying as being stuck in a hole.

I remember the TPWW E-Fed in 2001 and 2002. I absolutely loved the wackiness of it at first. And we had such a large enough roster that once WWE did the brand split in real life, we followed suit by having a draft separating the fed into TPWW and Kapoutland brands which each had their own unique rosters, shows, etc. So the fed existed on both boards while still being a part of the same "universe".

As I recall though people started losing interest/quitting once it became obvious that role play quality didn't really mean anything in terms of who would actually be booked to win and stuff.

Think in 2001 I tried to set up my own e-fed but it was too much work, so I joined another one.

They had the whole WWF vs. WCW angle going on, since that's what was hot at the time. I ended up joining as Jerry Lynn for some reason and bringing an ECW faction into the mix despite Lynn being a total non-factor in the invasion angle IRL.

Think I won the European Title or something.

This one time I had an absolute blood feud with a guy over $11 (with some other people eventually getting involved, each trying to lay claim to the $11), and it was one of the best feuds I ever had.......

I should also mention that my character was also "wealthy" by that time......

Reputation was definitely part of it. We had a lot of "big names" from the boards participating so they'd usually be booked near the top of the card on the strength of their regular posting even if their actual participation in the E-Fed was limited.

I remember the champion retaining a few PPVs doing bare bones, 2 paragraph role plays while his opponents would write practically a whole story.

Why as a kid? Ive done e-wrestling up to adulthood. Never was interested in roleplaying as a real wrestler, only original wrestler roleplaying feds. I started in Cyberslam which I think was one of the first big efedding sites that focused on original characters, then I had a stint in Wrassle.net but moved on to Ring-Wars.com which was more similar to Cyberslam. Unfortunately that site closed a couple years back and I haven't quite found anything compatible where you actually 1) WRESTLE and 2) Use original characters. Too many feds are either 100% no contact, or 100% off topic, or don't really let u use other people's characters which is the whole point of e-wrestling imo.

I never reached any fame in my 14 or so year career in e-fedding because I never had the time to really roleplay that much because I was always busy with school/college and by the time I became an "adult" with "no life", all the efeds pretty much went extinct.

Its a real shame, I miss the entire experience. Nothing quite like it.

I still have a number of friends I made during my roleplaying career that went beyond just the game we played. Not in real life, but regardless, its definitely been an important part of my life. To some people it was "hanging out after school" to me it was "writing matches and storylines after school".

Too bad people these days have no interest in actual roleplaying it seems.

Next topic on hand : "Where have all the good MUDs gone?"
Now feel like going on a whole tirade at how much worse the internet is these days then back in late 90's, early 00's.

I was involved in some magazine-based e-fed where you had to send in money to get booked and stuff. Think I did it like one or two months and then realized it was dumb.

wait, no. there were a lot of south park wrestling leagues where you would write promos for your characters and whose promo was better would go on to win the match.

Trying to manage what essentially was two feds was a fucking nightmare.

The stuff about roleplays was true in the beginning when it was being run by Mr Marcus but I tried to move it away from that. The problem was, which was the same in every e-fed I've seen, that you'd make someone champion and then they'd lose interest and you're left having to book someone who isn't bleeding playing any more.

I like to think I did a pretty good job for a few months though!

So, I don't delete e-mails, so I just had a look to see if I could find any old stuff. I found a couple of matches, not sure who wrote them as they were emailed to me rather than mine.

I believe this was from Summerspam 2002, which can be watched on the TPWWE Network for only $9.99.

Beauser vs. Big Vito 22
The two men attempt to lock up but both trip simultaneously and bang their heads. They both slowly stagger up and do a staredown to almost 0 crowd reaction. Beauser attempts a dropkick but lands on his back for Big Vito to drop a elbow into the midsection. Beauser stays on the ground holding his stomach as the crowd groans.

CoE: This is horrible!

JeRz: You can say that again.

CoE: This is horrible!

JeRz I didnt mean it figuratively you dolt!

CoE:Excuse me for losing my sense of what words mean in a freak washing machine accident!

JeRz Not much is happening in this contest..

Beauser continues to sell the elbow until he finally reaches his feet. Vito hits a punch to the shoulder in which Beauser doesnt sell and returns with a dropkick to the groin. Vito drops to the mat as Beauser mounts the ropes. He attempts for a frog splash but slips on the ropes and falls to the outside through the announce table!

CoE That clumsy moron just flew through our announce table!

JeRz OH MY GAWD! I SWEAR TO GOD HE IS BROKEN IN HALF! I SWEAR ON MY BBQ SAUCE THAT HE IS IN HORRIBLE HORRIBLE PAIN RIGHT NOW! HIS BACK MUST BE BROKEN IN 800 DIFFERENT PLACES! OH MY GAWD!! OH MY GAWDD!!

CoE:Actually dude, he no sold it and he is back in the ring now.

JeRz: Okie.

Beauser nails a big boot, but the force of Vito coming towards him causes Beauser to fall backwards rather than the intended Vito.

CoE: This is it!

CoE seems fed up with this horrid match up and slides into the ring, dropping both Beauser and Vito with a Europacution. CoE grabs the ref by the hair and demands he counts! Its over! CoE wins a match he wasnt even a part of! He climbs out from the ring and gets back into his announce position.

CoE: I had to do something..It was scaring the children..

Winner: Champion of Europa

Y2Crippler vs. ct2k

Both men lock up. Y2Crippler locks ct2k into a side headlock and floats it into a bulldog. Y2Crippler bounces off the rops and nails his version of the "Rolling Thunder" which he calls "Balls of Fire". As Y2Crippler arrives to his feet he singals that he is going for his finisher but he is cut off with a desperation clothesline.

JeRz: That could've beheaded Crippler!

Ct2k arrives to his feet to drop repeated stomps into the chest of Y2Crippler. He grabs Crippler by the hair and spits in his face. This angers Crippler and causes ct2k to get dropped by a fantastic spinebuster.

JeRz: SPINE ON THE PINE!

CoE: Right-eo..

Crippler mounts himself ontop of ct2k and delivers 10 closed fist punches to the face. He slides off and plays to the crowd to a roaring amount of applause. Ct2k comes to, and when Crippler turns around he is dropped with a quick DDT. Ct2k goes for the pin, 1-2- kickout! Ct2k seems amazed that he kicked out of that! He tries again and gets the count of two once again. Ct2k stands up and starts choking out Crippler with his foot, before quickly mounting the ropes and getting airbourne for a elbow drop which Crippler moved out of the way for! Ct2k nurses his wounds as Crippler makes his way to his feet. Tapping his boot as the crowd cheers wildly! Ct2k pulls himself up suddenly and kicks Crippler in the balls! Crippler holds his package in agony as Ct2k plays to the crowd. Suddenly Crippler pulls a cup out of his tights and quickly delivers a kick to the balls on Ct2k!

JeRz:OH MY GAWD! Y2CRIPPLER, Y2CRIPPLER!!

CoE: Bischoff wouldnt have marked out for that..

Y2Crippler makes the pinfall and scores the 1-2-3 for the victory.

Hardcore Title: Dowunder vs. Hero

Downunder offers to shake Hero's hand. Hero extends his hand only to get clocked with a trash can lid! Hero falls forward which allows Downunder to drop a elbow onto the back of Hero's head with the trash can lid. Downunder spits on Hero in disgust for his lack of fight. Hero slowly begins to arise and Downunder tries to give him a punch, but it seemingly doesnt affect him. Hero starts shaking and banging his head. Downunder tries again and once again Hero is unaffected. Hero points to Downunder as the crowd exclaims, "YOU!" Hero rips off his shirt revealing massive man breasts, the crowd cowers in fear as the mothers cover up the eyes of their now mentally scarred children.

JeRz: OH MY GAWD! HE'S HEROING UP!!

CoE: God JeRz, you make it sound like he's shooting Heroin.. Actually, with the way he acts when he Heroes up, that assumption doesnt seem too far off..

Hero gives Downunder some incredibly weak punches and then irish whips him. Dropping him with a big boot before bouncing off the ropes and dropping a big leg! Hero attempts the pinfall but suddenly snaps and goes deaf, pointing to his ears repeatedly. The crowd cheers loudly thinking he is just playing to the crowd. In the confusion Downunder retrieves an Aussie Pie and drills Hero with it. Hero becomes blinded by the hot filling as Nunder grabs a dingo and knocks him upside the head with it, scoring the pinfall and the Hardcore Title.

JeRz: OH MY GAWD! HE USED AUSSIE WILDLIFE TO WIN THE MATCH! THE CHEATING BASTARD! ONCE THE IMMORTAL HERO GETS A HOLD OF HIM AGAIN THERE WILL BE HELL TO PAY! BBQ SAUCE!

CoE: Right-eo..Next match..

Winner: YOUR Hero

Lightheavyweight Title: The Miz vs. Yashmanga

The Miz starts off the match with a jumping clothesline from halfway across the ring. They both recover quickly enough to stare down each other before Yashmanga drops the Miz with a calf kick. Yashmanga delivers quick punches to the chest of Miz before connecting with an elbow to the sternum. Yashmanga rips off his TPWW shirt to reveal a Masturbating Bear shirt, much to the groaning of the crowd.

CoE:Its not like we havent seen this before..I thought I saw the popcorn guy duck when Yashmanga went for his shirt..We had enough problems with Hero..

JeRz: You speak the truth..

Yashmanga dances around, fondling a sock from his crotch while the crowd screams as their eyes burn. The Miz can no longer take it and spears him off his feet. Then promptly throwing Yash over the top rope, Yash's back bouncing off the sharp corner of the baracade. The Miz hurls himself over the top rope and onto Yash below. Both men appear very injured. We see a tall figure walk to the wring, its THE MASTURBATING BEAR! He puts both of the competitors into the ring and locks Yashmanga in the Masturbating Bear Hug! Yashmanga begins to bleed from the mouth. The bear drops Yash as Miz picks up the win!

Winner and LHW Champion: The Miz

Canadian International Qualifier: So Twistid vs. Kapoutman vs. da king vs. Hurricane

All of the competitors quickly run at each other causing a train wreck in the center of the ring. Da King gores through Hurricane and Kapoutman levels Twistid with a boot. Da King catches Kapoutman's eye and they both go to the turnbuckle hitting that crappy move from Ready to Rumble. Once both men arise Da King drills Kapoutman with "The Crowning" and pins him for an elmination!

JeRz: Kapoutman is elminated!

CoE: Looks like I lose the office pool, I had you to scream "BY GAWD!" 40 times..

JeRz: BY GAWD x 40!

CoE:

We join the action in the ring with Twistid and King brawling and while Hurricane scouts the action. Twistid has King on the ground. He bounces off the ropes into a clothesline from the awaiting Hurricane! Hurricane climbs the ropes and nails the Outkaster and pins Twistid! Its down now to The Hurricane and Da King. Hurricane tries to light up in mid match but Da King wont have it! He takes the joint and shoves it into Hurricane's eye! Da King quickly drops Hurricane with "The Crowning" to win the Qualifier!!

JeRz BY GAWD, WHAT A SLOBBERKNOCKER!

CoE: Wooo! Look's like I just won the pool!

My first character in Cyberslam was "Anaconda", a generic hoss. I think I held one of the titles in the "CBF" federation and in iHEL indy. Not sure what name I used on Wrassle, might've been the same. Then I had multiple characters on Ring Wars.
