Just a question for the guys that have played through...
I am on 7 hearts and the obvious shrines around the first two/three villages are all gone. I have picked up 2 of the memories, but am a bit lost now. Not really prepared to go into some areas with those floating enemies and the like, but apart from capturing these memories, what is the main story i should be following? I know there is no fixed rule, but i have been just exploring, practising my guardian killing and looking around "safer" areas for a while now, but will never get all these memories just doing that. What "quest" should i be following to push the game on and find more shrines and gradually build myself up? |

Cant get that second update to download on my wii u for some reason. the one thats like 150mb.
Also the frame rate on Wii U seems awful. Maybe because Im trying to d/l that patch in the background. Dunno. But it's really distracting running around just the beginning field area so I;m kinda scared. |

Up to 8 stars and a bit of stamina. Took the long trek across to the other tech lab to try for better gear....Only to see that you needed 9 cores for the whole set.
Any tips on how to move things forward? Seems to be going very slowly with no real solid progress What story should i be following? |

Really glad that I don't care about framerate issues at all, seems annoying to care about framerates
Did the desert labyrinth thing, found the end with only two pieces of quipment so I gotta go back thru it I guess cos there prolly are more... "meh" at desert |

Normally I don't but it was distracting and constant. Turns out it was indeed due to background d/ls running. When they finished and I rebooted it was much much better and I'm enjoying the hell out of it now.

I don't think there's anywhere you "need" to go, the main quest has a bunch of different storylines and you can do them all whenever, nothing in the game is really "off limits," you'll just have to make potions and stuff to get through some of it

An Easter egg was recently discovered in regards to the trial shrines and it involves the triforce being a hidden image from the monks hand signs when put together.

Discovered Eventide Island last night... that was fun. I pushed a boulder off the high cliff area onto the Hinox and when seeing how little damage it actually did to him (while waking his ass up) I started freaking out... super hectic fight. Ended up doing most of the damage using Magnesis with the metal crates around. Feels kinda cheesy, the blocks do so much damage even when they're moving kinda slowly but hey I'll take it

I just shot his necklace with an arrow to make it fall off so I could just pick up the orb and run away without bothering with him.

Just beat the Stalinox in Hyrule Castle Lockup. Was kind of a let down battle. With a few bomb arrows and stasis he never got a chance to even attack me.

Also the best recipe is just 1 durian, or 1 radish, or 1 "hearty truffle" they all give you full health plus extra hearts dunno |

only recipes I really use are:
5x Mighty Banana - 3x attack 5x Ironshroom - 3x defence 1x Hearty 'anything' - full heal + a yellow heart (when you have 25+ red hearts, going for 10 or 20 yellow hearts is wasted) 1x Staminoka Bass - refill stamina (I forget specifically how much) 5x Gourmet Meat - sell for $$$ 5x Prime Meat - sell for $$$ everything else is kinda meh |

1x Endura Carrott is a full stamina refill plus extra I think, and prolly easier to find than staminoka bass

Hmmm yeah that's a good one too. I put all my orb upgrades to stamina so I haven't used a ton of stamina food tbh so I haven't put much thought into it. I usually try and keep a couple things cooked on-hand just to be safe

Hard mode isn't just a stat boost. It also has enemies regen health and there's some high up tree forts with the chests and enemies up there.

Disclaimer: love the game
Knowing there arent items to found is such a massive negative. Knowing that any area i enter can be solved from the onset save for story development is disappointing. There's this brilliant map marker system that is basically useless because you can do everything the first time you get there. what is basically the cornerstone of the franchises gameplay for literally 30 years suddenly absent. What makes a zelda game? Having link in it or is it the dungeon field dungeon paradigm? I recal when this entered development they mentioned wanting to diverge from the zelda formula...and the game works so i cant hate...but damn...batman arkham asylum is more of a zelda game than breath of the wild... Zelda:Breath of the Wild is a great open world sandbox game...but i hope the next installment returns some of the staples of the franchise. |

Video game fans are impossible to please. People complained after Twilight Princess and Skyward Sword that Zelda games were just "more of the same," so what did you expect Nintendo to do? They had to strip away those critical elements to change the formula. Now we're complaining that it's not the Zelda we grew up loving.

My biggest gripe with OoT and onward was how much goddamn hand-holding they did with the fairies and explaining basically everything. BotW was a huge breath of fresh air for me. They basically drop you in this world and let you figure it out.
Since I've beaten the game and moved onto other titles my playtime has waned, but I still fire it up occasionally, and I have already put 120+ hours into it. Easily my favourite game of the series. |

It might crack my top 5. Maybe. Feel like the combat difficulty was increased (I've only died once but in previous titles i wouldnt even take damage) but everything else was really dumbed down. Keep waiting for them to match MM or even the origional in terms of puzzles/side quests and they just keep going the other way. Combat is the best of the series. By far. But theres only 10 types of puzzles and all can be solved after 2 hours into the game.
Game is an absolute 10/10 But might be my 6th favorite zelda. No reason you could make this same game with its scope and sandbox but still retain that you might have to return with new items to progress later. The map is seriously the best map ever put in a game but its not needed. Why place a chest marker when you get to the chest 100% of the time ? |

And I can also love this game while still seeing some serious room for improvement. I don't have to pick between the two.
Its like at some point criticism became hate speech or something |

This is my favourite game in quite some time, but i do think it helped me, in that, i am not a massive Zelda fan overall. I enjoy the games, but don't know much about the lore and haven't played them often enough to know staples or have certain expectations.
You could have put any sprites in this game and it would be 10/10, it didn't need to be Zelda, in fact, it could well have been a completely new series if they had wished. I enjoyed it so much, but can definitely see why not being a Mega fan of the series or having expectations helped the playing experience be "free" In fact i think that freedom and the feeling of being alone and navagating this big world is what makes the game so special. |

For me this will be game of the year, and thats awesome. Im having a great time with it. I was hoping for GOAT. Its a high bench mark. I think making a sandbox the way they did is awesome and i hope they can do this again (even though non-hyrule zeldas have never sold well.) I just dont know why we need to choose between sandbox and zelda style progression. I think they would marry well... Also the lack of score is probably a good thing due to it being a sandbox but...RIP Zelda scores |
