As much as I'd love Chelsea to get pulled up for all the dodgy dealings, it would be hypocritical considering Liverpool have done it, and its rife throughout the sport

Yeah, just join that one, especially if the yahoo one is gonna have a dickhead scoring system like it did in the world cup, where Petr Cech keeps a clean sheet and gets 0 points and Frank Lampard who has the worst tournament ever ends up being my highest scoring player.

Rooney just been sent off in the Amsterdam Tournament for an arm in the face of a guy while jumping. I can understand why it was given, but it was pretty harsh.

Best bit was the very audible sound of a Scottish accent saying "fucking disgrace"

Yeah, and thats gay if a player can play absolute shit house and score the most points just cos he had a few tame efforts on goal. It was a terrible scoring system.

Clean sheets, goals, assists are best.

We got fucking pumped last night

Granted it was 0-0 at half time before the youth team and the ressies got a run out, but 5-0 to a German 1st Division side is pretty diabolical.

I'll be worried if we fuck up the Haifa game midweek. I still trust Rafa pretty much unconditionally, but I've never known us to have as bad a pre-season as this (even though it was common in the Shankly era)

We got everything we deserved out of that one. We really need someone to get the ball forward in midfield. Maybury might be able to do it, but Tiatto and Williams can't. We need Wesolowski back and healthy.

From TheOffside.com

Quote:
Wayne Rooney is continuing his form from the World Cup. In an exhibition match today against FC Porto, the Manchester United forward received a straight red card for an elbow that landed on Pepe’s face.

We weren’t at the match nor have we seen the highlights so we can only speculate that Rooney was trying to elbow teammate Cristiano Ronaldo’s mug and somehow ended up hitting the Porto player.

There is one problem with our theory. Ronaldo wasn’t with the squad in Amsterdam as he remained behind in England to work on his fitness. It is part of Sir Alex Ferguson’s master plan to never have the two plays in the same country, let alone on the same pitch.

Rooney’s teammate Paul Scholes was also sent off. Both players might be forced to sit out Man U’s opening match.

The MLS All-Star team (somewhat) has just beaten Chelsea in an exhibition 1-0. Chelsea brought most of their first squad, with Drogba, Shevchenko, Essien, Terry, Ballack and more. Not an extremely exciting game, but fun to watch. I don't like Chelsea's new uniforms (are they new?).

It is too bad that the MLS couldn't get more of their "stars" into the game. Landon Donovan, Clint Mathis and Eddie Johnson, who are all somewhat well known in the US, could not play due to injuries and other things. This game had to be scheduled around Chelsea's schedule, so there is a league match scheduled for tomorrow, preventing some players from playing.

Had to get pissed after that performance. Diabolical.

Worst game i've seen Stearman have, we still can't defend set pieces, next to no creativity. Johansson will always get raped by anyone with pace when he's at left back, Tiatto was his usual headless chicken self, and Maybury...just ARGH.

I felt alright after we lost 4-1 on the opening day last year, but not after yesterday.

Pretty harsh? Total bollocks more like.

Anyway, we are being heavily linked in today's papers with Carlos Tevez. We need a new #10 before the season starts regardless.

In 04/05 when we played Blackburn at home he was playing left back and LuaLua did him every single time, it was brilliant. But every single time, Johansson just grabbed him and cynically fouled him and he did it about 6 times before the ref did anything about it

That is why I hate Nils-Eric Johansson and Blackburn.

Need are heads checked? you're a moron if thats only just became apparent to you, it's a fucking joke, every price we buy or sell someone for is. Having said that, regardless of how much we do or dont spend it bears no effect on season ticket prices, so I don't mind, ROman has too much money anyway.

So long Hernan, you're just a slim Darren Mantle .

I expected him to go for well cheap and under his real market value but to go for nothing is insane.

And he left on a free with an option for Chelsea to get him back next season.

Charlton signed Traore for £2m.

I can't remember but I think that might be more than Liverpool bought him for.

Its a happy day for Liverpool fans

We're getting rid of Le Tallec (Thank fuck) and Pongolle (Fuck no) and will try to get Diao off the wage bill some how. Kromkamp and Dudek are both being touted around.

Fact is the board won't give Benitez the money to buy a striker until he sells a load of players AND qualifies for Europe.

Its fucking ridiculous how little the board have given Benitez considering how many players we've sold and how successful he's been. Rick Parry has absolutely no ambition at all, hence we're signing players who are good, but not top quality.

If things don't work out for Capello in the next 2 years, we've got to be seriously concerned that Rafa is gonna go to Madrid if we don't start backing him.

We've got a top class manager, we need to back him up with a top class team.

Leicester 0 Burnley 1

Better than the Luton match, but not by much. Kisnorbo was surprisingly poor, Fryatt took an early knock and should have been subbed, no service for him and Hume once again. People are saying AJ is doing alright, but we needed a replacement for Joey, and I've just not seen it. We need people to have shots on goal too, Josh Low reacted slowly to an open goal and wasted a good chance to equalise, but an otherwise solid debut, looked much more interested than Maybury.

Kenton's looking great, I raised an eyebrow when we signed him but he's keeping things tight at the back with a disappointing Paddy and Stearman. Kelly's done the right thing dropping Nissa.

I'm starting to wonder what Danny Tiatto has to do to win the fans approval, he looked really up for it tonight and made some good balls, if the fans make him wonder why he tries hard, we could lose a good player.

Refereeing was shite, gave absolutely everything Burnley's way. Not sure why we had a goal disallowed, but I'll check the highlights before I pass judgment, I'm not gonna say he cost us the match, but he certainly helped Burnley a bit.

No complaints for Henderson, even though he tipped Burnley's goal onto his own post and into the net. I like how he engulfs opposing strikers, even if it does create a few legit penalty claims.

We need someone in midfield who can put low balls to Hume and Fryatt, but the pot's dry so we either have to teach Andy Johnson or Gareth Williams to do it, or look at other options.

You swapped Josemi for Kromkamp.

He's looked solid but dull whenever I've seen him which to be fair is an improvement on Josemi.

Me thinks Gravesen will be pretty much the same price.

Although Martins would be my preferred next signing. THEN Bridge. THEN Gravesen.

I personally like Kromkamp, but he made a real fuck up against Mainz, looked like he wasn't concentrating on what he was doing.

You're right, he is totally solid, and actually has some good moments on the ball, but Stevie Finnan gets himself down the right and puts balls into the box consistently, while Kromkamp only does it when we stick him out on the right wing.

I'd keep him for the simple fact that he is solid, and it maintains the balance of 2 players for each position, and I'm sure we've got the money (especially with that 2 million for the Traore deal) to go for Kuyt, who I'm sure we are after.

Besides, we wont be able to sign Tevez for the simple fact that he will want to sign for a more glamorous club than us (United because apparently he supports them, and Chelski for the money) and I'd rather not get Trezeguet in on loan (because Juve won't sell him, and the board won't stump up the cash) as he can be notoriously lazy and totally inconsistent.

Kuyt is certainly unproven, but he's got a good scoring record in Holland and has the dynamics we need in a striker. We've got 3 strikers who are completely different, we might as well bring in someone who is an old-style British centre forward to join the Big man, the speedy little one and the grizzled veteran with the blistering left foot.

I think it does depend on tonight and the second leg, so hopefully the lads will pull something out tonight and give them a battering, I'm actually glad we've got the first leg at home as the last 2 qualifiers we played the second leg at home and failed to win them both, surely we've gotta be able to get a 2 goal lead at least....

Fucking hell, that was not a good game to watch, entertaining (always attacking not a lot in the middle) but difficult to watch.

Good debuts from Pennant and Bellamy (in my eyes at least) Bellamy just needs to keep his position and Pennant needs to start running at defenders more consistently, but the pair of them (and of course Gonzalez) had decent debuts.

Riise, Zenden, Alonso and Sissoko were utter shit, Riise was so damn sluggish, as was Zenden. Alonso didn't look quite up to speed, and Sissoko was making the same small mistakes he kept making last season. I love the guy, but he needs to sort his basics out, great engine, plays his position fantastically, but needs to improve his tackling and passing.

Positive for the second leg, if it isn't in Israel they wont have the home feel advantage, plus we've seen how they've played, and everyone will have a couple of games under their belts. Should be ok.

Oh and another great addition from the LFC Message Board

"...have the Israeli's vacated Anfield yet?? they have a nasty habit of occupying holy territory and never leaving........i hope they left quietly and quickly and don't claim Anfield as a part of 'their' (yeah right) land"
