Damn. As obsessed as WWE is with their public image, how bad does Darren Young have to be the get released? If he were even remotely decent, he probably would have gotten a title run for publicity.

Of the three (so far), the only one that doesn't surprise me is Summer Rae.
For a two month period, I enjoyed the Prime Time Players (mid 2015) and it was refreshing to see WWE make and Darren make references to his sexual orientation without making it a gimmick or exploiting it in some way ("Rainbow is my favourite colour"). I don't see why they couldn't put him as part of the Titus Brand at the moment and play on that past relationship. But they've obviously got "nothing for him". Emma just plain baffles me. |

She found out the hard way that not only was she totally not ready for Asoka, but WWE were no longer ready for her.
She could've had a ton of success given the right chance, but as usual, probably #LOLVince Sucks about alternate-universe Cena and Bubba's separated-at-birth sister too, although I kinda don't blame them with Summer. Darren could have been made great again by Bob Backlund if he'd had more than like probably a half-dozen matches at most with that gimmick. I actually really wanted it to work our, and maybe he'd get the IC or US belt after a solid build to the upper-midcard and a several month chase, and bless Bob, he really tried, but it wasn't meant to be. |

So it's no secret. I fucked up big time with that post, and I admit that. It was inexcusable and in extremely poor taste on my part.
All I can do is humbly apologize for that post to everyone who saw it and was offended by it. I have a rather nasty tendency to make posts without thinking them through or even just not making them in the first place. I sincerely feel terrible making fun of victims of an awful situation that nobody should ever have to go through, and I hope you all will accept my apology as sincere and not just me backpedaling after being called out on it. I've said all I feel I know how to on the situation, and I hope we will all be able to move forward and leave it in the past where it belongs. |

Some thoughts on the releases. From a pure performance standpoint, I was surprised Darren Young lasted as long as he did. He was approaching 8 years on the main roster and I really don't think he improved much at all during that span. It's not that he was a horrible in the ring, he was just...there. I'd say he was the better in-ring performer of the Prime Time Players, but that's not saying much as Titus is dreadful.
But unlike Titus, Young didn't have the mic skills necessary to translate to another on-screen role. He seemed so uncomfortable in all of those "Make Darren Young Great Again" vignettes with Bob Backlund. That mini-push he got where he faced The Miz for the IC Title on PPV felt like it was really just a last ditch effort to get him over and give them a reason to keep him around...and when that failed he was doomed to working horrible matches with Titus that got no reaction at all right after the draft. The cynic in me thinks WWE would've gladly kept him around as long as he wanted to be there purely so they can say they employ their first openly gay wrestler. But to his credit, he wants to keep wrestling and appears to have busted his ass during his injury and he's gotten himself into great shape. He's been cleared to return for months, and I'd rather he get the chance to wrestle elsewhere rather than WWE awkwardly shoehorning him into a half-assed push or not using him at all. Maybe he'll get seasoning elsewhere and come back improved, if not I'm sure they'd be willing to bring him back in an ambassador role down the line. Summer Rae's release is no real shocker. She hasn't been on TV since before the draft and she got hurt for a while. Apparently she'd been cleared to return since May but I hadn't heard any buzz of her coming back and the majority of her social media posts were related to her modeling career. I think this release was more of a formality than anything. Wouldn't surprise me if she's finished with the wrestling business but you never know. Emma though......oh lord. One of the first in a long line of misused NXT call-ups. They clearly had no idea what to do with her when they brought her up and they practically killed off the appeal of her fun babyface character immediately by pairing her with Santino who was stale beyond measure by that point. It was really awkward when she was Evil Emma in NXT while still being regular face Emma on the main roster. Not really sure what WWE didn't see in her. She was a good worker, seemed to have found her niche as a heel, appealed to a foreign demographic and, because this is WWE we're talking about, being young and really hot surely could've only helped her cause. Especially baffled by it all since they seemed to finally start using her after years of neglect and just had her work two really competitive matches with Asuka. I really don't get it. But I think she'll do wonderfully wherever she goes next, hopefully Stardom. |

It's like they finally realized "Hey, Emma actually has something to contribute" but then went "You know what, nah, forget it"

Conspiracy Theory:
It's a work! Darren and Summer are legit, but Emma is totally a work! She's gonna come back leading Billie Kay and Peyton Royce in an Evil Aussie Stable! |
