And also one more thing adding to this, when i first started watching and had zero idea of heel-face etc, Jericho was one of the guys that drew me into watching wrestling.

Gertner you were clearly an 80s baby and you clearly havent lived south of the Mason Dixon Line. A great example of what history looks like when written by the winmers. WE WILL FINISH THIS DEBATE SOON THOUGH.

This one was closer and much tougher for me to decide. I'd much rather watch André than Jericho and I also believe André would wrestle circles around Jericho one-on-one.

Andre was well known for being the man of 1,010 Holds.

Huge fan of Andre's trademark asaai moonsault- did a way better version than Chris Jericho.

Is Jericho a better Wrestler in the ring? Yep
Could you build a promotion around Jericho? Yep Was Jericho better on the Mike? Yep Who would you use to draw people to the show to see Jericho do his thing? Andre There is no doubt that Jericho is better all around but the man who will be front and center on that promotional poster will be Andre and that is why i voted for him |

Gertner echoes many of CyNick's views.

I mean he's a great poster, but he's in love with Vince and Hogan.

Whoa, whoa, whoa -- Gertner is both way more reasonable and way better at trolling (when he wants to) than CyNick. I'm curious to see this ongoing debate of the north versus the south between Gerty and Destor, but Gerty has got way more credibility than CyNick. Way more.

CyNick infuriated the entire wrestling forum thus proving he was an amazing troll lol
But Gertner is no doubt the goods. |

It's why people called wrestling "WWF" and not "wrestling". You'd NEVER find a WCW wrestler on a national talk show, national appearences etc.... |

If TPWW were around in 1990, Gertner would've said that WCW fans were fat virgins.

I guess it depends on how you define a troll. Gertner is better to me because he is often right, and that gets under my skin, hahaha.

I don't generally read the posts in these polls besides the match-up. I just cast my vote and give my opinion and reasoning as to why I think one superstar is better than their opposition. Is that not the point of these polls? Because that's exactly what I did, just like every other time.
André might not be better hold for hold but I do feel overall that he is superior. |

It's not a false comparison. The WWF wrestlers were in the mainstream media ALOT more than the WCW/NWA guys. They were exposed to a national audience. Flair wasn't. Saturday Nights Main Event was seen on National T.V drawing a huge share. Flair wasn't.
Flair just didn't have the same audience. He was regional, WWF was national. Especially in Canada. My friends and I didn't even know who Flair was until he came to the WWF. |

I cant speak for Canada im not Canadian but i am a southerner. Hogan was nothing down here and being on NBC did change that. We watched TBS. To my knowledge NWA never made any effort to expand into CAN be WWF going into SE CAN isnt exactly a far drive, still essentially regional. |

I watch wrestling for the spectacle and big angles and matches. I enjoy a great match, but great workers are a dime a dozen. Being a true draw is much rarer and has far more worth than being good in the ring.
Jericho has been very entertaining and has had some great matches, but he has never been a top guy. There is a reason he has so many IC title reigns. His skill set has him a tier below the very top guys his whole career. Don't see how you can justify him going over a massive star and icon of the business. It would be like Mr Perfect going over Hulk Hogan. |

Lol this is such a stupid comment, but at work I have a collection of Pop Figures on my desk: Andre, Hogan, Flair, Savage and Piper.
The ONLY one that I get questioned on the identity of is Flair . |

They did not tour the south a lot. They went into the south on occasion, just like the nwa went north from time to time. Neither did great outside of their stomping grounds.
It didnt become a national game until the nwo/austin era. The territory floods gates burst wide open in the mid to late 90s |

Vince ran southern territories like the nwa ran kansas. Just enough to keep it special otherwise it wouldnt draw.

Its hardly one show. Hogan and Flair sold out arenas every time they stepped into them all things being equal it boils down to records. Flair trumps Hogan by a laughable margin.

Andre will hook them in to the show, but a guy like Chris Jericho will keep them coming back, and to me that is what matters. Jericho may not have been as big of a "draw" as Andre, but he was/is consistently more entertaining (in my opinion). Seeing Andre would then eventually run thin and you would be left with going to the show to see Jericho do his thing. |
