This whole DCnU thing is so fucking stupid. I'm reading interview after interview trying to understand what the fuck they're going for. Mixed messages, contradictions in continuity, vague objectives. This is a mess. And yeah, more confusing than what it was before the reboot - a complete fail considering the whole point of this.

Like a lot of the updated costumes, but the whole premise reeks of desperation and stunt. Fuck this.

This whole thing is indicative of my main issue with DC. When Marvel launched the Ultimate line (not exactly the same thing, I know, but a similar idea), they kept it simple. X-Men, Spider-Man, Fantastic Four, Avengers. It was only when they started to get really convoluted and overpopulated that the whole line came crumbling down. DC does a relaunch, and we've got seven Bat-books right out of the gate. DC never does anything simple.

Not a knock on DC necessarily. They tell good stories. But it's just not at all accessible for a casual comic reader like me.

If this was a separate continuity altogether like Ultimate Marvel, I wouldn't have anywhere near as big of a problem with it as I do. That way they could do their 'fresh and modern' approach to the DCU while keeping the original continuity intact. Instead they're chucking out the current mythos and replacing it with a big confused mess of stuff they want to reboot and stuff they want to keep.

They shoulda just expanded on the Earth-One line.

JMS is still working on a Superman: Earth-One sequel. Read some stuff about it, and apparently a plot in it deals with Superman's sexual frustrations and him not being able to be with a woman because he would DESTROY them with his penis.

I'm cutting down on all comics and only have interest in like 2 DC books- Justice League and Action Comics (and Batman Inc whenever it's back)

If anything I can read about what happens to the 'universe' online, don't really care to spend time on so many books these days.

I don't really have an issue with making him black, it is all the same to me.... but can't picture Fishbourne being a good Perry.

Perry White was basically the prototype for J. Jonah Jameson, the loud boisterous overbearing boss who hounds poor Jimmy and only puts up with Lois's back-talk because she's an awesome reporter. Granted, he's not as much of a total bastard as Jameson, but he's still supposed to be the old news-room lion.

I really just can't see Morpheus being able to pull that off. Plus, I'm getting really sick of supporting characters in long-standing superhero series suddenly getting race-changed for no other reason than 'because we need more black people.' Is it really that hard just to create a new character?

Henry looks great. Love how he has a certain intensity in eyes. Routhe really lacked that in the last film. Hoping this is good.

Superman Returns wasn't that good. Catwoman and Jonah Hex were fucking awful. Haven't seen Green Lantern but that's received nothing much but bad reviews. All of DC's off-shoot movies received mixed reviews, films like Watchmen, V For Vendetta etc. (I liked V for the record, but found WM incredibly boring after the first half hour).

All's I'm saying is that outside of Batman, DC doesn't really have a great track record, not since the original Superman movies anyway. And of those, 3 and 4 were also crappy.

I'm still standing by my original statement earlier in this thread that the only thing that could really spike my interest in a Superman movie is if he had a fucking monster of an opponent like Doomsday.

Plus, we have Batman next year AND The Avengers!!! Couldn't give a fuck about Superman right about now.

Of course, I'll probably eat my words in a couple of years time once this movie has made a billion dollars and been ranked better than The Dark Knight etc.
