Logan Spin-off Film Based on X-23 Currently in Production
The director of Logan teased he's currently working on a spin-off film featuring Wolverine's cloned daughter X-23. Also teased this likely being the direction for future Wolverine films and the success of Wonder Woman as the main reason for this decision.
Film itself is in the script writing stage of development. Quote:

She's gonna need someone to play off. A near mute girl, even if it's Daphne's X23, may not be enough.

X23 would be what we call: a break out character. Already popular in the comics, everybody knows and loves her now. Just like Harley.

There are comics?
Next you'll be saying there's a guy that managed to spin "Stanley" out into two separate names. |

I'm saying her rise was comparable. Started in a cartoon, went to comics, got some 'sub-culture love' but not quite mainstream, then BOOM - one movie later all the normies know about her.

Needs a slutty costume for girls to cosplay as before she gets to the next level......
Which could be problematic with the character and actress being underage. |

Dunno if all the normies would even know who X-23 is. They might know the feral little girl in Logan, and might even be able to tell you her name is Laura.... but you mention X-23 And I bet they are alk "huh? Who?"

You're splitting hairs here. X23 = Laura. It doesn't matter if they're literally using a code name.

But anyways, I do agree that Logan was good enough, and the little girl's performance good enough that a spinoff continuation film could do good and get lots of attention.
I do agree that she might need a new person to play off of so it isn't just her. |

It's highly unlikely they'll adapt Nyx in this climate so her friends are out. And Marvel aged her up a good 5-6 years since her comic debut to a young adult now, so a lot of her young adult adventures won't fly for the still teenaged Daphne. Some kind of adult draw is needed. I'd go with a female mutant, Rogue even, to mentor her.
And it might be a good time to seriously consider lowering the rating. Daphne is a fresh faced breakout with unimaginable draw potential for teens especially girls. Can't ignore that. |

Fuck that. There is enough artistic integrity being thrown in the trash for marketing reasons these days. Leave x-23 alone.

And considering that Fox's R-rated films have done better than the pg-13 x-men films, it's an unnecessary change from a business standpoint.

I don't know much about comics and stuff but X 23 was in a.cartoon before. Not that it matters because Logan did enough to sell me on the character. Plus she is basically a female Wolverine which means awesome powers that do well in a lot of different stories/fights.
I don't think a movie needs to have a super known hero to be successful now a days. She will get the Logan rub, have a lot of awesome fights, and comic book movies do well in general. |
