Shane Douglas is my least favourite wrestler of all time. I hated watching him.

His promos were the same thing all the time and they took up waaaaaay too much time.
"Fuck" "Dick Flair" "Ha! Ha!" I couldn't stand watching him in ECW. Using a belly to belly as a finisher in a company where people are going threw tables for a two count wasn't very believable to me at the time, especially when his looked like dog shit. He was just bleh to me. The only person I probably hated watching more was Test pre-race Keibler. Instant channel changer. At least Test didn't take up half the damn show. |

I get that. He was the last bation of the first wave of ECW before it got edgey. But in many ways he usered in a lot of it to his credit. But I get your issues. Especially if you were pubescent at the time.

Lol I still to this day can't watch him. That fucking match at Barely Legal with Pitbull 2 was so fucking terrible.

The only time I really liked Shane Douglas was when he was teaming with Ricky Steamboat in WCW. Probably had more to do with me being a huge Steamboat mark but I enjoyed them as a team.

I honestly can't recall one single Shane Douglas match that I enjoyed. Taz had more than a few. Pretty easy pick here.

Taz personified ECW. He is, for me, the first guy you think about when you remember the company. He was booked really well, but i think the key difference here was that he was believable in his role. It seemed like a natural fit and, as someone said in the other thread, if he was coming round today, he would get a much better shake in WWE.
Douglas always seemed too forced. He didn't come naturally as "The Franchise". I would compare him to Jeff Jarrett in may ways, bland, and difficult to like or get behind heel or face. A guy booked much higher than his station. He looked awful and i would go even further than ABT and say i cant remember one entertaining moment he gave me as a fan, never mind match. Boring is the first, and only word that comes to mind. |

Taz.
Never really given a fuck about Shane Douglas, other than when he was in the Revolution, and that's only coz I was a 12 year-old mark who thought wrestling was real, and he was associated with Benoit and Malenko at that time (briefly). |

Never watched ECW, which is where I imagine both these guys' best work was.
I then only vaguely remember Tazz as a rassler in WWE, and only vaguely remember Shane Douglas in WCW. I guess I "remember" Tazz more, so if I were forced to pick I would probably go with him...... but I am not being forced to pick, so I'm probably just going to sit this one out. |

Annoyingly, all his best matches were as a babyface. Austin summed him up on his podcast, great baby wrestler, great heel promo, but the two could never line up.

Even as an 11 year old with no standards watching 2000 WCW (I mean, I watched 2000 WCW and didn't think that it was shit at the time) - Shane Douglas bored the absolute shit out of me. That's saying something.
So Taz pretty much wins by default, although I immensely enjoyed him anyway. |

Not really a fan of either, but I guess I'm more of a fan of Taz. I did like the Steamboat-Douglas team, but I can really only remember their Starrcade 1992 Tag Team Title match against Barry Windham and Brian Pillman... and just looking at three out of the 4 names in that match it's obvious why I liked it. I might think Taz is overrated, but his work is better than Douglas'

I take that back I did like the Three Way Matches that Shane Douglas had with Terry Funk and Sabu, but again, look at the other people involved.

Taz was more entertaining all around. Shane Douglas pretty much had one moment, when he threw down the NWA title for the ECW one.

Taz mainly because I saw a lot more of his work and felt he was better overall as a wrestler. Also for having more memorable moments than Shane.
Shane's promo proclaiming the birth of a new ECW was great but also the only big memorable moment I usually think of when it comes to his career. |

Shane Douglas refused to have a gimmck manager match against Jim Cornette. Jimmy Valiant did it and sold for Corny.
It's what originally got the heat on Shane from Flair. Everything Shane got he has earned for being a dirtbag. Screwed over Dennis Corlluso. He's just a bad person. |

Taz easily. Shane Douglas he only got to shine in ECW because it was a pond devoid of big fish and even then watching him he's just boring to average. Promo wise it does not take much for a guy to drop a lot of swear words and appear edgy or whatever. The likes of Savage and Flair and even Raven cut amazing promos with out needing to swear Douglas is nothing without it. (I'm not against swearing its just for him theres nothing behind it other than the fact that he gets to curse)

Taz all the fucking way.
My favorite Shane Douglas matches were when Taz beat him for the Title. So yeah. Shane was mediocre in TNA too. I remember watching him puke during a match with Raven once. They kept it in the video for some reason. Edit that shit out. |
