Part of trouble with this is that not many people here probably experienced the career of Misiwa firsthand. You can list reasons why Misiwa's career was better, and go back and watch matches, but at the end of the day it doesn't compare to the esperience of watching HBK's career as it happened.

Gonna vote Misawa just because, even though I have never seen him. I just like making things closer.

Last night I was leaning towards Misawa because of all those classics from the late 80's through the 90's and early 2000's. But besides his 2003 match against Kobashi 2000 era Misawa wasn't very fun to watch. Whereas Michaels never lost a step. And kept producing classics. Think I gotta go with Michaels.

I dunno people foget late 80s to 94 was complete mediocrity from HBM but the years were so forgettable that...well...people forget them. Still, valid reasons. Once HBM hit his stride he stayed excellent unless he couldnt find his smile.
Misawa def slowed down in his 3rd decade...i personally cant fault him but its a fair critique all the same. |

The Rockers run I wouldn't say was mediocre. Some great matches in that run.
Early heel Michaels was pretty meh I'll give you that. But his match against Davey, SS against Bret and matches against Marty were good. |

I will absolutely say it was mediocre. Out of every territories rock in roll èxpess rip off the rockers were probably the worst. Generic, unimaginative, lifeless.

Was it his best stuff? No. Was it better than 2000-2007 Misawa? Yes.

Yeah I dunno, a lot of older Misawa's performances were pretty disappointing. His match against Samoa Joe was nothing compared to Kenta Kobashi's. His appearance in ROH were pretty lackluster. I honestly don't remember a lot of his Noah stuff through this time period but that speaks for itself that it wasn't very memorable. Early Shawn Michaels was at least enjoyable.

Aghain, strongly disagree. There was nothing enjoyable about the rockers for me but this is def an impass of preference. (Unrelated but Joe v Kobashi wasnt good...it was just a best of from both guys...thought it was meh...but damm was the crowd HOT. Electric.)

Rockers were over and were fun to watch. Michaels also deserves credit for DX which hasn't even be mentioned in this thread. He has had a pretty storied career and so many memorable moments. He could have continued for longer too, but chose to walk away as the best.
Glad he has made it through this round. Probably the hardest first round match anyone has been given in the history of this thing |

Too late, but I would have gone with HBK. Like his old work as a cocky ladies' man, love his therem. Also, I have no idea who the other guy is.
