Ron Darling is so much better with Gary Cohen and Keith Hernandez. Ron makes some great points about the pitchers but he needs competent people to riff with.
Ernie Johnson and Cal Ripken are terrible. |

Reynolds and his crew were just as fucking bad in the game lastnight. It's like they're teaching a crash course in how to NOT call ballgames.
Buck Martinez and Pat Tabler (Jays commentators) are not very good at all, but god I'd take their stumbling and bumbling over the TBS idiots. They at least have passion for what they are doing and clearly love calling the games and it kind of shines through much of their evident incompetence. And I think Ron Darling is decent as well, but it's hard when you have no flow with the guys you're working with. |

Definitely. I feel like with a lot of the local broadcasters, they develop a very obvious rapport with one another and it becomes glaring when they're forced to partner up with people they don't work with as often.

That I watched as many Mets games I did between 2009-2014 when the team was in the shitter is partially a testament to how entertaining Gary, Keith, and Ron made the broadcasts. I was far more likely to skip a FOX or ESPN broadcast when the game was otherwise meaningless.

Keep making a prediction at work that the Cubs will be up 3-1 on Toronto but choke and lose 3 straight.
As much as u want the Cubs to win because Chicago rules, but fuck hearing it from the fans. |

You mean kind of like how White Sox fans acted in 2005?

Well, I am talking over a 15 year span. If you hated some fans for one year but not the other 14 you are ahead of the curve. Even when the Cubs are terrible they are still terrible. Imagine a bunch of Drofords on your Facebook wall.
Or you can continue to get defensive over nothing. You know, since this is just my personal experience with people on my Facebook. |

Estrada pitched a beaut. Jays hitters let him down. Nothing too surprising in that game.

I find it interesting someone can call a sweep after a team loses one game. Droford at his finest analytically, adding to the thread as usual.
Nevermind when they Jays won in 92 they lost the first game of LCS and the world series. |

Yeah, Kluber's stuff was pretty damned nasty. Pitched a ballsy game. Plus Andrew Miller is Andrew Miller. Jays will do better with more abs against him I think, no secrets with him tho, they know him well.

Droford is just upset his team was not only eliminated, but done so embarrassingly while his manager sat on his hands and blew it. So he runs down other teams that are better or more successful.
Missed the game this evening but knowing how well the pitching is I'm not surprised. |

Couldn't watch the game, but was looking at the "gameday" live on the MLB app...... seems like it was a pitching war...... Weird that Estrada pitched the whole game, but seems like he only made two mistakes (which admittedly cost them the game).........

Happens. He gave up 2 runs. That's a gem every time. Not his fault Cleveland shut down the offense.

Yeah, nothing a pitcher does when he gives up 2 runs over 8 innings is "costing his team the game". He was fucking unreal.

It's pretty amazing how much the Yankees may have influenced this Postseason by trading Miller to the Indians and Chapman to the Cubs.

The most underrated thing about Andrew Miller... the facial hair. Remember you can grow facial hair if you're on the Yankees. It may have added to his slider. Who knows.

Yup. And I still feel like there's a very good chance of the Yankees bringing Chapman right on back next year. At minimum they'll surely be in the bidding war with the Cubs and probably the Giants.

I still don't think the Jays will get swept but it's tough to imagine them winning when even a slightly below league average guy like Tomlin was able to shut them down.
Who knows though, maybe they'll get some home cooking in Rogers. |

Cubs gave up there best prospect for him, but that prospect was a short stop and we're stacked in the infield for the next 10 years so it was all good.
