No but they did move the team away from the number 2 market in the country, and made it the statistically least popular team in the league and rank near the bottom in merchandise sales.

They dont really haev any players that are top star quality (off the field) that would get tons of people from other places buying their jerseys. You would think so, but Nick Saban hasn't had a problem recruiting people to Alabama who did something close to the same thing as Petrino.

Yes, the #2 market in the country that has been unable to land a team since then.

They won a superbowl and went to a second which is more then a lot of people can say.

As for Merch Sales, you have the historical favs, then who's hot now... I mean the raiders can go 0-16 and will be one of the tops every year. That being said, I don't know if they ever changed it, but Merch sales used to be split evenly... so if the Rams sell 10mil or 1mil they get the same as every other team.

Coaches get fired mid season all the time. Why can't coaches leave in the middle of a season? Every employee in the NFL, owners included, knows the NFL is a business first and a sport second. Petrino saw an opportunity to get the fuck out of a God forsaken situation in Atlanta and he took it. Don't crucify Petrino for looking out for himself first because Arthur Blank and everyone else on the Falcons are doing the same thing.

So what is the point of signing a contract , and leaving midway through the FIRST season ? OK ..so things weren't going well in Atlanta , the whole Vick thing..losing games cuz he can't coach NFL guys,whatever. At least be a man about it and confront your team..and wait till the season ends. He was a selfish bitch is all what it boiled down to..you can't really defend that aspect.

Listen..I get it. I'm aware that 9 out of 10 coaches or players never honor a contract. The thing I didn't like was that he bailed on his players without being a man about it and telling them face to face. I mean right after a monday night game too he just bails and starts doing that hog dance or whatever that is down there. Couldn't he take the job, make the team aware of it and coach till the end of the season? I don't know what stipulations they have but just the way he did it, makes him look like a biatch.
