EDIT: So the Neo is gong to be unveiled on September 7th at the Playstation Meeting most likely, so let's see what happens.
Who's in the house? It's Andrew House. It's not being shown at E3, but it exists. Quote:

I'm hardcore enough to own both xbone and ps4, but not enough to buy both upgraded versions. Will probably go with tne zbone since it's more powerful.

PS4 still has Sony exclusives and those Japanese games that are exclusive by default due to not bothering with an XB1 version. The XBox One, upgraded or not, has no value to me anymore. I need to clear some of my backlog that won't be ported over and then sell it. I might keep it as a default 360 for the backwards compatibility stuff, but it's rumoured that might show up on PC too. Still, it was the Elite XB1 so I've got the controller. No regrets in buying one here. |

So now that this has been announced, I can now wait for the price of the standard PS4 to be lowered.
Hopefully, I won't be waiting too long. |

There may also be a "PSP-like device" coming, whatever that could be.
This is coming from someone at Foxconn and not Sony though, so it could be made by anyone. Migh be the NX. |

It's called the PS4 Pro.
So far, nothing for people who have standard HDTVs, talking 4k and HDR. |

Here we go, games like Shadow of Mordor even getting patches. If you're in 1080 mode, the power is used, thank fuck.

So in a super bizarre decision, PS4 Pro will not support UHD Blu Ray...

So the Hasney verdict, should you buy a PS4 Pro?
If you have a 4k TV: Yes, but if you want movies in the highest possible quality, maybe get a UHD blu ray player first If you're getting PSVR: Fo' Sho, I think this will be a slam dunk If you're sticking with 1080p: Super sampling and stable frame rates will be big upgrades, but for the price? Ehhh, depends on your cash |

It seems crazy the new Xbox supports UHD BluRay but not the new PS4. I bet Sony doesn't like the fact it would canibalize their more expensive standalone players coming..all I can figure..

GDDR5 isn't a system memory standard, what's Sony talking about?

They used it in the PS4 for system RAM too. It works really well as they have an 8GB pool of super fast RAM that they can use for textures or anything.
When it was announced, Mark Cerny explained why they went with GDDR5 and honestly, it's one of the bigger things the PS4 has over the XB1 which just has 8GB DDR3 and 32MB of esRAM |

Sony is currently dealing with some backlash after reports originally stated HDR patch support would cost money and Sony themselves not completely clarifying the situation.
At the moment, Sony will not charge for HDR game patches for the PS4 Pro but made no statement regarding 3rd parties being allowed to charge for it. Source of the confusion is from a translation of a recent interview Sony had with Game Impress Watch. http://www.gamespot.com/articles/ps4.../1100-6443445/ Sony ended up clarifying their statements again with Game Informer stating 3rd party developers are not allowed to charge for patches. http://www.gameinformer.com/b/news/a...lier-info.aspx Also according to a developer who posted on NeoGAF's forums, 3rd party developers can't pass the added patch fees to consumers and have to "eat" it in regards to additional costs. http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost...&postcount=589 |

Its just fast RAM that can be used for any purpose. Theoretically, if there were slots for it, you could use it as a PC system RAM. The only problem is that GDDR5 has much lower latency than standard DDR, which is fine if you take it into account while programming, but would be a pain in a PC system RAM pool.
