TPWW Survivor JAPAN - More Spin Off Than Ricochet vs Ospreay
DISCLAIMER - THIS POST CONTAINS SPOILERS FOR NJPW EVENTS UP TO 19/6
Since TPWW Survivor XXIX is apparently going to loop eternally until the end of time, I'm launching a spin off, and this time we're heading to Japan! The Japanese variant has a couple of differences. Most important you get two guys (one from list 1, one from list B), and due to schedules it's a six week clock. I realise only a small number of people here watch NJPW or play Survivor, the crossover is probably miniscule, but that just more chance to win. You like winning right!? If you don't know what's going on here just pick some random names, whatever looks the most American, easiest to pronounce, etc. Rules:
Sign-ups are allowed until the start of the the 6th March 2018 edition of NJPW Anniversary Show at the start of show, in the beginning of this night / morning, right then, on Tuesday, March 6, on this day, eliminations will be eliminated, starting on this show, on the New Japan World, in the genesis of Yoshi Tatsu. Winning wrestlers must sit out 3 seasons before returning. However, as this is the debut season, IWGP Champion "The Rainmaker" Kazuchika Okada will be ineligible for selection due to his massive advantage of never losing. In the event of a second season, Little Kazu will become eligible. I will be participating in the game, but in the interest of fairness, I won't make my pick until at least ten pairs of wrestlers have been chosen. In the somewhat likely event that ten pairs of wrestlers are not chosen I will make my picks on 5th March. If less than five pairs have been chosen I will immediately declare myself the winner. He is as black as post 80s Michael Jackson, good shout.
Turnout is better than I expected, but of course it stalls on 9 people so I can't pick yet, as is tradition. |

Updated up until New Japan Cup Night 1, obviously spoilers everywhere in here from this point on. Steele and adamle are the only ones to take a loss so far. Plenty more to come over the next week.

Yep, and it's STD's Young Buck that takes the knees, making him the third contestant wiped out so far.

Up to date now, there's about a month before the next big show but there's a bunch of smaller "road to" shows leading up to it, as usual with NJPW tours it's mainly going to be core roster putting in the work. Also worth noting that Supercard of Honor is purely an ROH show so it means nothing to this game so Kenny and Cody are both relatively safe for now.
After examining the data I'm going to cut the six week elimination rule down to five weeks once the first set are gone. Everyone who's going to appear has already shown up by now so six might have been too much. If five weeks goes the same way I'll cut it down further to four weeks. Oh and adamle, Steele, STD and Droford have all wiped out. Unfortunately RP still going strong. |

The Road to Wrestling Dontaku specials have claimed a few victims, notably poor little Hiromu. Now I have to rely on Cody. This is a travesty.
Also we're down to the top 10, only RP still has both of his guys still alive and they're going to be working against each other next week in multi man tags so lets hope for a double pin I guess. |

A travesty is Kitamura being 6 weeked when he's pretty obviously the next ace of NJPW.

I mean yeah, all of that is true, maybe definitely jobbing to Nakanishi on day 1 would have been a cleaner way to go for the future ace / Bone Solider(?) / maybe retired(?) big old young powerboy.
I hope he comes back for next season. |

The Wrestling Dontaku event today has claimed the (survivor) life of everyone's favourite Japanese Marty McFly cosplayer, KUSHIDA, just one day before he was probably going to lose to Will Ospreay. Godspeed.
Not looking like any eliminations are going to happen on tomorrows shows, all of the main Bullet Club guys are in a ten man tag but none of them are going to get pinned because Camacho is also in that match. Nagata is still stretching the young boys, Tenzan is probably (hopefully) resting his knees and Jay White is in a six man against the mid-card foreign guys while tagging with Yoshi-Hashi and Goto so it would be a huge surprise to see him go down. The timed elimination counter will remain at 5 weeks. For anyone working tomorrows show that timer expires just one day before the next big show, Dominion. Probably nothing to worry about, unless your guy is in Bullet Club. God fucking damn it. |

The rest of this months shows are a tournament called Best of the Super Juniors, but all of the Junior Heavyweights have already been eliminated.
Tenzan and Nagata are working a show on 15th May but the rest of us look like we're getting timed out. There's one show on June 4th (The final day of the tournament) where no card has been announced so it's entirely possible to be saved at the last possible moment. |

I don't think Nagata is actually ever going to get pinned again now that he's retired from the G1 and is exclusively dad of the young lions.

Of the six guys who timed out, only Cody and Nick Jackson would still be alive if Dominion was a day earlier.
Now it's down to the dads, this might take a while. |

Tenzan and Nagata are both on the Kizuna Road tour, but theyre still in young lion tag matches. There's actually a few tag matches where they face off along with sole NPC survivor Nakanishi but none of them are going to get pinned because Oka is there.
The only glimmer of hope comes in the form of Team Super Strong Machine (Tenzan, Nagata, Nakanishi, Taguchi and Tanahashi) vs LIJ on the 19th, but Taguchi is the fall guy in that match too. New Japan Dads are immortal. |

I took Nagata specifically because I knew he wouldn't be in G1 anymore.
Pretty sure Tenzan retired from it a couple years ago too - would be a nice swerve to have him in it anyway to honor the injured Kojima but probably won't happen. This shit could last all the way to November in the Tag League or something. |
