Today's News:
1) For those interested, today is the last day for online multiplayer support for Nintendo DS and Wii games due to Nintendo ending their online Wi-Fi gaming service after today. Some notable games affected include Mario Kart Wii, the Professor Layton series, and 3rd party games like GoldenEye 007 and Tatsunoko vs Capcom.

1) Update to Zenimax-Oculus VR legal news as Zenimax has officially filed a lawsuit against Oculus VR in regards to their claims the Ouclus Rift tech being partially based on stolen tech from John Carmack after he left id Software. Oculus VR still claims none of the tech used for the Rift is based on Zenimax tech nor was any of it stolen.

Compared to the amount of time that passed between The Wolf Among Us ep. 1 & 2 and 2 & 3, it seems the wait between 3 & 4 is not a long one at all, which pleases me immensely.

Also, I always laugh when my dumbass tablet's auto-suggest word function comes up with "Blitzer" as an option after every single time I type the word "wolf".

yeah, I love Absolution myself. It's probably the only Hitman game I've spent any time playing. I haven' really played any stealth-based games since Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory.

That Watch Dogs sales number should be taken with a grain of salt. It is a free game with a lot of Nvidia GPUs at the moment so they may well have sold a few hundred thousand keys to Nvidia for real cheap. Ditto with any game that comes free with any GPU or other PC component.

I've been playing Mario Kart 8 a lot lately and I've got to say, it's a really enjoyable game. I'm playing it every day and I can't remember the last time I enjoyed a game so much that I played it every day and I couldn't wait to play it again once I stopped playing.

The only problem I have with it are the new items. In my opinion, all of them but one are just terrible and pointless. The Super Horn is pretty good and it can really help you out a lot, but the others are just horrible. Both the Boomerang Flower and Piranha Plant achieve nothing, more so the latter, and the Crazy Eight has to be the most frustrating item ever.

The vast majority of the time, when I get the Crazy Eight, I explode within five seconds of having the item, as another driver, be it CPU or an actual player, will always touch the Bob-omb that's hovering around me and it'll go off, effecting me and everyone close to me.

I can see that it was created with good intentions but how anyone is expected to drive, keep an eye on the track, see what item is best to use at that moment and to correctly aim the weapon at your target, while watching your back for attacks, all at the same time is pretty insane.

Also, Battle Mode is pretty bad too. Having a track instead of a stage/arena just makes Battle Mode pretty boring.

What I do with the Crazy 8, is the second I hit a straightaway I fucking unload everything in the direction with the most opponents.

The monster plant is really good during traffic or hazards. That fucker will eat almost anything provided he's not in recovery of his last chomp. Son of a bitch ate a boomerang coming back at me. Crazy.

The boomerang is basically a green shell with a second try tied to it. If you miss the first shot you can angle behind the other guy and ensure he gets hit on the rebound. It's also good for getting a red shell of your ass if you time it right.

Yeah Battle Mode is shit. It's only remotely viable a gametype on the smallest, simplest track (the first track), and even then I wish for an arena map. Kinda crazy they didn't roll with that for whatever reason. If DLC is to be attempted, let it be arena maps for Battle Mode.

1) Some Microsoft related news:
  • According to Microsoft, ditching the Kinect should result in at least a 10% boost in power for the Xbox One based on the new Kinect-less set of dev kits.
  • Xbox One controller driver support for PC games was recently released. All games that worked with the 360 controller was stated to also work with the One controller.
