Jericho' future (Spoilers)
Just thought I'd post this as a new thread since some of you were only interested in NJPW while Jericho was there. He's not done yet.
He beat down Naito after the last match of the card and they fought each other. Last edited by Destor; 01-05-2018 at 08:53 AM. |

I've changed the thread title a little, but even that looks like a spoiler of the main meat. |

It's all good. Thing is there are more things to talk about on TPWW than rasslin' but even logging onto the forum index to get to the casual forum it's easy to catch a glimpse of the topic title.
This thread title's way better since it's generic enough to not give away what he does or anything. |

Coolio.
I will say that there's fortunately more setup than that for other things, compared to the only big thing from last year being the return of Suzuki-Gun, so you should still watch it. |

Yeah, I was mulling getting up early and watching again but after being up for 20 or so straight hours from the start of the New Japan Rumble til the time I finally was able to get to bed, I decided 8 hours of sleep was more important, ha.
Will have to watch tonight. Pretty stoked for it. Should set up another great year in New Japan. |

I like it... At it's current level that is. The worry is that because it seems to be working, they double down on it and just become NJWWE. Hopefully not, but right now, I enjoy the balance.

My hope is since they aren't the WWE they don't double down. That's a very WWE thing to do. "OH THIS WORKED ONCE LET'S KEEP DOING IT CUZ WE AREN'T CREATIVE"

For WK12, listening to New Legacy Inc was the way to go. They were so into a lot of the matches and any downtime was covered by Brian Pullman references for some reason. I mean, it is their CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHTS

Meltzer is saying that Jericho/Naito is either happening at Dominion or for the Long Beach show, it's undecided right now.
He also said that Jerichos deal is "ridiculous". |

He has been good for them. He's probably the guy mostly responsible for that increased gate and all the subscriptions. I mean, there is goodwill and all that, but Jericho's affect has to be taken into consideration. He means more over there than he does over here. He's raising his stock and helping them. He's probably worth the money.

Totally. I'd question how much someone like a Batista returning just for Wrestlemania moves the needle for WWE, but Jericho involved in a smaller company for 3-6 months is worth a lot of eyeballs.

Well, now that his Hollywood persona is established, I think it means more for the WWE now than it possibly has since his rise in 2005. When he returned in 2014, they immediately heeled him by putting him alongside Triple H and Stephanie and inserted him into a prominent position through the Bryan rise. This was so obviously bone-headed that CyNick assumed there must have been a plan. It was a plan so good that Batista ended up doing three straight PPV jobs and ended up leaving frustrated.
If he returned now, I think he would mean a lot more as a babyface. Especially given his frustrations are more well-known amongst the sections of the crowd who would boo him. If he refuses to take shit from Stephanie? Instant mega-babyface. They might white meat him and keep him away, or even just make him a heel, but I know I would be cheering Batista against Triple H, for example. |
