I was expecting to come in here and just vote against Bryan partially out of spite but to protect the sanctity of Better Wrestler... This might as well be a bye.

From what I have seen of him, Austin Aries isn't as good as he thinks he is. Now, I don't know. Maybe given the same opportunities he could have "broken out" like Daniel Bryan did...... I mean, before Daniel Bryan started heating up, I would have thought he never had it in him......
But I can only vote on what I have seen, so D-Bry wins easily. I'll say one more thing about Austin Aries....... when he was The Austin Starr it was better than any Aries stuff I have seen. |

Shocked at how one sided this is. Might be a case of a lot of people not seeing Aries' best work. I think that in ring they're about equal, withbryan being a bit better technically and aries having more agility. But aries is far better on the mic imo, so I went with him.

Daniel Bryan.
His entire story arc, from his MITB victory until his retirement was pure perfection. His matches were great, his promos were great, his character development was incredible, from the birth of "yes" as a heel, to "no", to Team Hell No, the whole anger management, the feud with the Shield, the "weakest link" stuff which led to his singles run, and the entire stuff with the Authority up until his retirement. It was all so organic and flowed perfectly. |

And I actually like Bryan. He's great in his role. But I think at the end of the day he's gonna end up as the most overrated wrestler of all time and there won't even be a close #2.

Daniel Bryan has this one Bryan has meant way more to wrestling than A Double
His run was the last time fans were genuinely emotionally invested in a performer (everybody gets the you deserve it chants nowadays it means so much less than it did) |

D-Bry was better on the mic before his big face turn and "The Yes Movement". I enjoyed his mic work from when he turned heel, through Team Hell No, though.
Some of his best stuff came after retirement on Talking Smack, though. |

Austin Aries, no secret my dislike of Daniel Bryan. Wasn't even a big fan of his as American Dragon but my dislike really started once he got a huge push in WWE. Have always been a fan of Aries work from ROH to TNA to his short time in WWE though. Always seemed liked he belonged no matter where he went or what he did and to for me Bryan didn't feel like he fit in the main event in WWE.

Bryan easily. More skilled in the ring, solid talker, great connection to the fans, plus again, like I said last round as he faced King, he became a Grand Slam champion in WWE in about 5 years from his main roster debut, roughly only half of the time it took Michaels to become the first-ever, in roughly a decade, enough to make him blush.
Aries I think has a marginally better look, but in all other aspects, he pales in comparison to the American Dragon. |

If we're judging this by their WWE work it's Bryan by miles. If we're judging this by their ROH work... it's still Bryan, not by as much, but still. Aries in 2007 was dreadful. Don't think I've ever felt that way about Bryan.

Holy shit, Bryan turned it around? Interesting.
Bryan in this one. Austin Aries was compelling when I first watched him, but he's had minimal growth, and the shtick just doesn't retain its magnetism over time. He's a good talker, but it doesn't have the same effect as Bryan when he talks. I also agree with the assertion that Bryan was a better commentator. Bryan, Bryan, Bryan on this one. |

I guess I'm judging it on everything they've done and was just spouting on about the time they've done in the same companies. Bryan wins this because he can draw classics out of just about anybody while Aries can draw a very good match out of anybody, not a classic though. Bryan is one of the all time greats. Aries is just a work horse I'd want in my opening match or maybe a midcard match.

Don't even like Bryan that much personally, but I would have felt dirty picking Aries over him. It's night and day. I don't mean that as a knock on Aries but they really aren't even in the same league. The only area Aries can even compete with Bryan (but still loses) is in the promo. Plus Aries seemed really butthurt about not going over the greatness that is Neville when he came up to the main roster. Like he might have legit cried.

Other than who was a better heel, there is not one other category I'd consider for better wrestler in which I'd have Aries ranked ahead of Bryan.
Bryan by a mile. |

One's a quitter.
One isn't. Austin Aries had the looks and he had the ability to talk but I am not sure he really had the desire. Bryan all the way |

Bryan.
Feel he was better in a lot more areas and overall as a wrestler than Aries. Also didn't help Aries' WWE career was a bust although not entirely his nor WWE's fault. |
