I'm completely clueless with things like this. I have read of people buying HD tvs for games and still not being able to see text or the HUD because the screen was too small or it was 720 and not 1080 or it wasn't this or that etc.

Well, for starters, how far are you from the TV? 39" isn't bad....But if you're sitting far away, it'll be an issue.

Size-wise, it's probably good for you, then. Things I don't see are refresh rate, contrast ratio, and similar, which will affect how it works as a gaming display. Then again, it's almost certainly a step up from what you have....

Aww, I've been ignored. That is too bad, here I was hoping to bury the hatchet so to speak with someone who it is becoming increasingly problematic to avoid these days due to this thread and which I don't see the point in continuing this little feud for such ridiculous reasons.

It's HD and affordable so it's a big plus. Guessing refresh rate will be something to do with the lagging I hear modern tvs tend to do with games.

I've never seen a lot of lag in HDTVs in gaming, TBH. Granted, that's just my experience, but I've hooked enough of them up. If you're routing your system through an HTS there may be some lag between audio and video, but that's usually something you can fix on your HTS. I'm get to have problems even with games like Rock Band and Rocksmith, where the timing of sound to video is kinda...Important. Again, might not be universal, since people do complain. Refresh rate is sometimes used to talk about the response time, and you want a low response time (fewer ms) if possible. I was thinking the refresh rate in terms of hz (60 v 120), but it occurs to me it probably doesn't matter if you're playing on a console. I'm eeing reports even of Xbone and PS4 games being locked to 30hz, which means 120 makes no difference. Ever.

But honestly, this will be a step up in almost any case, so if mostly what you want to do is upgrade, it's probably fine. I'm just anal about the specs, half of which they lie about anyway.

I am considering a midnight release, however the walk home would take about two hours. The question is, would it be worth it to play it around five hours early?

I pretty much played for 13 hours yesterday and it's once Trevor gets involved that the game gets really interesting. Who knew the redneck would make things fun?

Anyway, as fun as the game is, I keep getting blown away by the technical achievement. If the game had better textures, it'd be the prettiest thing I ever played. Go take a helicopter and hover over the sea though and it just looks amazing. Explosions are also great, but the frame rate goes to shit. Just pretend that it's slowing down time for styles sake and it'll all be OK.

Is that the obvious "NES game with too many objects on the screen" slow down or the techy slowdown that a non-techy wouldn't notice?

That sucks. The only "bug" I'm hoping for is the the one SA had that made planes and cars spawn without drivers so you'd be walking along the street and a jet would just plough into the pavement infront of you. That was fun.

Maybe they'll fix the slowdown with a patch? Or maybe the slowdown goes away if you install both discs and now just the mandatory one.

A funny bug I saw while watching a stream, the guy was screwing around on a freeway and an AI car drove the wrong way up an exit and through oncoming just to get out and start a fight.

In SA, I liked that if you would go negative from gambling in LV mobster would be hired to chase you down. Gunna try and play with house money and see if it's like that in V.

Yeah but Hasney, aren't you playing a downloaded copy on a modded xbox? So I mean yeah, I'm sure the game is going to have some bugs like any game, but is there a possibility that it's just due to something having screwed up somewhere from the beginning point of the game being ripped, downloaded, burned, and ran on a modded piece of hardware?
