That was a much better episode for me. Like Asmo said, it might've been the shift in character focus. It just seemed a more well rounded episode that had a little bit more to it than a typical "case of the week" episode. Made me actually care about Fitz and Simmons, rather than them just being a bit of an annoying side act. Easing off on Skye was a bit of fresh air for the show too.
The writing definitely is still a bit off though, there seems to be zero wit in any of the comedy beats in comparison to pretty much all Whedon and all Marvel projects. Fully with Destor though, its got too much potential and too many good people behind it to not improve greatly. Last edited by Corporate CockSnogger; 11-06-2013 at 09:48 AM. |

one thing about the premise though is they can easily add and remove people with out the integrity of the show being jeopardized. it isnt reliant on anyone honestly even coulson (though they want it to be for some reason.) so this show has potential to completely reinvent itself countless times if it needs to.

Also, I am so down for Melinda May vs Black Widow. It seems Agent May's reputation surpasses even Romanoff and Barton, and it may be a curb stomp - but I wanna see that fight, even as a one-off spar for fun. |

Now THAT was a good episode! Please give us more like that. Hopefully we'll be able to stop losing viewers and get a second season!

Yessss, J August Richards is back. Now all they have to do is kill off Ward and use J August Richards as the muscle of the group and I'll be satisfied with where the show's heading.

Good episode. Probably the first time they've got the whole cast involved heavily while also giving the guest actors and villains ample time too. I much prefer having a recurring villain rather than monster of the week episodes. I even quite liked Ward this week. I was fully expecting him to be a lovesick puppy around May so it was good to see him shun her. I think Skye may have surpassed him as the least interesting character now, so good for him. The Coulson dying thing is reeeeeally dragging on though. The sooner they reveal that and get past it the better in my opinion. I'm far beyond caring how he survived now.
Got a feeling they're gonna drag out the inherently obvious plot of May being Skye's mother (or at least being the agent that dropped her off) on for too long too. |

I was hoping they'd have revealed Coulson's survival by now so they could focus on one "big reveal" at a time. Especially since that secret goes back to the movie.

Still think it's A.I.M.
The suits in the fire episode looked like A.I.M. suits, and Extremis ties in with A.I.M. and Iron Man 3. |

So, what's the verdict on 'The Magical Place'? Avoiding any spoilers at the moment.
The episode was paced very well. Probably the second best of the series, post 'FZZT'. It didn't answer all the questions, but being the mid-season premiere, managed to raise a lot of others to keep interest and buzz going. Also, the operation scene was painful, scary and the edgiest scene to be shot for a Marvel property. |

Yeah, really good episode. I like that Fitz had a bit if an edge to him. Would like to see that develop gradually. Ward might even be growing on me a bit.

If that's true (I don't remember hearing it, but I trust you), then that's a MAJOR oversight by SHIELD, since if it was his body there'd be traces of the Centipede hardware.
But the more I think about it, the more I'd be interested in seeing how long he could be "made" to be a mole for them on Coulson's team. |

Yeah, I can see the resemblance. But I'm not sure since he was a member of X-Force if they're allowed to use him. |

You'd be wrong and Deathlok was a member of X-Force? I go wiki.
*wikis* Huh....well as long as they don't call him Deathlok should be ok. |

I'm late but yeah, nice episode.
- Coulson's resurrection was kinda horrifying, and extremely sad. I just felt... bad. We need Fury's reasoning on this. - Reyna is gorgeous, and her powers of persuasion are extreme. I honestly don't know if she actually cared about Coulson or not. The flower inquiry was rife with ship tease. - Between May's swerve support and Skye's freudian cosplay I'm sensing something brewing between the two. - Also, this is the first time I saw Skye as 'SHIELD Agent Skye'. Good job, girl. - Not recovering Peterson's body was incredibly reckless to the point of SHIELD, as an entity, breaking character. - Please give Reyna a Heel Face Turn, I love her. |

Eh...hard to say what Fox will let go of. If he's part of anything X-Related it could be hard to actually call him Deathlok. So I don't know what they'd do.
But Mike will be back so I'm kinda happy. |

Another very good episode this week. If anything it resolved more unanswered questions and in a better way than last weeks. Glad to see the show really beginning to find its feet now. The whole thing of Skye's parents didn't really appeal to me, but now knowing that she was an 084 is a much more interesting concept, and I'm genuinely intrigued to see where it'll lead.
They do however have a lot of balls in the air right now and you have to wonder if/when/how they're going to get round to resolving a lot of them. There's obviously The Clarvoyent and Centipede as the main threat but then you've also got Ian Quinn, Rayna, Mike Peterson, the kid from this week seemingly gaining ice powers and also Ian Hart's character whose name escapes me right now who are all connected to Centipede somehow. I'm sure they'll get round to sorting all that out, but hopefully they don't just throw out timid resolutions just to get the plots tied up. |

I read it'll be back in March because Channel 4 want to show it all weekly without any breaks at any point.
Which makes me wonder why there's going to be about 6 weeks worth of sporadic breaks of the show in America. |
