Which was worse, WCW or TNA/Impact?
So which was worse, WCW or TNA/Impact?
Impact has now been around longer then WCW was and is still going. Impact has in the last few years had some bade reviews and so did WCW at the end of its time. While Impact has not reached the heights that WCW did, its still in business. |

TNA Impact only existed after wcw so they haven't outlived them. You could argue it's WCW's bastard son.

TNA is better because at one point they had Christian and he was their top champ.

I could argue that since WCW was dead its impossible for them to father that bastard. Also if someone is born and dies before me, I can't outlive them?

WCW was better. They were at one point the top promotion in the world with a roster knee deep in talent and huge main event stars.
TNA/Impact has never been anything more than a low rent wannabe that's never gotten past being a minor league promotion where washed up guys go or guys who didn't succeed elsewhere wander into to find themselves. And even with the "stars" they do create, they lose. Aj Styles is their greatest accomplishment but he's found greater success in Japan and is now the E's top face and easily their best performer. EC3 might be their second greatest accomplishment and he's gone and back in the E. They've done jack shit considering the amount of time and money that's been invested in them. |

WCW at the end was awesome, but then, I was a 14 year-old mark in 2001.

WCW was great overall. I'll go back and watch more WCW then WWE, especially from like 93-97. I just preferred it more.
WCW 2000 is what really blew. |

Wcw had an extended run of legitimate success. TNA/Impact never has. I'm not sure what comparison there is.

Like i get 1995 had Dungeon of Doom, but given it was 95 and we were used to seeing Hogan take on these larger then life characters...so it made sense to me The shit WCW pulled later on just made no sense |

True. But once they moved away from that and went more serious with the nwo invasion, the cruiserweight stuff, the horseman drama, etc, with stuff intertwining, it was incredibly compelling television over a number of years. Which you can't say about TNA/Impact at any point.

WCW ruled until early 1999 or so. By late 1999 it was barely recognizable.
I actually just watched a random episode of Nitro from November 1999 and it was barely recognizable. They would do like five or six rapid fire backstage segments in a row and there was just so much shit going on and it was all Russorific. Among the stuff I can remember. -Vince Russo (from behind, before he formally debuted onscreen) -Clean-shaven Harris Twins wrestling in suits as Creative Control -The Mamalukes taking Gene Okerlund to a strip club -Gene Okerlund dancing with a dozen women -Jeff Jarrett hitting Mike Tenay with a guitar -Chavo Guerrero awkwardly filling in for Mike Tenay for the rest of the show -Multiple segments showing infighting among the Nitro Girls -Atrocious acting from The Total Package and Miss Elizabeth -A Brian Knobbs promo -A billion vignettes of Symphony (Ryan Shamrock) receiving presents from The Maestro -Oklahoma And among the matches - I saw Dr. Death facing Jerry Only from The Misfits in a steel cage, and Juventud Guerrero beating Jushin Thunder Liger for the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship via smashing him over the head with a bottle of tequila. Just batshit crazy stuff. |

TNA.
Only real advantage it has over WCW is they managed to seriously screw up a lot more but not have the "death nail" occur yet. When WCW had their major screwups, their demise happened quickly afterwards. Their highs never reach comparable levels as WCW's and same for their status as the #2 promotion. ROH's owners being very stingy with finances is a big reason why they've never managed to supplant TNA/Impact as the #2 company in the US. |

The only thing TNA has ever had over WCW or WWEwas the knockouts division.
Otherwise they can't be compared to WCW because theyve never gotten out of the starting blocks and Where WCW had the money to cover its fuckups TNA's problems are always on full display. I'll give them this though they are unkillable. |

I know that the last year in WCW was bad, but some of the early 90's stuff was pretty bad too.

TNA is in a bad spot at the moment. At this rate the NWA will take over them and compete with ROH for the numger 2 spot

WCW had a great 1 and a half years. Their highs were way higher than TNA, but their lows were way lower than TNA. With the amount of resources WCW had, there's no way they should have been that bad. Not by a mile. WCW 2000 was unwatchable. I can't say that about any year in TNA.

WCW became awful after Starrcade 97. It was awesome from mid 96 until December 97. Then it just went downhill in a hurry.

Really disagree with that. But Starcade 97 is def the most influencial PPV of all time imo and did kill the company. They still had great matches and moments after. It wasnt like Nitro was a 3hr raging dumpster fire.

I started with WCW. And even when I started watching WWF, I still preferred WCW, because we only got WWF on a German channel with German commentary.
But on topic, WCW used to be the best. Impact is and was just laughable. |

Impact is what WCW would have been more or less if it kept going anyway. But Impact is by far worse than WCW.
