And did they actually do the "woken" glass shattering cutaway live or was that just added into the Youtube clip? Either way... What the fuck.

Bingo. The first week was whatever, because it was the first time the character had been seen and the back and forth laughing was kinda funny because it was unexpected.
Then WWE decided that it was the most important thing about the character and that nobody will believe he's crazy if he doesn't laugh all the time. Dude's laughed more in a month than he did during his entire TNA run. |

Something tells me that they only want this to get "over" to a certain (lower) level - but maybe I'm imagining things

There's no way hardy has any say in what he's doing cause this just reeks of what some moron writer that never saw the broken stuff thinks it would be

Wow really thought they would do something with them being in the ring but it was just more laughing. WWE really has no idea how to do the character. It's like Matt Hardy has overdosed on laughing gas.

I don't know, it had substance in TNA and told stories but its just one dimensional in WWE. Not the best thing Hardy could be doing in WWE at all.

Fuck, then they do something like this where Matt has either talked them into something or they had a good idea and I'm interested again.
Preferred his TNA piano as the faster pace was better for madness, but I like this as entrance music too. |

Figured they'd just make him laughing as his theme. I've liked the explanation for Sister Abigail but since then its been bad.

Matt did an interview with IGN and in it he said a Final Deletion style match is 100% in the works, the familiar characters from TNA will be brought in, and that hardcore fans need to have patience when it comes to the character because they have to get everyone else up to speed on all the quirks and nuances of the gimmick.
That last bit would be fine if they were introducing the quirks and the nuances and not just making him laugh every week. |

That is company line. Chavo Guerrero was happy being a jobber; Cody Rhodes was happy doing Stardust; Matt is just introducing the nuances. I'm sure they are planning a trash match, and I'm sure it will be just as bad at the TNA ones, but better produced and hated by fans of the actual gimmick when they realize it is trash.

I feel like the brass didn't really watch any of this gimmick and just said, "Hey! People like the laughing!"

Is there a "Woken Matt laughing" shirt on WWE Shop yet? Feel like they'd have jumped on that by now to go with the 10-hour video.

Depends what you're after. I have no clue why they went to it in the first place. I thought it was a bit hammy. He threw himself into it and some stuff worked, other stuff was kind of...um, okay.

I remember watching WWE at a love show and me and my son being the only people in our seating area cheering for Stardust.
I'm just gonna see how the Woken Matt Hardy storyline pans out , when is Jeff due back from injury. |

Goldust is one of the WWE greatest gimmicks of all time, so comparing Stardust to that is probably unfair.
I think it was pretty terrible though. He constant came out to no reaction and it just felt like Cody playing dress up. No consistency or proper story to the character |

Oh, the story and character development was shit. Nothing on WWE's part was good. But Cody played the hell out of it. And like I said, when he went to that Convention to confront Stephen Amell, it seriously made me think "Goddammit, I wish he was doing this character somewhere where character development was a thing and it wasn't just guys cutting promos while being diectionless."

But that's a moot point, since he's now getting the CFO$ treatment that will hopefully be fleshed out and cleared up. Unrelated to that, I've thought about something recently; part of what made the gimmick "good" to begin with was what it was born from. It was a heel turn on Jeff because he "selfishly got himself injured" in addition to jealousy over Jeff being a licence to print money in and of himself. But instead of a rote heel turn, it was more akin to the Booker T vs. Harlem Heat angle in WCW, where Stevie Ray kept taking the "marketable" stuff from his brother... from not being able to have flames on his gear, to replacing his theme music with the Leave It To Beaver theme. Matt did the same thing when he "won the rights" to Jeff Hardy as a brand. That's what started the "DELETE" business, as Jeff's social media accounts and marketing presence essentially became Matt's. Jeff became "Brother Nero" or "That Obsolete Mule" because he was no longer legally allowed to be Jeff Hardy, since the Hardy name solely belonged to Matt and his heir. Matt had cracked under the weight of his own ego, and all of the extravagance was over something so petty. Made Jeff come out to no music (and then his eventual "summoning"), made him wrestle matches in his stead or compete in tag matches where he had to do most of the heavy lifting and Matt got the victory. Cool take on basic stuff. ... then it snowballed into this whole other thing involving kayfabed interviews/podcasts and "preemoneetions" and time travel and teleporting and cheap CGI and a sentient drone and losts of shots of Reby's cleavage and a boat getting more over than Jinder Mahal and an imaginary scribe who suspiciously looks like Samwell Tarley and animals who are supposedly reincarnated historical figures and King Maxel's first televised match and all the other incredible shit the Broken/Wokenverse has spawned like creeper vines. I really hope WWE doesn't just distill this down to "DELETE!" and overexaggerated Matt laughs. |

As for Stardust, Cody was definitely making the most of a shitty spot. Thing that intrigued me is not only him clearly being squandered, but this also being about the time that there was a lot of talk of Roman having all sorts of charisma and wit when he is just "allowed" to be himself at these kinds of functions instead of having scripts shoved in his face for TV. I'm not the biggest champion of Reigns, mostly *because* of WWE (sadly, that is also majorly why I dislike Baron and had a really tough time getting into Rusev). And those are the two we hear about. How many others are in the locker room being squandered because "they don't have *it*" in the eyes of Vince, Steph, or Hunter?
Someone like Jason Jordan has been trying to get pushed forever (NXT even since pre -American Alpha... he was singles, then he was partnered with Tye Dillinger, then singles again, then AA...) and every time, the announcers would spend half the match putting over his look and credentials and just wasn't getting over because there was nothing else to him. He had less character than Steamboat's kid. It took until now for something he could sink his teeth into and give him some sort of depth: a cocky kid who think's he's better than he is with big mouth and a quick temper. There's enough there to make me stop calling him Porkchop Jones because I actually remember his name. He might have had that there the whole time, but had this whole "interjecting himself into The Shield" opportunity didn't come about, he would likely still be yet another generic musclehead because creative had nothing for him. |

I was wondering where Matt Hardy bumped into indy talent, but then realized they were 205 Live guys.

Ouch, Noid. Funny.... but ouch. So after weeks of build up, they just had a match on RAW? The match wasn't BAD, I just figured they would of at least saved it for the PPV |

They're actually all really talented, they just have completely failed (the company, I mean) to endear 205 Live to me.

I'm sure they'll just do the match again. Logical storytelling says Bray soundly defeating Matt Hardy again fair and square doesn't leave much reason for the feud to continue but it will. Because matches don't really matter in WWE world.

The guy who we'll be expected to accept as a legit challenger to Brock Lesnar's title at WrestleMania and also beat The Undertaker at WrestleMania last year just lost a match on Raw to The Miz.
