I personally enjoyed the old days where continuity errors were fixed with a * see issue XX or this takes place between XX and XX or errors like minor costume differences were just ignored . Now everything has to be explained and everything suffers from Clairmontitis ( 5+ year plot points that might get remembered ) that just has to be resolved. HAte 20 part stories and shit that carries on between 10 books over 6 months.

Honestly, I would rather they use their creativity and try something new with a character and possibly strike out, than do same old, same old despite the fact that it works.

Especially characters like Doom that have been around for half a century.
