I really don't know how harsh 'dork' is supposed to be in this of all discussions.

Either I'm a complete dork for caring about how games are designed (for shame), or I'm in error and can't be that much of a 'geek'. I seriously do not get the 'dork' thing. We're talking games in a wrestling forum.

Now for the rest of your post cause you're off on a few things. But before I commit to it, cause it's gonna be 'one of those Kalyx posts', a simple question:

Do you care about genre distictions? That's not a value judgment question, you can love games however you want. But based on what you said about Bayo/DD, Mario/Crash, and Yakuza - I gotta know.

Do you actually care about the design philosophy aspect of games? Again it's 100% fine if you just wanna buy a good time.
